  1. Someone tell Steve I was just memeing. As is usually the case.
  2. Doesn't blow me away. If something like Rasmussen and Ashby would get us a proven starter through next year I'd certainly pay that price.
  3. They're...only 6 back of the wild card? Re-loading for a 2020 pennant run? Intend to flip him as they first aim to acquire Greinke and Baumgardner, completely corner the market on starting pitching and become the monopolistic seller? I got nothing, really.
  4. Jay Jackson and Taylor Williams trying to hide. This surely means they'll have to enter the game, then that'll cause them to get sent down.
  5. Where's the foul ball defense from those fans in Brewers shirts?
  6. Curious trade with the Twins getting the RP with no huge salary to eat, A+ Arm and PTBNL for a AA 1B. Not what you commonly see from buyer/seller roles. Will say that along with the Diekman deal, the prices so far for relief pitching don't bother me at all.
  7. Look at that velo chart. And it's now a tick higher! https://www.fangraphs.com/pitchfxo.aspx?playerid=18679&position=P&statArr=&legend=1&split=base&time=daily&start=2018&end=2019&rtype=mult&gt1=15&dStatArray=FA&ymin=&ymax=
  8. If anyone complains about that rule just make them watch this inning. What a joke. With the 26th roster spot for Maddon to over-manage with the rule will be essential for keeping games under 5 hours.
  9. This is my impression. Likely targeting a better bullpen arm than Diekman. It only took a 26 year old AA outfielder and generic rookie leaguer, so I'd guess Stearns is willing to pay more to get more. Not going to have the talent to get a Yates or anything, but there's a wide middle ground between him and Diekman.
  10. Seems like he's only day to day and probably won't miss time. But if we had to fill from within and re-extending Peralta or Burnes is off the table it's probably Wilkerson, Supak, maybe Jankins.
  11. I also found these rankings to be absurd. It seems to be a ceiling ranking entirely on perceived potential rather than actual value. And also agree that they seem to have vomited out the preseason list and made some quick updates to get the draft picks in. Among the silliness: Zack Brown has risen from #6 to #4 despite a disastrous season. Supak has dropped from #11 to #13 despite a terrific season. And does anyone believe Diplan is still our 21st best prospect, yet File, Zavolas, and Bettinger don't crack the top 30?
  12. Hernan's found his stroke. Wouldn't doubt they find a spot for him on the 40 to get him back in September.
  13. Borderline calls, frustration of no one getting on base...who's gonna get tossed by the home plate ump tonight? I want an epic Jomboy recap video to watch tomorrow.
  14. Kind of perplexing it would take this long for players with a lot of potential to help the MLB team, while an army of AAAA players and journeymen continue to do the San Antonio Shuffle.
  15. That would indeed be a very stupid thing. I'd rather see the Brewers win over anything related to people's reactions. It’s baseball. It’s entertainment. The Brewers haven’t been doing much winning lately. Might as well go WWE version if this ship isn’t righted. [sarcasm]Heck, send him to AA. Let's start the demotions, reinforce San Antonio and Biloxi and win the AAA and Southern League championships.[/sarcasm]
  16. Nice outing for Andrews in the second game: 2 perfect innings w/2 K's and drew a walk at the plate. Really intriguing prospect with the two way players popping up in a few places lately. Will have to continue to overcome being undersized - think it's more of an issue as a pitcher, though that could be minimized as a spot reliever.
  17. Look at that velocity uptick for Freddy. 90/91 as a starter last year, 93/94 as a reliever in the postseason. Picked up there at the start of the season, and now in the pen he's regularly hitting 97. https://www.fangraphs.com/pitchfxo.aspx?playerid=18679&position=P&statArr=&legend=1&split=base&time=daily&start=2018&end=2019&rtype=mult&gt1=15&dStatArray=FA&ymin=&ymax=
  18. So much of sustaining success comes down to the Stearns mission statement: acquire and develop young, controllable talent. Notice how the prime buyers this year are expected to be the Dodgers, Yankees, Astros and Braves: teams that already have young, controllable talent on their rosters, have already traded prospects to improve their MLB roster, yet still have an abundance of minor league talent to either call up or use for acquisitions. Yes, being able to dish out a nine figure contract helps, but payroll doesn't explain how they can call up homegrown All-Star level talent, trade away prospects, yet still have loaded farm systems. We haven't had that luxury - if the Brewers are winning, our farm is generally bottom 10 in baseball. When we were rebuilding and trading away talent for prospects, we had a top five farm. The Stearns objective is to have so much organizational talent that we can be a playoff contender, replenish with an incoming pipeline of talent, make upgrades to the MLB roster, and still have a strong system.
