  1. I've heard that Jeffrey Luhnow and David Stearns know each other pretty well.... just saying
  2. I just put a note on my door informing my staff that I'm unavailable until 3:00. Love it!!! Mets trying to get back in on Lucroy now? Give us Conforto
  3. Now that we have Bickford I'm a little more open to the roll of the dice that is Gallo. Much prefer Mendez though....
  4. Pundits are saying this makes Gallo to Brewers for Lucroy more likely
  5. Lord have mercy!!!! Wow! Unreal. Go Stearns Go!!!!!!!
  6. Even with Brewers goggles on I can see a mega-Grand Canyon sized difference between Chapman & Jeffress, and a pretty huge difference between Miller & Jeffress. Jeffress as an add-on to a Lucroy deal has value but he isn't a huge difference maker to many teams. If I was a contending team GM I would love Jeffress to be a 7th or 8th inning guy, piggybacking relievers likke the Royals did in '14 or '15, but thats just me
  7. Rangers fans on Twitter are freaking out over Gallo for Lucroy straight up. Don't think Lucroy is worth that. Must be casual fans.
  8. Rangers talks have slowed, another team in on Luc?
  9. As long as this Lucroy Trade Thread diverges into a Stearns Philosophy Thread for a bit, I will say that while I like his M.O. of stockpiling athletic, fast, multi-position players who get on base, I would hope that we'll be stockpiling pitching at some point. Pitching wins championships. You can never, ever, have too much pitching, which means I'd be thrilled if over the next 2-3 years or so most of our trade acquisitions and draft picks are pitchers. I have a feeling that phase is coming
  10. Sounds like what the Twins just did. About 5 years of losing, and then sold their fans for years on "you just wait for 2016-2017 when these top prospects are going to come up and take us to the promised land." How'd that work out for them? Kind of like when the Brewers told fans "you just wait till Fielder/Weeks/Hardy etc are able to join Sheets, then we'll be contenders?"
  11. Does anyone know the schedule for the Brewers-Rangers trade announcement? I'd like to plan Sunday dinner around it.
  12. Agree strongly on Ortiz. He doesn't project as highly either. I've seen Mendez mentioned as one of the top LHP prospects in all of MiLB. Mendez would be the centerpiece, if at all possible, for this trade for me. Moreso than Gallo who I'd also be excited to bring in
  13. For more comparisons: Chris Carter at age 22 in AA/AAA - .329/.422/.570 (most of that was in AA though, he only played 13 games that year in AAA where he put up .259/.293/.519) Joey Gallo at age 22 in AAA - .246/.381/.557 Joey Gallo at age 21 in AA/AAA - .240/.342/.520 A lot of the Gallo hype comes from the absolutely monstrous numbers he put up from Rookie ball to A+ ball http://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.cgi?id=gallo-001joe
  14. Branyan had a .351/.526/.878 line with the Brewers and a .329/.485/.814 for his career. I would definitely take 5+ pre-free agent years of that. .248/.351/.526 for Branyan w/ Milwaukee And Gallo has put up better MiLB numbers than Branyan. I see Gallo as "Branyan-Plus" with the potential to be even better. And yes, I'll take that
  15. Left-hand power hitters don't just grow on trees. Gallo has the potential to put up big power numbers in Miller Park. Certainly not a sure thing, but an exciting roll of the dice. Huge bonus points if he can actually stick at 3B
  16. Fills an organizational need, longterm, for a power hitting 1B. Intriguing, exciting potential as a HR hitter. Still only 22 years old. Despite some MLB playing experience, BaseballReference.com lists him as not being eligible for free agency until 2022
  17. Russell Branyan .245/.330/.576 Age 24 in AAA Joey Gallo .246/.381/.557 Age 22 in AAA Better prospect than Branyan
  18. Jim Thome hit .332/.441/.585 in AAA, so.....
  19. .342/.425/.516 Mike Trout's career MiLB numbers .403/.467/.623 Mike Trout's AAA numbers (age 20) .320/.435/.655 Rickie Weeks' AAA numbers .195/.289/.450 Joey Gallo's AAA numbers in 2015 .246/.381/.557 Joey Gallo's AAA numbers in 2016 Just some perspective on what a "Top Prospect" is
  20. If he gets HBP and injured I'm thinking this franchise is jinxed
  21. Gallo would be fun to have in Milwaukee, and fun to cheer on in a HR Derby. He is not a slam dunk top prospect though. His AAA numbers look somewhat like a player who could be a Mark Reynolds, not a Ryan Braun. We'll see. I trust Stearns knows more than me
  22. Good to hear. I'd prefer Mendez. Some injury concerns/projectability concerns with Ortiz. More details about Texas' prospects here: http://m.mlb.com/prospects/2016?list=tex
  23. Yohander Mendez http://www.milb.com/player/index.jsp?player_id=622795#/career/R/pitching/2016/ALL Luis Ortiz http://www.milb.com/player/index.jsp?player_id=656814#/career/R/pitching/2016/ALL Give me those two plus Gallo
  24. Lewis Brinson has really struggled this year as a 22 year old in AA, hitting .233/.280/.425
  25. So who would we be potentially getting if Lucroy & Jeffress are traded to Texas? Profar + Gallo + Pitching?
