  1. Aguilar closing in one of the three greatest Brewers first half since 2002, behind 2009 Prince Fielder (.442 wOBA) and 2007 Ryan Braun (.441 wOBA), although Braun was only 179 PA. He was 8th coming into today but the two HR should help. (FanGraphs leaderboard doesn't seem to go back past 2002 for whatever reason)
  2. Woodruff is a great prospect but I don't think he has top of the rotation upside. I would have no problem dealing him for a major addition. Hiura and Freddy probably the only two prospects I wouldn't trade for anyone.
  3. Cain Yelich Machado Aguilar Shaw Thames Miller Yikes. That would definitely be the best 1-7 we've had since 2008, if not longer.
  4. That was like an optical illusion. Looked clearly safe from the angles where you couldn't see Swanson's hand, but then did look out/too close to call from the other angle.
  5. I like Barnes just fine, but I think any RP (maybe excluding Hader) should have an extremely short leash if they put the first two runners on without recording an out. On the other hand, we are in the middle of a long stretch without any days off and Counsell may be hoping that guys can go full innings.
  6. Escobar would be a nice add if he doesn't cost us much.
  7. It's also possible they are having Woodruff work on something in AAA at the moment and would rather given Wilkerson a spot start or two to reward him for his 2.08 ERA at AAA this season.
  8. The Brewers also got one of the most dominant half-season performances in major league history. I'm not sure that trade wasn't worth it even if we had a crystal ball and knew what Brantley would become. You can't always just add up total WAR and declare that side the "winner"
  9. I would be more cautious in giving up a lot for him. His ERA has consistently and dramatically underperformed his FIP/xFIP for his entire career now (411 IP) which makes me think there's something about his style of pitching that supports an inflated BABIP. The Manny Parra effect, in other words.
  10. He's a major upgrade over Villar. Dietrich career: -4.3 UZR/150 at 2B (1522 innings) Dietrich career: .335 wOBA (1875 PA) Dietrich 2018: .363 wOBA (294 PA) Villar career: -9.3 UZR/150 at 2B (1315 innings) Villar career: .313 wOBA (2008 PA) Villar 2018: .297 wOBA (235 PA)
  11. Broxton crushes LHP, Thames crushes RHP It should be Braun-Yelich-Thames against RHP and Braun-Broxton-Yelich against LHP
  12. Gray looking good in a Brewers uniform. Have a good feeling about him.
  13. I understand that if you gave them both 1000 PA, the projections systems wouldn't forecast Saladino and Sogard to be that different (though I think Saladino is still comfortably better), but even assuming they are similar players you have to take into account how they are performing this season. Saladino has looked very solid, Sogard has looked completely lost by any measure. It's not a difficult choice.
  14. Not only has Cain been the most valuable from a statistical point of view, but he's been a spark plug for this team. Definitely my first half MVP in all senses of the term.
  15. I certainly don't agree that Sogard is better than anybody in the majors right now, but across 2017-2018, Sogard has been better than Villar. Villar would have negative fWAR again this season if he wasn't being propped up by flukey defensive metrics that are out of line with his career of being an atrocious defender.
  16. Tough break for Rasmussen going from a first-round pick to below slot here, but hopefully he has a long and successful career in front of him!
