  1. The way Stearns plays this now in the next 30 hours or so will tell us a lot about him. He's got to turn around and get a deal done trading Lucroy and meanwhile has other trade chips that should be going. This is where him being young, focused & energetic will really help him. Time to step up today/tomorrow
  2. National media including Rosenthal ripping on Stearns a little now
  3. I still think Lucroy will be traded by the deadline, possibly in this deal to Cleveland still, however if he doesn't get traded I am predicting the casual fans at Miller Park will give Lucroy a standing ovation because they will interpret this as "see? Lucroy really wanted to remain a Brewer!"
  4. And now Frazier plus Sheffield plus 2 more just went to the Yankees for Andrew Miller? Bizarro world
  5. Ugh. Wow Unmitigated disaster indeed. I had a feeling this would happen. Well, the next 30 hours or so should get very interesting
  6. An article about this topic, FWIW http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2016/07/derek-norris-trade-rumor-brewers-padres.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+MlbTradeRumors+%28MLB+Trade+Rumors%29
  7. Norris won't be a free agent until 2019
  8. Carson Fulmer just carved him up in the Futures Games though. (1st batter in this video) Edited to say: he did go 1 for 3 in that game https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jnvasEgGLcg
  9. I've been watching a lot of Mejia video tonight. This kid really has elite bat speed & hand/eye coordination. He is far from a polished hitter yet, he's a little all over the place with his balance sometimes and chops at the ball on occasion, but you can see why scouts love him. The hit tool is all there and I love the way he battles.
  10. Hitting .243/.324 in A ball as a 19 year old doesn't scream "superstar potential" but scouts still talked about his cannon arm that year. He has clearly hit well in every other season, especially so far this year. I'd be interested to find out more details about 2015 w/ Mejia as well
  11. Lucroy is pretty clearly the #2 or #3 overall Catcher in MLB right now. He's having a helluva year. I can understand why some feel underwhelmed at the return. I remain thrilled w/ Mejia though.
  12. Anyone see Keon Broxton turn a double down the left-field line into a triple tonight? Imagine having 2-3 guys like that (that kind of speed, but with plus OBP skills) in the lineup. I think that is, in part, a big aspect of Stearns' vision for the future
  13. Yeah I can relate. McKenzie seems like a very special, dominant talent. Though the concern over him only throwing 93 mph is legit, he seems like a true pitcher, not just a thrower. His numbers so far are eye-popping
  14. Anyone else think that including Greg Allen in this trade is a slight knee jerk reaction to Corey Ray's slow start in his 1st 100 at-bats? (.219/.257/.267) Hedging bets? Completely unrelated? There's a lot of OF's in the system (Phillips et al)
  15. It is pretty clear with Villar, Ray, and now Greg Allen (and others) that Stearns really values athleticism and top end speed, as well as players that get on-base. Not sure if he is partly following the KC Royals trend or trying to carve out his own niche, but it does seem like a method of operation is being established
  16. Agreed. Thank you. This is Brewerfan.net , we have been here for years & years. Anyone is welcome, but you have to treat people with respect. The moderators here do a great job with this site. This is not the comments section of the JS Online
  17. If this trade goes through, and I still think Lucroy could become a diva over $$$ and block it, I would rate Francisco Mejia as the #2 Brewers prospect right now, just a cat's whiskers behind Arcia. Thrilled to get him. Like him way more than Frazier/Zimmer
  18. Look, Clint Frazier is no sure thing. He is currently batting .275/.351/.465 in AA/AAA. It is not like the guy is tearing up MiLB the way Braun/Weeks/Fielder did. He has the name recognition from being the #5 overall pick. I get that
  19. Norris is OK. Maldonado is better defensively. I guess it depends on who the Crew would give up
  20. Forty...two...game...hit....streak. Currently ongoing. As a 20 year old switch-hitting catcher with a cannon arm Kinda feel like I need to repeat that 100 times here
  21. This is not at all a done deal, guys. Not yet anyways Rosenthal: "Lucroy likely will want financial inducement to waive no-trade; he holds that leverage. Earning $4M this season; $5.25M club option for ’17."
  22. Just a gut feeling but I could really see Lucroy exploiting his no-trade clause here and this going down to the last minute. Could see Lucroy having his agent work Cleveland for a contract upgrade, something.... hope I'm wrong
  23. Rated higher by whom? McKenzie has been dominant. And yes, higher ceiling
  24. I would agree with that wholeheartedly. A 20 year old catcher who is a flat out stud at both hitting & defense? 42 game hitting streak currently ongoing. Hitting .342 this year in A ball. Yes please
