  1. Second year in a row the Dodgers traded for one of or the top guy on the market. Hopefully it works out as well as it did last year for them.
  2. Duffy in his last start: 6IP, 0 Runs, 7K against.....the Astros. Clearly he is a talented pitcher that just has had a bad year on a bad team.
  3. He's been great amazing, but if the Mets call tomorrow and offer Syndergaard straight up for him, he will be heading to Flushing a few minutes later. lol Yeah, but that isn't happening, and that isn't exactly what I meant. Ha, fair enough, he sure has been fun to watch thus far!
  4. He's been great amazing, but if the Mets call tomorrow and offer Syndergaard straight up for him, he will be heading to Flushing a few minutes later.
  5. Sogard has started 16 of 64 games so far this season, so all those starts have amounted to 25% of our games. The Brewers went 10-6 in those games so I don't think that makes anyone look foolish. Um, he was 5 for 62 in those games and that includes a 3 for 5. That is definition of foolish.
  6. I know they haven't been great, but playing Choi consistently over Braun and Santana is quite annoying. Quite frankly, he has been awful outside his first two games. Now I sure hope he makes me look stupid!!
  7. I really think Wilson Ramos should be a target. He is a rental, but I wouldn't think he would cost much -- especially compared to Realmuto. He was great in 2016, injured most of last year, and has been solid so far in 2018.
  8. I don't think it is hindsight at all. Hader is the best reliever on the team. He has given up two hits all year (I realize the HR in this inning), but I said it to a co-worker as soon as he was removed, CC just can't get out of his own way....and this coming from someone who does like Albers.
  9. Briggs I love what you bring to this board, but this has to be a complete troll job. Davis is already 30 and has put up under 10 career WAR. Guys like him will not age well either. As a side note, I was watching the A's/Angels game the other night and Davis had two routine balls he went back on and both times, he dropped the ball. Both got called hits which was an absolute joke. Also, a ball was hit in the semi gap and the guy took second as he 9 hopped his throw to 2B. I thought Keith Law's Twitter reaction was pretty funny: https://twitter.com/keithlaw/status/980556483288092672
  10. 2018 Brewers Season Predictions Win-Loss Record: 84-78 Playoffs (Yes, No): No All Star Game Representative(s): Christian Yelich, Zach Davies Offensive Player of the Year: Christian Yelich Pitcher of the Year: Zach Davies Most Surprising Player: Manuel Piña Most Disappointing Player: Travis Shaw
  11. Perez is a lock. Might be Counsell's favorite player. He's a much better hitter than he showed last year. For the record, I am not saying you are wrong on any of these, but it just shows how much bias a person can have when either liking a player or not. Perez - Stunk last year -- "Is a much better hitter than he showed in 2017" Guerra - Great in limited starts in 2016, but stunk in 2017 --- "Will bounce back as he was our opening day starter and gained mph on his fastball" Villar - Amazing in 2016, awful in 2017 -- "Was never a prospect, was a one year wonder and should be DFA'd"
  12. Free throws were a huge issue obviously, but I was at the game and I do not understand how a coach expects to beat a zone with Happ, Iverson, and Moesch on the floor at the same time. You can't have two non-shooters and another who is afraid to shoot out there and expect to succeed.
  13. Heyman nailed it perfectly. 6. Lorenzo Cain, CF. He’s just a terrific all-around player who has been a big part of the Royals success. There doesn’t seem to be much (or any) chance he’ll stay, but there should be plenty of suitors, with the Dodgers, Giants, Mariners and Rangers among the most logical landing spots. Expert: $68M/4 years. Me: $80M/5 years.
  14. You literally said it. 100 losses, scorched earth, top 3 at minimum draft picks, huge bonus pools. Is it guaranteed to work? No. But at least I'm giving myself a shot at 5-8 WAR players making nothing (relatively) for the first few years of their careers so I don't have to go out and trade all of my prospects to get these guys. I said it last night. After the 27th out was made in game 162 I would've been shopping Knebel, Santana, Shaw, Anderson, probably not Nelson because he's hurt and has no value, maybe Davies etc. Doesn't mean I'd trade them but if I was blown away with an offer, you bet I would take it. I think they all overachieved last year and are due for regression and they're not really core players anyways, so you can always flip guys like that for prospects and have other prospects fill their spots. In 2015, the Astros won 86 games and the wildcard. Could you imagine if they would have traded away Altuve, Keuchel, and Marwin Gonzalez because they weren't big prospects and all overachieved (I realize that was the 2nd good year in a row for Altuve)? In fact, they got railroaded by the Brewers in a deal that year and I think they are doing ok for themselves. I guess I trust the scouts/GM to determine what the true talent level of this Brewers team is.
  15. I know Keith Law is not well liked around these parts, but he had Chacin as his 14th ranked Free Agent, ahead of Lynn (16), Minor (24), and Chatwood (41). All of those guys are going to get a lot more than what the Brewers just paid. His write up: "Chacin has pitched in the majors for parts of nine seasons, roughly five of them full ones, and has just over 1,000 career innings pitched with above-average results. Because of some ill-timed injuries, however, Chacin has earned over $2 million in just one season of his career, and made only $1.75 million from San Diego for his 2.4-win performance in 2017. His sinker/slider approach isn't always pretty -- he walks more guys than you'd like and generally tries to pitch away from contact -- but it works, as he tends to keep the ball down and generates enough weak contact to be effective. There's some downside risk here, as he doesn't have a real plus pitch to generate swings-and-misses, but he has enough of a track record to treat him and pay him like a No. 3 starter."
  16. I'm a fan of making some splashes this offseason, but Martinez may be way too expensive. It's a reasonable idea if it somehow can work out financially. Yeah after I posted that I kind of thought he would be too expensive. His numbers with the D-Backs are insane and going to inflate his asking price.
  17. Sign JD Martinez and trade Santana and more for a top of the rotation pitcher. Martinez is poor defensively, but put up 4 WAR in three of the past four years. He is only 30.
  18. Simply cannot thank the Mets enough for turning down that Gomez deal. No Domingo, No Hader, No Phillips.
  19. The one he fouled off the catcher's knee was right down the middle. He's clearly a guy who doesn't spend any time in the cage working on squaring up. Except he leads the majors in sac bunts.
  20. "Rick Kranitz appreciation thread Posted: April 24, 2016, 8:30 AM Brewers are on pace to have their worst ever pitching numbers. Meanwhile Brewer staff is headed by a guy who made his name coaching top recruits at Vanderbilt." The post above was made by a certain poster on this board and I thought it would be fun to bump, but unfortunately the thread was locked. I don't know how much credit the pitching coach should or shouldn't get, but the Crew's staff has been pretty amazing this year considering their past track records. In the article below it talks about how Johnson and Nelson worked hard to change his delivery even with poor results last year. It is a testament to both of them on how well he and pretty much the entire staff has pitched this year. http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/20754211/inside-secret-brewers-surprising-success
  21. That had to be one of the most fun non-Brewer/non postseason games that I have watched. Down to their last strike, Lindor doubles to tie it and then a walk off in the 10th. I can't even fathom a baseball team winning 22 in a row. Incredible!
  22. He is so incredibly bad. I have such a hard time listening to him. It's literally, cliche after cliche after cliche.
  23. 1. Brandon Woodruff - Already in the Majors and with progression, could be a solid #2 2. Luis Ortiz - Only 21 and seems to have turned the corner in AA 3. Lewis Brinson - I think CS might have hurt his development. Numbers are great, but breaking balls don't break and that's his biggest weakness. 4. Josh Hader - Don't think he can start but a comp of Andrew Miller is still extremely valuable 5. Keston Hiura - That bat will play anywhere and he is going to be fast tracked 6. Isan Diaz - My #1 coming into the year has disappointed in High A 7. Corbin Burnes - Hard to ignore the numbers he has put up this year 8. Trent Clark - Love the OBP -- if he can start hitting for average, look out. 9. Mauricio Duban - Think he starts at 2B for the Crew by end of next year. 10. Monte Harrison - Numbers finally seem to be matching the tools - love his upside 11. Corey Ray 12. Tristan Lutz 13. Brett Phillips 14. Lucas Erceg 15. Freddy Peralta 16. Phil Bickford 17. Cody Ponce 18. Marcos Diplan 19. Jacob Nottingham 20. Jake Gatewood 21. Mario Feliciano 22. KJ Harrison 23. Trey Supak 24. Troy Stokes Jr. 25. Bubby Derby
  24. The Cubs traded Jorge Soler for one year of Wade Davis. Prior to this year, that would have been like trading Domingo Santana for him. Would you really want that?
