  1. Jeremy Jeffress - Rastamon Vibration by Bob Marley
  2. I wouldn't necessarily look at the team as constructed right now and assume it's the model Stearns looks at for a successful team. I'm not at all doing that. I have a lot of confidence in Stearns.
  3. I'm struggling to think of another team in recent history that went with hitting as a 1st priority, with little regard for defense and only a secondary regard for pitching, that won a World Series. It just plain doesn't work
  4. Great point, hard to argue with that. And it's not like Lind was a gold glover either. Nor was Rickie Weeks or Prince Fielder, and Ryan Braun was historically bad in his season at 3B
  5. I'm hoping Keon Broxton can hit well enough to grab the CF spot. He can be an elite defensive CF
  6. Hindsight being 20/20, I sure am glad that the Wheeler/Flores trade for Gomez fell through. That was a horrendous trade for a rebuilding team as opposed to what we got from Houston (even having to add Fiers). I'm thrilled with the moves that Stearns is making. The moves he makes in regards to Lucroy/Braun/K Davis are even more important. And they have to get the 2016/2017 drafts right. So far Stearns is doing great, in my opinion.
  7. Sounds like a laundry list of excuses for underperforming for 2.5 years. Sad about his child but the rest of it, well they are excuses. Perform and you'd get your payday. I am pretty sure it is just speculation by Roenicke (and others) as to why they believe Segura is a bounce back candidate. Segura isn't saying any of that, Roenicke is.....
  8. MLB Network reported today that the Nationals have interest but that Lucroy has Washington on his "No-Trade List"
  9. What I like is that most of the players they are bringing in are plus gloves with plus athleticism. i.e. the type of players who, even if they don't live up to their hitting potential (and not all of them will) can help a team win games as role players. You want speed on the bases, great gloves in the field, and platoon advantages when you can find them. Those little things add up and can help produce Wins
  10. I'm hopeful he'll at least start the season at Appleton. The only experience he has is Rookie Ball. It'd probably be a mild disappointment if he doesn't finish the season in High A, though.
  11. That is truly awesome to see!
  12. I strongly agree. It'd be different if Gennett's platoon strength was vs LHP. But a LH hitter who does well vs RHP (career .307/.339 vs RHP, even last year he was .279/.310 vs RHP) and plays fairly decent 2B (overall a positive dWAR score, he's not Brandon Phillips with the glove but he can play the position) has plenty of value. And he's only entering his age 26 season. And he is still playing for league minimum, isn't arby eligible until 2017 and is under team control until 2020. All of those things are very valuable aspects of having him on the roster. The Brewers aren't going to just give him away. Scooter is "young controllable talent". Obviously he'd have more value if he walked more or if he played multiple positions, but just taken for who he is, Scooter is a good player.
  13. I'm not completely buying into Chase Anderson being a solid starter. Perhaps his mediocrity is part of the Brewers' tank job? "....the Brewers acquired Anderson, who in two seasons with the Diamondbacks has an unremarkable strikeouts to innings pitched ratio, home run totals that portend danger at hitter-friendly Miller Park, and a walks plus hits per innings pitched number north of 1.3. General manager David Stearns insists Anderson will be slotted into the starting rotation. How he would represent an improvement over what the Brewers currently have in their rotation is nothing short of a mystery." http://www.outsidepitchmlb.com/brewers-segura-diamondbacks-trade/42019
  14. Yes, absolutely. He was a 4 WAR player at SS in 2013. Players have off-years. Past performance is not a fool-proof way of predicting future results, however yes absolutely I could see Segura being a 3+ WAR player at 2B. I really wanted the Brewers to keep Segura and convert him to 2B. I'm thrilled about Diaz though, and am very happy he is a Brewer.
  15. I know I seem to be the only Segura fan on here, but I would say he instantly becomes one of the best defensive 2B's in MLB. He can steal a ton of bases. If he can hit .270 he could be a 3-5 WAR player at 2B. Yeah, I know I'm crazy. But again, the guy is only 26
  16. Only in an alternative universe, in my point of view, did we get Diaz for free. Segura is only entering his age 26 season and has at least a reasonable chance of becoming an All-Star again. Hill is strictly a utility veteran in his decline years
  17. There is that! I seem to recall a few posts recently saying something along the lines of "quick, trade some Brewers to Arizona before Stewart gets fired!"
  18. Amazing to get Isan Diaz in this trade. Simply amazing I would say that the inclusion of Diaz in addition to a solid starting pitcher shows that maybe a lot of Brewers fans did under-rate Jean Segura, as I have speculated many times. I have mixed feelings on this purely from a fan's point of view. My kid's favorite player is Jean Segura and he is pretty close to devestated about this. I was hoping the Brewers would keep Segura and convert him to 2B when Arcia came up. I understand the trade and am excited about Diaz
  19. A very good trade, I like it a lot Here is a good article that talks about Liriano. Former Top 40 Prospect in all of Baseball, had Tommy John surgery, struggled a little in a very small sample of MLB at-bats but has real potential http://padrespublic.com/sacrifice-bunt/no-rymer-reason/
  20. Generally speaking I think investing in the international market is wise.
  21. Thank you. Exactly!!!! Most attempts to appeal to the casual fan just dumbs it down. MLB is making more money than ever, by a long long shot
  22. Worth giving a minor league contract to. Cappy is all heart. Two Tommy John surgeries and he's still tickin'
  23. I would wait and see if the NL is going to have a DH in 2017 before I trade Davis, unless I'm blown away by an offer
  24. I would say the trade value of Lucroy vs Arcia is similar to the trade value of Carlos Gomez vs Carlos Correa i.e. light years apart
  25. It is inevitable but it is sad for me to see. I love the strategy of the NL game. I can understand the concern of keeping the extreme investments that teams make in Pitchers safer (healthier) by not having Pitchers hit. I can understand wanting to make the leagues equal. I can understand wanting to create more offense which appeals to the casual fan, I just think it makes for worse Baseball for the purist like myself. Personally, I'd do away with the DH in the AL, in order to make the leagues equal. But nobody is asking me. My concern is what is next? Designated fielders? Will teams be able to put an Andrleton Simmons at Shortstop but not have him hit? Expanded rosters where each team can have 16-17 pitchers each taking an inning or two each? edited the underlined word above
