I'm up for making a call to Biloxi and getting our Wang back.

Beyond miserable defense. Davies hasn't been good, but the game shouldn't be over already.

Interesting that Schroeder seemed to hint that the rule wouldn't last the season and Gennett also seemed to despise it after the game. It may be a little much when the runner wasn't even in the same zip code as the fielder, not really the purpose of the rule being implemented. But it's the rule on April 8, 2016 and was called correctly. We'll take the choke-stopper and only remember the first 8 innings.

Aiming for this generation's 2002 team I see.

Yep, and lack of financial incentives or not, haven't heard a peep out of Lohse as half the farm gets called up to make starts and he's still pitching out his contract with the most meaningless innings. At least some guys can remain professional.

I'm good with being patient for another year or two. The Pirates used to be our punching bag when we were winning and they weren't, now they're just trying to rationalize how a bad Brewers team is owning them. Hit the accelerator when we have similar success against the Cardinals and Cubs.

Looks like Davies has the call and a start: Tom retweeted Coach ‏@jeff_holland9 16m16 minutes ago Gilbert, AZ @mesqwildcatBB. Former wildcat Zach Davies will make his 1st major league start tomorrow or Thursday against the pirates.

I'm fine with the designating 25. Lets them expand the roster to evaluate the young players or giving teams in contention a bit of relief for playoff runs without getting absurd and using 5 relievers in two innings or the luxury of multiple dedicated pinch runners.

Dumb, dumb, dumb.........maybe it's the fact that the Brewers know they won't be good until 2017 and need talent to due so. So trade away a 30yr old pitcher for a stud OF prospect. Exactly. The position was that we were trading away a good 4/5 type starter who will be 33 by the time we intend to compete. If he were seen as a legitimate ace or if he were 25, maybe you hang onto him. I'll agree with Melvin's bet that the package he received from Houston will be more valuable in 2017-18 than what he had to give up.

Awesome to see. Even without having gone more than 8+ ever, you always felt it was a possibility during those month-long stretches in '11 and '14 when he was dominant and fun to watch. Wish it could have happened with us, though I still agree with making the move and really like the deal we got.

The Klements Pig Pen. Watch the piggies until they're ready to be marched off to the Sausage Haus.

Hope he makes it here. Harvard!

Done quite well with a smidge over 100 ABs, given the lack of regularity. Let him roll the next couple months, let the potential studs outplay him over the next year or two to earn their spots. Not a bad piece to have.

Might as well just purchase Wang's contract over this Guilmet.

Very impressive ground ball numbers. A much different pitcher than Fiers, but could fill his role, and is only 21 and under team control for a long while. For two months of Gerardo Parra, it works for me.

If they took on anything over $20 of Broxton's salary it nets a positive. Oh, and http://31.media.tumblr.com/e524c401e6c07e7cdaa6e5e52363c47d/tumblr_mkhk03fCDr1r4wvwvo1_250.gif

I was always a big Fiers fan. The stretches in 2012 and 2014 where he was arguably the best pitcher in baseball for a month-plus were fun to watch. Think he's been at his true expected level this year, which is a solid 4/5 starter. Being neither 25 nor a consistent top of the rotation guy, you can't hold when we're playing for 2018 and it was a good move by Melvin to get a nice return now.

http://www.nooooooooooooooo.com/vader.jpg Doesn't Craig have the itch to put himself in the lineup? Or, since Lohse is still here, maybe we get a little more use out of him and throw him in the outfield? Ugh.

Jerry Crasnick in the video on the ESPN homepage says the consensus from the scouts he spoke to said we made out very well. The new hot chick at ESPN also made the video worth watching.
  20. folly412
Yes. Something foreign to us: they're 21, 21, 22, 22. A change from our usual 27 year old "prospects".
  21. folly412
If El Caballo wants to suit up, I'll take him over Schafer. Heck, if he wants to send one of the cows off his ranch in his stead, that's fine by me.
  22. folly412
Absolutely love this haul of prospects. Big Fiers fan, but a solid 30 year old 4/5 starter now doesn't have to be held onto when you're playing for a few years down the road.
  23. folly412
Best thread title ever. Let's do it again today. Take two Dougie!
  24. folly412
I said months ago if any of the players we traded for have sniffed the ML level, I would disapprove. Sticking with that.

Just realized it was the same series as the 9-0 comeback I posted above. Would have been a treat to experience that. Strange cycle history for the Brewers - Moeller's is still the only one out of seven to be at home. And the last three: Moeller, a backup catcher who normally couldn't record one hit, backup outfielder Jody Gerut, and George Kottaras, another backup catcher who couldn't hit and is still serving as a backup catcher for AAA Charlotte.
