Are the Brewers Closer to a Rebuild than a Title Contender?

I'm all for a reload. Get some more into the mediocre farm, evaluate a few players that may be contributors next year, and we're a couple of signings away from giving it another go next year. Just don't believe this team's roster and coaching problems are solvable in two weeks, holding onto trade assets and trying to plug a couple of the many holes by further depleting the farm seems like a hefty cost for the very slim chance at winning a pennant. Re: Davies, not sure how you part with him going into next year. The rotation is Woodruff and Davies for next year. Possibly Anderson, though I wouldn't count on it. There's a bunch of arms to fill the remaining spots - Houser, Peralta, Burnes, Jankins, Supak, Nelson, Smyly, Miller. None are more appealing than Davies, and signing three starters from elsewhere when you have one under control is unrealistic and even riskier. -
A pitcher who makes Albers look svelte with GIGANTES on his jersey amuses me.

He's earned it. 40-man spot is of no concern; we could probably clear eight 40-man spots with no regrets if needed. -
Are you sure? Because Claudio has 118 appearances on the year, which is pretty impressive in a season that's only 90 games old. Two more again tonight, still well above a 200 appearance pace. He looked to be right-handed and 80 pounds heavier when he came back in for the 10th, but that's just a matter of a disguise and some mirrors.

I really want to be sellers. Stearns wouldn't do it, and even if he wanted to, Attanasio would overrule him.

Should have just released him. Now Griep sent back to AA despite being more than ready for AAA. So a 30 year old journeyman is blocking someone with potential to be a good bullpen arm for us in the future. Silly.

This is a “get off my lawn moment”. But the home run derby sucks. And when a brewer is in it then it really sucks The bracket / time format completely turned me off. Don't care to watch.

It seems like right field has been getting a ton of action in this series too. Hope it's not a Nottingham call-up where you forget he's even there.

Hope the Arcia injury isn't serious. Really happy for Dubon. He was hitting everything and just days away from a call-up the first time Arcia was optioned in May of last year when he suffered the ACL injury. Had to work all the way back from that while being limited in spring training by a bad illness that hospitalized him, with no time to test his versatility for a potential utility role, while getting passed and blocked at second by Hiura, and with Arcia coming back around at short.

Imagine this being a GM's philosophy to building a team. I'm certainly glad Stearns isn't rushing to trade Turang and Rasmussen to temporarily appease feelings for a couple weeks before it's apparent he was just putting lipstick on a pig.

As long as Gio's rehab start goes well on Wednesday he's set to return.

Even sooner than expected. Now just give him the outright release. They still have to get Williams, Griep, and Ponce into AAA and don't need to be blocked by journeymen.
