I guess they were technically "in the majors" when they were added to the 40 man and had to be optioned down sometime in spring training, so they would be recalled even if they haven't played in the regular season at the MLB level. -

Makes sense. Shaw can't even get into the normal lineup against right-handers with Grandal at first (and possibly Braun), plus we seem to be facing more left-handers to compound the issue. Then there's the whole not having a backup SS plus the worst offensive position player there that wasn't going to last long. -

Lutz is on a really nice run. 4-6 with a walk and a homer in the double header. Ups and downs including this hot streak, but a YTD .760 OPS in the Carolina League at age 20 is no joke. -

Not convinced you don't keep Grisham at 1 and Cain at 6 even against a left-hander. Yeah, it loads right-handed bats 6-9, but that's daring them to give you a good match-up for Yelich to come off the bench.

And here I thought listening to Rock go on and on about the importance of hitting the ball to the opposite field several times a game was bad.

Brault's slider is very meh, he's a very fastball-heavy pitcher. So it would actually make some sense to try Grisham today. We'll see though, hard to see Braun or Cain sitting...so unless Braun is ready for 1b, it isn't happening. Cain hurt his leg last night and CC likes that excuse to make picking a starting lineup easier the following day though This would be the lamest time CC uses that excuse after that awesome overhead catch that happened a couple innings after the owie.

I can see wanting the fourth outfielder to be a right-handed bat in future years with Grisham and Yelich as everyday corner outfielders. So long as Gamel has no splits and Cain is the primary CF, that may not be the case for a couple more years.

File's having few problems in AA. Got to think he's got a chance to start next season in AAA. Awesome! Very high on Noah from the several starts I've seen. Surprised they didn't move him up, though Biloxi has been jammed with pitching all year. -
What's the career trajectory for most pitchers of his profile? If I'm Stearns, I'm looking to see what I can get at the winter meetings. Not the hero we deserve, but he’s the one we need right now. Granted they were both only 5-inning starts, but Lyles has looked good. I wonder if the Brewers identified something he was doing as a Pirate that was leading to him getting the crap kicked out of him? I remember after the trade they mentioned on the telecast that CC said there were a couple of things they noticed. Not that he won't revert to his career averages eventually, but fingers crossed we can squeeze a few more good starts out of him beforehand.
