  1. Please pass along my sincere thanks to Jeremy for the dedication he showed to the Brewers and the city of Milwaukee. His story is an inspiring one to me, as a fan, a Dad and a Baseball coach, and to my son who is 13 year old Baseball player
  2. Welcome back rluzinski I think Villar profiles more as a 2B. Stearns seems to like players who can play multiple positions. I think Gennett will be traded in the offseason, opening a spot for Villar there. But his ability to play SS/3B/2B/RF/LF gives the club flexibility. That and his overall athleticism and favorable contract status is what had Stearns go after him in the first place
  3. I see Perez similar to Casey McGehee once upon a time. At every level of Baseball: "if you hit, you won't sit" Quite simply, Perez can play his way into any starting lineup. The fact that he can play 6-7 positions sure helps
  4. Scooter's #1 comp on Baseball Reference is Aaron Hill and Hill was traded for Wendell Rijo & Aaron Wilkerson Scooter's #1 comp through age 25 is actually Neil Walker, and Walker was traded for Jon Niese I would say that is the general range you would get for Scooter. Better than Rijo/Wilkerson, not as good as Niese
  5. And hitting .241/.311/.408 at age 29 MLB is trending younger. Re-signing/extending a lot of our players is part of the old paradigm and very much a Melvin move. I doubt we'll see Stearns do a heckuva lot of that. Controllable young talent is how you sustain success in today's MLB. After 5 years, trade a player for two top prospects and keep on rolling. Not to say a Brewer player won't get extended. But you don't stockpile Middle Infielders & athletic outfielders if your plan is to extend guys a lot. I would think if they do extend someone it'll be a pitcher, and they'll prioritize money towards international signings.
  6. Thoughts on whether Arcia is the greatest defensive player in the history of the Milwaukee Brewers organization?
  7. I like Susac moving forwards.
  8. Phillips needs to really start hitting or he will need to repeat AA ball in 2017. Doesn't seem like he's on a path to MLB in 2018, but we'll see I would pencil in Susac at Catcher for now
  9. When you are the ant in a room full of Elephants, there are several factors in trying to create future leverage in your competition with various other ball clubs. This could, in part be "see? We aren't like the Cubs who kept Bryant down unnecessarily. We are a player friendly organization." I expect the Brewers to try to be big players in International Signings in the next few years. There was the perception of a damaged reputation after the way the franchise treated Hardy that is in the process of being repaired. Every move Stearns makes effects 5 or 6 other moves. This is not at all as simple as Arcia's service time or his preparation for 2017. Gotta think mega-huge picture here And again I sense that Stearns really likes Diaz. Diaz was the 1st big prospect that he traded for. And he hasn't disappointed
  10. I don't know if Isan Diaz can stick at SS, but if he can he's an intriguing prospect because of the power hitting ability. 15 HR's & 26 Doubles through 104 games at age 20 in A ball while hitting .270/350 .... he's only 2-3 years behind Arcia
  11. Despite the HR's, Carter and his 107 OPS+ is completely expendable once the Brewers are ready to contend. I would say you are correct, and "both" is the most likely scenario. I fully expect neither Braun or Carter on the roster the next time the Brewers take the field in a playoff game
  12. It is entirely possible that one of the factors is appeasing the biggest fan, Mark A .... and that is OK. I'm sure there were many many pros and cons they looked at and ultimately they want to see if he'll be ready to be our SS on Opening Day 2017
  13. I, for one, am much more interested in tuning in tonight. If part of this is a PR move, it worked!
  14. Arcia in the last 28 days: .287/.340/.483 w/ 2 HR's and 9 Doubles. Considering the Gold Glove defense, I would consider him ready for the challenges and experience of MLB
  15. yeah I read that wrong. Meant that Thornburg seems like a candidate for a waiver wire trade
  16. Phillips, Ray, Clark all have to step up and show they can consistently hit MiLB pitching or they might never make the show.
  17. Teams always seem to want relief pitching. Thornburg seems a likely candidate
  18. PTBNL is almost for certain from among a group of 2-4 players who both sides agreed to in principle. The Brewers can scout those players and pick at a pre-determined time
  19. My sense is that Ortiz may need Tommy John in the next 2-3 years (not exactly shocking as tons of pitchers get Tommy John) but when he comes out the other side of that will be a solid #3 MLB starter More excited about Brinson
  20. It will certainly be interesting to compare the careers of Mejia, Brinson & Gallo in the future Brinson I see as somewhat like Lorenzo Cain, very raw but with so much potential once it comes together. He has more fluid overall athletic ability than Cain and has already been compared to Mike Cameron defensively.....
  21. We got a potential superstar CF prospect plus two starting pitching prospects plus an MLB catcher for Lucroy & two bullpen guys.... how the 30 year old genius pulled that off is beyond me! More on Brinson here: http://www.todaysknuckleball.com/al/texas-rangers/pleskoff-scouting-report-lewis-brinson/
  22. 6'3" 195 elite CF prospect who was the #16 overall prospect going in to 2016. Not quite sure how people aren't ecstatic about this trade?!!!
  23. Lewis Brinson, elite defensive CF prospect who can flat out fly 2015 Minor League Stats (A, AA & AAA): 456 PA, .332/.403/.601, 20 HR, 69 RBIs, 74 Runs, 18 SB Down year offensively so far in AA, but still only 22 years old..... very excited to have this guy in the Brewers organization!
  24. last half hour = somebody needs to step up to the plate and overpay
