  1. Cmon, we were all told repeatedly that he had two different fastballs and was a future ace by a specific poster on this board
  2. Win-Loss record: 88-74 Postseason: Wildcard Highest Postseason level achieved: Wildcard Loss All-star game representatives: Yelich, Grandal, Hader, Moose Offensive player of the year: Yelich Starting Pitcher of the year: Woodruff Relief Pitcher of the year: Hader Most surprising player: Woodruff/Moose Most disappointing player: Peralta
  3. But wait, I thought there was collusion? Honestly good for Manny in waiting it out... 10 years for $300 million is pretty impressive
  4. Love this hire! Matt LaFleur was on the offensive coaching staff when these QBs had their best pro/college seasons: Jared Goff 2017 Matt Ryan 2016 (MVP) Everett Golson 2014 RG3 2012 Matt Schaub 2009
  5. Football is not a tournament-style sport - especially not when most players are students first and will never play football again after they graduate. Football is a tournament style sport in every other level besides Division I college. From high school, D1A, DII, DIII, NFL, Canadian, AFL -- they all have a tournament to decide a winner. Four teams is just not enough. It's way too much about marketing right now. Do you think if West Virginia had the same resume as Oklahoma that they would have gotten in? I would say not a chance and that is simply not fair.
  6. Absolutely. However, with no disrespect intended, the opinion and evaluation of a MLB scout is going to carry a lot more weight with me than that of anyone here. Especially when there are so many oft repeated misconceptions stated here. Furthermore, he doesn't live on an island. He maintains many connections in the scouting world and his opinion is well-backed. And with no disrespect to you, almost every online scouting service has Woodruff ahead of Pertalta in their rankings. Everyone of those guys that do those rankings talk to scouts as well. Isn't the beauty of scouting that everyone can watch the exact same two players and see a different outcome? This is all that Joey is saying.. it's not nearly as cut and dry as you are making it out to be.
  7. Of the recent 1st round QBs (2016 and 2017 not including 2018 since it's too early to evaluate), Goff and Mahomes look like elite franchise QBs for sure, and Watson, Wentz, and Trubisky all look like franchise QBs with normal growing pains along the way. Only Paxton Lynch has been a true 100% bust. Not sure where you are getting that most totally fail or are huge disappointments or that the odds of drafting a replacement are terrible. 2016 and 2017 do look pretty good, but if you go back to 2014 and 2015, you have Jameis Winston, Marcus Mariota (who is ok), Blake Bortles, and Johnny Manziel. I agree with Plush, it's just a crap shoot when trying to hit on the one that will become a franchise level guy.
  8. Something to do with the mecca floor. Didnt really catch the explanation. They are actually pretty spot on.
  9. This is incorrect, the Badgers rescinded their offer to Days when he wanted to commit over the summer.
  10. Right, but that's the bias of hearing 99% of fan talk coming from Packers fans. If you listened to Vikings or Bears fans that often, you would come away with a much different opinion, believe me. Like you said, impossible to prove one way or another. No doubt the Packers fan base is full of really bad hot takes. That comes with the territory with any fan base. But Packers fans in general at least know more 3 players, they know some history of the team, general concepts of offense/defense, etc. So you may not think Packer fans are smart, until you compare them to the fans for every other NFL team. I'm grading on a curve ; ) I agree, we are bias as we hear all the hot takes on sports radio, in bars, or the office. I think generally, Packer fans are pretty smart. Although then there is this.
  11. Yeah and I think that is why Stearns went and got Schoop even though it made no sense to a lot of people. Clearly Schoop has been awful and he got the wrong guy, but I give him credit for knowing they would struggle against LA/Chicago if it got to that point. I don't think Goldy is the guy either, but I agree, they need a middle of order RH bat going into next season.
  12. You can't quantify because there is no predictive value with it. David Ortiz dominated the playoffs in 2007 and then completely stunk in 2008. Did he suddenly become "unclutch"? Alex Rodriguez was known as one of the most "uncluth" players ever and then suddenly dominated in the 2009 playoffs? Did he suddenly become "clutch"?
  13. You all realize Baez is going to be up with the game on the line in the 9th right? Can't wait to hear the gushing from announcers if he comes through. Ugh.
  14. Why did he not double switch out Perez when he made the last out of the 6th. Arcia would have hit 9th anyway, but they could have left Woody in for another inning. Hopefully it doesn't bite them.
  15. Here's One Buster Olney: NL MVP: Christian Yelich, Milwaukee Brewers. Milwaukee benefitting from one of the best trades in recent memory, as Yelich continues to grow as a hitter.
  16. Milwaukee Brewers ‏ Verified account @Brewers Follow Follow @Brewers More RHP Aaron Brooks and RHP Jake Thompson have been designated for assignment. With the additions of LHP Gio Gonzalez and OF Curtis Granderson, the 40-man roster remains full.
  17. I am not saying I agree with this, but according to this article, the correct call was made. https://www.closecallsports.com/2018/08/ask-uefl-foul-bunt-or-ball-fouled-away.html?
  18. Closest I got was playing against Josh Habel from Dubuque Hempstead. He was drafted by the Giants and played one season at Huntsville for the Brewers in 2005. Never could get past AA.
  19. This is a bad take. You want to get rid of one of our MVP candidates who is earning $500k this year and under team control next year and arbitration the next three years after that? I get your point, but I think Brew is hoping to sell high. We have seen so many of the guys that "broke out" last year come back to earth that he doesn't want to see that happen again. Brew you can correct me if I am wrong. I personally would rather trade Shaw. He struggles so bad against lefties that I think it limits the roster. I realize he was a bit better in 2017 (.740 versus .580 OPS), but based on what I read, this is more in line with who he is.
  20. He has an 84 OPS+ in 417 plate appearances this year. This idea that he's only being judged on 50 plate appearances is ridiculous. His numbers for the season point to him being a bad hitter, not just his time with the Brewers. His career numbers show he is at best an average hitter. If you want to gamble at least $10 million that 2017 wasn't a fluke, more power to you. I'd rather just cut our losses and try to find an upgrade someplace else. Is this kind of like when you wanted to sign Jaime Garcia over Chacin?
  21. Let's take a picture when you post something positive.
  22. I would like to point out that Jose Ramirez started out the year 2 for 33. He may now post the highest WAR in history for all 3B. I am not saying Schoop will even be good, but the overreaction is beyond ridiculous.
  23. You may hate it, but I doubt it it has anything to do with Jesus'. That Bryce Harper guy seems to be doing pretty well since the homerun derby.
  24. I really hope this should have been in blue. I didn’t think it would even need to be. I call it my Skip Bayless post on Trout. Well done sir, that was the perfect Skip Bayless and precisely something he would say.
  25. I really hope this should have been in blue.
