  1. He had a .349 OBP last season, he has a .340 OBP this season, and he's going to hit 30 HR again too while holding down 3B and now 2B. He was the best player on the team last year and he would have been again this year if we didn't have two MVP-caliber additions at the top of the order. Yelich and Cain are more valuable obviously, but Shaw repeating his 2017 breakout is one of the most important reasons we are where we are. If Shaw had regressed like Santana and Arcia we might have Sogard starting at 3B right now. (Only half joking.) That's why I give him the nod over Aguilar, since even if Aguilar had stumbled we had other adequate replacements at 1B.
  2. I will never get tired of rooting for Davis given how many doubted him when he was coming up in the minors, but guys who can give you 40 HR and absolutely nothing else are actually not that rare. It's sort of the inverse of why 2018 Arcia is so frustrating - incredible defense is not that hard to find if you have zero obligation to hit.
  3. Something other than him being comically inept at the time? Granted that's hard to remember after his years of relative success in KC.
  4. MVP - Cain Obviously can't go wrong picking Yelich, but I'm truly convinced that Cain is the most talented overall baseball player to play for the Brewers in my memory. Elite defense and fundamentals with a .400+ OBP at the top of the order. Cy Young - Hader I can see the argument for Jeffress, but overall Hader has been otherworldly. Watching him pitch when he is firing on all cylinders (as he frequently is) has been the highlight of a very entertaining season so far. MIP - Shaw In all honesty, Aguilar is probably a better pick here because he carried the offense in the first half when our #1 and #2 options at 1B (Thames and Braun) were injured or ineffective. But I'm going to pick Shaw because he doesn't get enough credit for being consistently great all season, even after being asked to play a difficult up-the-middle position he had NEVER played before and more or less flourishing there.
  5. Yelich has played so well that this trade would have been a "win" even if he was a rental and Brinson had been good. The fact that we have Yelich for the entire prime of his career is insane!
  6. He did, he's batting 8th. Arcia was switched in to bat 9th (first this inning)
  7. I think the chance that Hader comes out for the 9th is less than 0%. It had to be killing Counsell to pitch him again here after going two on Monday. Go Grandy! Huge insurance run. Really nice pickup there. Hader want he PH by Arcia nust befpre? It was 1 pitch so you blink you missed that. JJ for 9th. They did a double switch (actually like a quadruple switch)
  8. We're going to need Hader over the rest of the season and into the postseason. Zero reason to push him there.
  9. Although this thread is made in jest, Gonzalez is a notoriously streaky pitcher and the fact that he had one good start is actually a very positive omen in my opinion.
  10. Why exactly do the Dodgers get an automatic bid into the postseason? They would still have to fend off the Cardinals (who are ahead of them) and the D Backs who will be in the same position if the Dodgers loss tonight. Sure, I don't disagree with your previous post and I hope they're eliminated outright. Just pointing out that the Dodgers are uniquely bad for us among the Wild Card contenders. (Or should I say bad for the #2 Cubs? )
  11. A one game playoff against Kershaw is not ideal.
  12. We've got four more years of this guy, in his prime, for less-than-arbtiration salaries! David Stearns is the real Most Valuable Playa
  13. Anderson has a 1.169 WHIP and Gonzalez has a WHIP of 1.531. So the answer is yes and it's not really close. A decent WH/IP is not as impressive when it's almost the same as your HR/IP
  14. I didn't see the game, but who pitched the ninth, Knebel or Jennings? Gameday has Knebel in the 8th and Jennings in the 9th, the MLB box score has Jennings in the 8th and Knebel in the 9th. Can't believe they haven't corrected one or the other yet.
  15. Domingo falling off a cliff this offseason suggests teams may have been scouting/valuing him correctly, and Stearns understandably refused to sell for that price when Domingo was coming off an excellent season.
  16. Can I just post the laughing emoji? All I really want to do right here is post the laughing emoji. Sure. The emojis are on the lefthand side of the posting screen. Are you having browser issues? Looks like this:
  17. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but it's slightly annoying to see so many Brewers fans attacking a new acquisition after a brief cold stretch, when that guy has a proven track record of being an excellent player. This isn't Yuniesky Betancourt... That seems like the behavior of the dreaded "casual fan"
  18. He's making a run at one of the worst HR/9 seasons in Brewers history (currently #4 or possibly #3 now) although #1 Braden Looper may hold an unbreakable record.
  19. Chase lit a fire, but thankfully it burnesed out
  20. Those pitches weren't even close. Time to pull Trashcan Anderson!
  21. It wouldn't be crazy to let him have some low-leverage innings this season. He's having a nice season in the minors results wise (low ERA and very few HRs), and it is possible to be successful with a comical walk rate (for example, last year Dellin Betances had a 2.87 ERA and 6.6 BB/9, and Carl Edwards Jr. had a 2.98 ERA with a 5.2 BB/9).
