  1. [sarcasm]"Trent Grisham is a little better than Yelich." - Craig Counsell, July 31, 2019[/sarcasm]
  2. Adam McCalvy @AdamMcCalvy · Brewers reinstated Corbin Burnes from the 10-day injured list and optioned him to San Antonio.
  3. Down in FL we get all of the Tampa games so I'll have to keep an eye on Jesus and see how he does. Jesus will keep an eye on you too. Sorry, had to get in the final Jesus joke.
  4. He's not in the lineup tonight. He may not even be active tonight since the move hasn't been announced yet.

  6. [sarcasm]We just traded our #21 prospect for a bucket of baseballs and none of Lazar, File, Zavolas, or Bettinger even cracked the top 30, so what are they worth???[/sarcasm]
  7. Tom @Haudricourt · Giants got a pretty good young shortstop in Dubon for two pitchers they likely are not going to miss.
  8. So...two months of a reliever that has supposedly been good out of the pen (but it could be a fluke), and an Alex Wilson clone who will clog a 40 man spot for Dubon? That's the steepest price for relief pitching anyone has paid yet. I'd rather have called up Devin Williams and Donnie Hart and rolled with it.
  9. Jon Morosi @jonmorosi Will Smith is not going to the Brewers in the reported trade agreement between Milwaukee and San Francisco, either.
  10. What move would you make that would guarantee wins this year since that is what you want from the Brewers' front office? There are NO guarantees, BUT I would definitely be willing to bet that Robbie Ray would help them(substantially) this year, so would Greinke...and guess what?? The beauty of that is, they are also under control NEXT year too. Not just rentals Greinke is also under control to the tune of $80M through his age 37 season, and we don't have the prospects in our system to sell to have Arizona pick up the tab on even half of that.
  11. From what I hear Tampa was looking for right handed power. Also trading from a position of strength. Guessing they want to get McKay back up (who also gives them a LH bat, being one of these new two-way players).
  12. Love it. Faria has four years of control after this, decent profile, not a soft tosser, has started, and if he stinks out of the gate we can option him for a couple weeks. Trading an inconsistent Aguilar from an area of strength (though I'd prefer Braun start taking some ground balls).
  13. Hiura's teammates may be imitating that throw in the future for laughs.
  14. Jon Morosi @jonmorosi 9m Yasiel Puig apparently will be traded with a suspension to be named later.
  15. Think you have to sit in that case. Can't see a GM who's mission statement is to develop and retain young controllable talent giving up full control of what could be a potential star for something like a year and two months of a middle of rotation arm. The only time he's given up comparable young talent, he acquired five years of control of an MVP talent.
  16. Burnes rehab outing: 2.0 IP / 1 ER / 3 H / 1 BB / 4 K 35 pitches, 23 strikes Not sure why he started, but Jankins in now.
  17. Saw the Missions website updated him as the starter for tonight. Are they re-reversing course and stretching him again? Or a trade/promotion/injury with Thomas Jankins, who was the scheduled starter?
  18. Quick hits: -People are way overreacting about the not signing Lyles regret. The guy was here last year to eat innings and not even close to sniffing the playoff roster. -Lyles has been garbage all month, and his overall 2019 numbers have reverted to career norms, which are bad. They'll come he pitches like he did in April and May, expecting to get one more (better) starter and dump him from the rotation when Chacin and/or Woodruff return. Low risk because, -Trading Ponce is not a big deal. We have four or five decent bullpen arms in AA (and now AAA, since Williams moved up). He would also have had to be added to the 40 next year. -We don't have the patience to have Diplan on the 40 for two more years in hopes he figures something out. He's probably likely to clear waivers as it is. -Rankings are meaningless - even plugging the rankings of his employer, I'm not sure how McCalvey doesn't feel like he needs to take a shower after Tweeting than Diplan is our #21 prospect, yet NONE of Lazar, File, Zavolas, or Bettinger crack the top 30.
