  1. Maybe we should have traded Gamel yesterday, he seems the odd man out here. Pretty much have Shaw getting the nod over him. I tend to think Grisham might be only up for the day to be honest. Or for a couple days. Gamel isn't going anywhere. I kinda figure on one of him or Shaw getting sent down tomorrow for Perez. I still am a bit concerned with Grisham's defensive ability for the game today...this seems like a bad idea. Would be better to play Yelich in CF and Thames in RF with Braun DH. Dude, based on what? Grisham is a CF prospect and has been playing there all season (88 GS in CF, 3 GS in LF)
  2. Not sure where you're getting that from. Career splits: vs RHP, 4257 PA, .751 OPS, .327 wOBA vs LHP, 1752 PA, .752 OPS, .327 wOBA
  3. Yes please!! Cabrera has always been an underrated hitter and though he is having a down year he has noticeably improved in recent weeks. Not a good SS anymore but he can at least backup Arcia who should be starting everyday over Saladino anyway. Zero platoon splits in his career, he would be great off the bench. I'll be disappointed if Stearns doesn't take a look give that Dubon is now gone and Saladino has been awful.
  4. This...1000%. Don't use the term "significant" for a deal like this. "have an agreement" or anything resembling that is fine, but "significant" is reserved for players like Will Smith or Madison Baumgarner. Can't believe he said that. When Murray used that term he obviously didn't know the players involved (or he would have named them). Blame the anonymous front office source who told him.
  5. That horse is still twitching. You keep on beating that thing until it's a pulp! Let me ask you, are you satisfied with the rotation right now?? Is it division winning quality to you?? I'll hang up and listen to your answer Who would you have traded for that the Brewers could realistically trade for that would magically make our mediocre rotation good?
  6. And here is the absolute kiss of death for Dubon's MLB career.
  7. Maybe? Black is 29. If he has that much potential, what is taking him so long to stick bigs? Major injuries. He was drafted out of college in 2011 but after tearing his labrum he didn't even pitch until 2014 (age 23-24), and he missed basically all of 2017 with an elbow injury. He's 29 but he only has 186 career innings across all pro levels. Plus, I actually don't think 29 is that old for a reliever. Very volatile players and the dream is just to catch lightning in a bottle.
  8. I forgive you. I'm just saying that scouting and impartial projection systems think there is major upside. (And walking everybody is actually not a decisive issue if you are a RP with this kind of strikeout potential)
  9. I like Dubon but it probably says a lot about how the front office evaluates him that we have been stuck with Saladino for two months.
  10. Hard for me to say a 29 year old has huge upside as anything. He strikes out a lot of dudes, walks a lot of dudes and gives up a lot of homers. He's maybe a middle relief type guy. FWIW, he had a lot of buzz coming into this season. The stats back it up, Steamer for example has a rest-of-season projection of 3.01 ERA, 3.10 FIP, 13.3 K/9. Don't just look at his ERA in 25 career innings.
  11. Pomeranz career stats out of the bullpen: 92.1 IP, 2.83 ERA, 3.24 FIP, 9.6 K/9, 1.130 WHIP
  12. Ray Black has huge upside as a backend reliever. Hader, Knebel, Wahl, Black, could be a bullpen of death with lockdown guys sporting 12+ K/9 next season (not even counting a Jeffress rebound or Peralta)
  13. Not sure how much it will move the needle in 2019, but this is a fantastic return for Aguilar who looked like a DFA candidate most of this season. Faria has real upside as a starter.
  14. It is interesting though that both players were similarly hyped as draft prospects for their elite hitting ability. Grisham's development took a few wrong turns, but now here he is clobbering the ball while being actually a few months younger than Hiura. What if Grisham is just a late bloomer (as far as professional success goes) and he had gone to college instead? If that were the case the current prospect hype may be much closer between the two. Granted, Hiura also plays competent 2B.
  15. I wonder if the Brewers were in talks to be the third team in this trade that just happened, that is with us getting Bauer instead of Cincinnati?
  16. I've spent this entire trade season terrified that the Brewers would trade for Bauer. THANK YOU CINCINNATI!!!
  17. The Mets have underperformed but on paper they have a playoff-caliber roster. I don't think it's crazy at all to add in arm to try and make a run in 2019 who is also under team control in 2020. Particularly since the return looks like a joke for Toronto. This is only a comical movie if the Mets now go out and trade Syndergaard.
  18. Stearns is trying to trade Shaw and wants teams to think we would actually roll with him as our everyday 3B for the reason of the season.
  19. [sarcasm]He's going to love playing across the diamond from Rocco Baldelli[/sarcasm]
  20. Ranking Adley Rutschman in the top 10 is preposterous. These rankings never amount to very much.
  21. I think Lux is a reasonable starting point for a Syndergaard trade, depending on how you value the latter. But why would the Dodgers give up their top prospect when they already have a playoff rotation of Kershaw-Ryu-Buehler?
  22. Fly the bel(L)e flag!
  23. Uh, clearly he doesn't. Hiura is demolishing pitchers right now with a 1.038 OPS and people are still arguing that he has a massive hole in his swing? (Earlier in the season it was that he couldn't hit fastballs: he tied the game tonight on a 97.2 mph fastball)
  24. I was so excited for Wahl coming into the season One day we will still get a Hader-Knebel-Wahl power trio.
