    This is a crazy idea, and there's a bunch of reasons it would never happen, but how about trying to trade for Tyler Soderstrom? A guy that can take Bauers' roster spot and be the 3rd catcher? Or, he could be optioned as well. Kind of two (or three) birds with one stone. Obviously, it would require some really big player/prospect capital, like Black and/or Frelick. But it would give cover at catcher, get rid of Bauers, and give the Crew a legit first base option for the next few years (and backup catcher). Are there any other lefties that can take over for Bauers AND be at least a 3rd catcher?

    I agree 100%. With that said, what "investment" looks like isn't always what casual fans care about. Some examples being scouting well both internationally and domestically, investing in player development, improving the team on the margins, making winning personnel moves, and playing winning baseball rather than making flashy personnel moves and playing flashy baseball. Sometimes media misses the forest through the trees (which is their job, to get clicks), and sometimes those takes confirm the biases of casual fans. And just to be clear, I'm not opposed to making "big" moves, so long as the Brewers get team control back. Any rentals should be "little" moves, IMO.

    I know it was just an 0-3, 2 BB, 2 K game, but I'm starting to think that Bitoni is going to be getting a little more love from the scouting community. I would have to think that he'd be a 1st round pick in this year's draft based on his profile and success in AZ. He doesn't turn 19 until November, has a pretty nice-looking swing from the left side, and has enough infielder tools to think he could stick at 3rd base with a slugging profile. I'd love to know more about his swinging strike rate, and on what pitches he swings and misses on.

    Yesterday, I was literally going to try and do some research on this very topic. Thanks for reading my mind! Presuming they lose Haase when Sanchez comes back, I think the best-case scenario is they can trade for a good defensive AAAA catcher with options, if possible. The issue is if they get into a bind after the trade deadline. I guess Mejia is okay, but I'd prefer a glove-first guy in that role, as hoping for any offense out of that player is pointless.

    This is brilliant! But why settle for the injury-riddled Skubal, though, when the Brewers could trade for the ghost of Walter Johnson? And don't stop there, go get Bob Feller, too!

    I agree with this. In addition, I'm getting bored of the national guys* (Smoltz and his partner induced some eyerolls from me), feeding the narrative that the Brewers are some cute story about Papa Murphy and his overachieving kiddos playing for the big, bad, cheap owner who never spends money and always trades away his best players instead of trying to win in the playoffs; Poor, poor Yelich, Contreras, and Hoskins... They deserve true investment in the team, and deserve an organization that will "go for it," like it's now or never. Pffft... The Brewers are young and good, and only getting better, both this year AND in the next couple of years. The national writers/media are going to have to find a new narrative in the next year or two after the Brewers solidify their stranglehold on the NL Central. *It irritates me not because I care about what the outside thinks, but because I care about what casual Brewer fans think. When National guys state lazy takes, it feeds lazy narratives surrounding the organization in Wisconsin.

    I'm going to be peeking a lot at 24-year-old Connor Scott's performances the next season or so. He could be another covid-guy, like Blake Perkins, who simply needs another season or two to grow into himself as a ballplayer... Or, perhaps he struggles, and the Brewers convince him to try pitching again??

    I think anytime guys are pretty young for their league, we anon posters need to try and be patient. A lot of guys (Chourio?) need a couple of months to get their bearings before excelling in the 2nd half of the season. For this reason, too, I'd prefer to keep Misiorowski in Biloxi until much later in the season. I know many posters would like to fast-track him to the big-league pen, but I would prefer for him to continue to refine and define himself as a starter at this point; let him get used to dominating. Even if he doesn't really get starts in Milwaukee until 2026, I'd be fine with that. He's only 22.

    Played two tough games to start the series, but still outscored the Dodgers for the series, (for those of you that care about Pythagoras).

    I really do hope Hiura finds something in LA. The Angels are the perfect team for him to get a decent run of innings, allow him to play through slumps.

    I'm sure the IGT featured some irrational takes, but most posters don't hate him at all. They simply didn't think he was good enough for a 26-man roster spot.

    Yeah. Despite his stature, he looks so talented and mature. And that speed is legit, too.

    Exactly. He's not Vogelbach out there, but I had hoped he'd be more "dangerous," rather than just fast. That goes with infield singles/bunts as well.

    I thought it was interesting in today's Potrykus article, how Gard acknowledged that looking overseas was going to be a thing. I also thought it was interesting that Gard said that the development of players in Europe was far better than in [AAU ball]. As far as I'm concerned, it SHOULD be an emphasis in recruiting, considering how many of the world's best come from another country.

    I like the idea of optioning Frelick. I want Black to get more ABs, and innings at 1st base. Yelich is "fine" in LF. Mitchell could hurt himself on the flight to MKE, so I agree with iKezims that having a sure-fire starting CF in AAA isn't the worst thing. I've been as big a Frelick-guy as anyone, but I had really hoped/expected to see a little more pop in his bat by now. Not HR power, but more doubles and triples ripping liners into the gaps and down the lines. That simply hasn't happened. In addition, I hoped he would grow into a more dangerous guy on the bases. I love the idea of getting him some reps at 3rd (and 2nd?) down in Nashville, too.

    And let's be honest, this type of thing is not reserved for the rich, for the athletes, or for professional sports teams, but are common to find in most walks of life. I don't care to speculate on percentages, but moral fallibility can be found everywhere, just like there are also really wonderful humans that play baseball for a lot of money.
