  1. I don't even care about the Shaw to 2B element of it, I just think Moustakas is one of the most classically overrated players in baseball, so I'm surprised Stearns went in for him. Though again, Phillips and Lopez is not much to give up at this point.
  2. I don't get this at all, maybe I need to sleep on it. I'm not too worried about what we gave up either way though.
  3. I wonder if we would try to dump Anderson in a trade (Miller and Villar could be non-tendered). We could have a decent starting rotation if they let Peralta and Burnes take over, plus low-cost depth like Suter and Woodruff. First-year arbitration guys Guerra and Davies trade candidates as well. Nelson Gausman Chacin Peralta Burnes
  4. Three-team trade? Moustakas is not the kind of guy for whom you move Shaw to a position he can't play.
  5. Not a huge fan of low-OBP guys like Schoop, but obviously he's an upgrade over what we have, so it all depends on the cost. I like that he's under control for 2019 as well.
  6. Gausman, yes please. He has 2.5 years of team control left and just screams a chance of scenery guy. Get him out of Baltimore and he could really impress.
  7. 0% chance of that being true
  8. Murphy was rushed back (in the sense that he sat on the DL all season and they finally had to do something) before he could even move around comfortably, I wouldn't read too much into his poor stats. Though the fact that he may still be nursing an injury is an excellent reason not to pay too much for him.
  9. This is basically my take on the trade. Very high upside PITCHER for an old expensive reliever who may be a 10 week rental......yuuuuuuuuck. Correction: Mid-tier pitching prospect who we would probably lose for nothing otherwise, for one of the best relievers in baseball.
  10. So please tell me, is Medeiros on our opening day roster next year, or who else are you willing to cut loose to give him a 40-man spot? We don't get to just develop these guys forever and wait for a miracle to happen, that's not how it works.
  11. I've seen multiple sources list that option as a team option, not a mutual option... Cot's and other sources have it as a mutual option, unfortunately That makes less excited about the deal, but Medeiros had little to no value for us at this point given his control issues still not improving and the upcoming 40-man crunch
  12. Soria is not a "lights out" reliever. He's a 34 year old having a good season, coming off decent but not great seasons in 2016 and 2017. This is a disappointing end to the Brewers career of a former 1st round pick (and 12th overall). Soria was arguably the best closer in baseball at his peak with the Royals, and across the last two seasons the ONLY relievers (40+ IP) with a better FIP are Roberto Osuna, Craig Kimbrel, and Kenley Jansen.
  13. 1-year/$10 million is not "very expensive" for a backend RP these days We gave almost half that to Boone Logan, and elite RP generally get paid by demanding multi-year deals (when RP are very volatile) They should absolutely pick up Soria's option next year
  14. Sophia is amazing. What is this thread?
  15. Dozier would be nice, but don't you feel he's going to be overvalued based on his 2016-2017 seasons, which were outliers in his career?
  16. Take whatever the Machado package was and offer it for Chris Archer, who is better than Machado anyways and not a rental.
  17. With a runner in scoring position it seems worthwhile to at least taking a chance at scoring the go ahead run. Must really not have any other pitching options? Hader and Burnes presumably can't go (and we definitely don't want to injure them), so I think all you have left is Jeffress who CC probably wants to reserve for a save situation and anyways could only go 2.0 IP or so. Lopez is probably going to get ridden to death here until we get a lead. Maybe a different decision if Kratz himself wasn't such a bad hitter.
  18. Wow, not good. Kratz for the most part hits like a pitcher. Might as well leave the arm in.
  19. That's the starting 2B job. He's lost playing time here and there, more often recently, because he has been bad. He's started more games in the field than newly-minted All Star Jesus Aguilar.
  20. I know this is an extreme counterfactual and some of the players used to acquire others technically crossed paths, but imagine if we still had Gennett and Segura right now
