  1. Possibly baseball's deepest farm and our deadline was spent acquiring a backup catcher and a pinch runner...
  2. Most interesting thing will be how they handle $100M owed. Either solid prospects going to Minnesota to include a lot of cash or a "lackluster" return to be rid of the salary.
  3. Better than the trades in the past that have felt like trades just to make a trade. Like the Norris and Chafin deals that looked pointless from day one and only produced Chafin memes to show for them.
  4. Having like the worst farm system in baseball on top of it. Had a couple of generational talents and are never truly relevant. Horribly run franchise.
  5. Kwan is a LHB. Better than Frelick or Collins against RHP, but much worse than them against LHP. But I struggle with that as well. Would we be so bold as to move Collins to 2B and Turang to SS mid-season? That's a huge boost to the lineup, but a gamble defensively.
  6. True, we aren't ever (nor should) empty the farm and go "all in". We can (and should) be willing to give up some of our very loaded system in our current situation.
  7. Just making sure he's the September call-up and we don't have to find a roster spot sooner.
  8. Second in ML run differential +102, Cubs +106. After all the Blue Jays noise last week, they're on a 4 game bender. Baseball is hard. This run is very incredible.
  9. They keep saying Ashby and Hall are starters pitching out of the pen. But I think Ashby is a bullpen arm only. And Hall is a big maybe.
  10. My take of not caring for it is based on: 1) We don't have the luxury of handing out development ABs while in first place at the end of July. 2) It's not taking ABs away from Capra or Dunn where you just let it ride with the young guy (like was done for Durbin). Durbin has been excellent. 3) Would want to see more of a sample size facing ML RHP from Durbin to sit him, given his MiLB numbers actually show sizable reverse splits.
  11. Another case where optioning Myers makes no sense to me. He's far more likely to finish the game, or he could have gone a couple in middle relief.
  12. I don't really get it. But 80% of the time when that is my reaction it works out well so I will refrain from saying anything stupid. Go Arnold!
  13. Vaughn might see a boost in home runs at AmFam, which is the second highest MLB park in expected home runs for him (behind Great American). Some of the AL central parks he played in are tough to hit homers in. Kaufman and Comerica rank as the two most difficult stadiums in MLB for him to homer, though Rate Field does play above average.
  14. Nestor is ready, and Tobias at his worst is this and at his best can pitch past the 5th inning.
  15. Another weird one: Eric Lauer has been a key pickup for the Blue Jays, who now have the best record in baseball. Just last season, he had an ERA near 5 in the KBO and was non-tendered.
