  1. Remember the Braun walk off? Yeah, that's the last time we've scored a run.
  2. Now if he can just hit a little bit... Actually managed a couple of nice looking drives too. Fingers crossed, since anything serviceable at the plate will get him moving up. On a negative note, still not seeing it from Diplan. Still only 21, so maybe he figures it out.
  3. That was a fun one. That bullpen really is something. Should be able to win games and buy time to get that rotation somewhat respectable, then we can go places.
  4. They look like pretty classic Pirates uniforms. Wait, we're not playing the Pirates.
  5. God, I hope so. There's plenty of stall going on there. Count it anytime the catcher makes it onto the grass when there's no live ball.
  6. I actually like that the baseball Hall of Fame still feels elite. The last thing they need is to take the NFL approach and have an old fart's committee that dumps a couple of average players from the 60's in every year.
  7. Heck of a move to upgrade the outfield. Stearns wouldn't load up and allow other teams to force his own hand; have to believe a trade or position switch involving Santana or Braun is in the works.
  8. Good stuff, always like me some Johnsonville. Plus it's a national brand. You can find Johnsonville anywhere in the country versus Klement's is mostly a midwest thing. The Johnsonville sizzling sausage grill is money as well, cooks sausages perfectly in 10 minutes or so. Nice in the winter months when you don't care to run outside to get 'em on the grill.
  9. I could do with the guy who did The Phantom Edit cutting this one, especially the casino stuff. The Rose character was the most pointless in the series, especially if you're not buying the touchy-feely messaging. Yes, even Jar Jar served more purpose. Luke was awesome. Mark Hamill was great. Enjoyed the Rey / Kylo plot. I did think there was too much set up around Snoke to not explain where he came from, but killing him off was absolutely the best move to move the series forward in a fresh way. While the lightspeed ship was really, really cool, it should have been Admiral Ackbar piloting. Rather than "Cool, annoying new character is getting killed off and it's still not enough to make me care about her" and "So Ackbar just died, simple as that? Lame!", I would have been legitimately sad. Unlike TFA, which didn't age well once you got over the nostalgia and noticed all the re-hash, this one should get better with time.
  10. Sure. Decent bench bat, or ride him if he gets hot again. If we had the position covered it would be unnecessary, but not sure it's time to put Dubon on the roster without insurance when we don't even know if the everyday 2B job is covered yet.
  11. Worst case we're on the hook for '18 and '19 at hardly bank-breaking costs should things go poor or injuries happen. Best case is a #2 calibur starter for four years at a fraction of market value. Fantastic deal.
  12. Thought we had something when Hiram Burgos cruised through the minors in 2012 and had a couple of solid starts when he was called up in 2013. After that he struggled, couple of injuries, and he never made it back after being mediocre at best in the minors. Think he just became a minor league free agent again; would think we're letting him walk at this point. That story reminds me of going to Appleton to see a John Jaha rehab appearance back in the 90s. I only remember one other player on the field that day: Bucky Jacobsen was playing in the outfield. "Moneyball" used to talk about the eyeball test; Jaha and Jacobsen just looked physically different from all the other guys. I thought for sure he'd be a major leaguer. ...and he was, albeit ever so briefly. http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=2368&position=1B/DH Not sure if he got hurt during that year with Jack Z's Mariners, or why he never played in the majors again after that season. Not sure how many rehab games John Jaha went on in Appleton ... but I don't think it was many and I was at this game I believe. I remember Jaha popping out and getting hit by a pitch. I also remember a line drive going into the stands and hitting a woman in the face. Off topic, but you saying that brought back some memories. Wow! I was but a child, but remember getting to see Jaha playing for Beloit in Appleton. Looks like we've rounded up half the crowd!
  13. Noticed here: https://ballparkdigest.com/2017/10/04/milwaukee-brewers-buy-carolina-mudcats/ The line "This may not be Milwaukee’s last foray into MiLB ownership, as there has been talk of the team partnering with an existing MiLB owner on the purchase of another affiliate. Those talks may take a while, however." That's got to be Biloxi, right? Colorado Springs/San Antonio and Helena/Colorado Springs don't make sense, and not really sure what buying Appleton would accomplish that's not already gained by each party from the affiliate relationship. Thought there may have been a mention at the time they relocated that there may be interest in selling eventually.
  14. Let's get that AAA (and spring training) situation fixed and we'll be set up well. Good move on the Brewers part here. Well positioned A+ franchise, good facilities, in a good league, and in a fast growing market so it's not just a cost.
  15. Any reason why Jungmann isn't up? Had a nice season in AAA and innings don't seem to be a concern. Would think you try to get him through 4 or 5 instead of seeing how many pitchers you can possibly go through in one game.
  16. 7-2. Look out baseball, we're back. Hey, someone's got to be optimistic. I'll try not to be the first with salty jokes out of frustration if it turns out 2-7.
  17. Swarzak sure has been a nice acquisition. Bullpen isn't the dumpster it was before he was acquired. Villar saved Stearns from himself. On the bright side, his plan of stockpiling middle infield prospects is looking ok. Dubon will probably get a look in spring training.
  18. Just keep the upgrades coming. We're AAA and spring training away from having nice facilities/affiliates across the board (and possibly the Helena replacement, but small issue). The sooner the better, as unfortunately they're both arguably the worst in baseball.
  19. Game notes say Vogt took BP and next up is catching BP. Indeed sounds like something that is a couple weeks off rather than another month.
  20. Heck of a debut. Too bad the offense is so terrible the staff has zero margin of error.
  21. Succeeded at every level once he got the reps in. Nice to finally have a lefty in the rotation. Little reason not to roll with him this year and keep him in the mix for a spot next year.
