  1. Only bothered by hearing "Neh-BULL" and "Kuh-NEE-Buhl". Like, hard to believe they've even watched the guy pitch when they can't even pronounce his name.
  2. Too bad Shaw isn't in the Final Vote. On par or better than the others. Plus he's been anchoring our lineup all year, while Thames, Braun, Villar have been on the DL. Mark Reynolds plays in Colorado in a lineup with three other All-Stars (two starters) who haven't hit the DL once.
  3. As rough as it is trying to fill one rotation spot, guess we'll have to choose two between Espino, Jungmann, Blazek. Don't see how you can put Guerra out there without figuring out his issues first.
  4. http://ballparkdigest.com/200905261902/minor-league-baseball/news/affiliate-dance-2012 A look at the affiliate shakeup after next season. Projects Brewers to Fresno. A lot of local and/or long-standing affiliations, and even those that aren't (Vegas, El Paso) not perfect. Can only hope Stearns can pull the magic that got us into Carolina and get us into one of those IL franchises in New York.
  5. Suppose this is start of 2019, so we'll see how the affiliate dance plays out when we're up after the 2018 season.
  6. Tom‏ @Haudricourt 25m25 minutes ago More Nieuwenhuis was primary backup in CF to Broxton, who opened in huge slump. Franklin, Perez, Thames, not really CF types. Perhaps Santana. Considering he can't even play serviceable RF, perhaps we not try that experiment again.
  7. Sounds rough. Was easier to listen to Jerry for a minute there. Until he teased us with three or four "Brekkaballs". Now I'm not so sure.
  8. Or where hipsters can buy his Korean jersey to wear to the game?
  9. The NCAA 1-68 list put UW at #29...not sure how you put 28 teams ahead of them. Every mock bracket I saw had them as a #6 with some upside after righting the ship and getting a few wins. Some very weird seeding of the Big Ten teams. Marquette (and really the entire Big East) seeded about where everyone was expected, a couple spots away from the play-in games. Quite the gift for SC to play so close to home as a 7 seed, but don't think either is getting by Duke in that pod.
  10. http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/18178051/new-cba-ending-all-star-link-world-series All-Star Game home field gimmick is finally over DL reduced to 10 days Seems to be some details to open the door for more international/special event games
  11. "The slugger is looking to cut down on his strikeouts and get more disciplined at the plate." Has Brewer written all over him!
  12. Agree. And those in the "routine" of going to games are also going to park and head in after a day of work and school, know their way around the park, and explore the options. Those who only get to a couple games a year are going to get to the park a couple hours early, bring their own food, and maybe grab a beer and sausage at the nearest stand to their seats once they get inside.
  13. Great news. Would love if they work out the ownership stake. This really was a critical piece - such a difference between strong, very ideal affiliates at A/A+/AA versus a huge gap in the middle. Hopefully they can solidify the other pieces of the development pipeline over the next couple years as well.
  14. This. And this is also on ownership. Shell out some money and buy a good affiliate in a good league. We need to rely on development. Having your affiliates in desirable places and knowing you aren't going to be squeezed out to an undesirable location is hugely important. An affiliate like Carolina wouldn't even be a terrible investment. It could be had for a fraction of what they've previously committed to for multi-year contracts to aging pitchers who performed poorly, they're in one of the fastest-growing metro areas in the country and on the other side of Raleigh so not really competing with AAA-Durham for attendance. Add in some consideration of the difference between another "worst at its level" affiliate and one in a good league that you can control, and it doesn't seem like a terrible drop in the pond for Attanasio.
  15. 5 2/3 scoreless in the pen after that debut start. And looks like he's settling in. No reason to put a 27 year old back in the minors; put him in the running in the spring, and if he can't crack the rotation he seems like a fine bullpen piece.
  16. Nice to see Wang moving up to AAA and doing well in his first start. He's still only 24, and he's a lefty.
  17. Thought Peralta was closer to being the second pitcher in opening day rotation to pitch himself down to AA. Hope we get to see Suter at some point. Another dominant start yesterday, plus a 6'5" lefty from Harvard is certain to be an interesting watch.
  18. Best of luck to JJ in Texas. He's been a true pro for us the past few years. Wouldn't hesitate to sign him back if and when the opportunity presents itself.
  19. Seems unnecessarily hasty. From starting service time, to Arcia being underwhelming in AAA but just 21, to committing Villar to third and Perez to a utility role. It seemed like the direction eventually, though with the luxury of time it's strange that it's being done now.
  20. Think he'll be ok. Just getting healthy, and seems to be starting to come around. It's pretty standard. Either conditional, or a Brewers' option. If it's specifically after MiLB season, could be the latter.
  21. When it's a salary dump move. In a case like this, it's not a certainty. We won't get another top 100 player (because it's not Gallo, and we already took Texas' others), but I suspect it won't be a scrub.
  22. Can't complain. Ortiz projects as a top 3 starter and is 20. Brinson is only 22 and has dealt with injuries this year. While it can't be another top 100 (because other than Gallo, the Rangers are out of them), it's not the type of deal where the PTBNL is usually a "thanks for taking salary" scrub. Now have the 14, 22, 30, 50, 57, 58, and 74th best from BBA's mid-season list. 7 of the top 74 isn't bad, especially being just a year into a re-build.
  23. We got this for Will Smith? Firesale, go, go, go!
  24. Half of reviews are meaningless since they don't seem capable of factoring in any additional considerations to simple safe or out calls. Blocking the plate, pushing runners off the bag just too complicated for the review booth.
  25. And, undo button hit. Milwaukee Brewers ‏@Brewers 3h3 hours ago Milwaukee, WI OF Domingo Santana (right elbow soreness) placed on the 15-day disabled list, retro to 6/8. OF Keon Broxton recalled from Triple-A @skysox.
