  1. He had a bit more leverage to say 'No' in Milwaukee to playing OF as he was already under contract; it just meant he might not see as many at-bats (he didn't). He has/had little-to-no leverage this offseason as he was a FA; I'm sure he was a bit more receptive to playing OF as it would likely lead to getting paid in 2015. he had no leverage in Milwaukee, he was a free agent, who was not going to get his PA to vest his option by sitting on the bench because he refused to play anywhere but 2B. Infact, he probably hurt his offseason by NOT playing in the OF in milwaukee when he had the change (pre-Parra). If he could have shown any ability in the OF in Milwaukee he might have gotten more than a 1 year/2mil contract to be a back up 2B, 4/5th OF in Seattle.
  2. HHHHHHHHHHHHHHRRRRRRRRRRRRMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM... I WONDER WHO THIS MIGHT BE
  3. so he's okay with playing in the OF in seattle, but not in Milwaukee?
  4. where was his wife during this?
  5. POSITIVE MINDS BREED POSITIVE LIVES BRING ON 2015, WE ARE GOING TO DO THIS! 96 WINS! I SAID IT, IT SHALL HAPPEN!
  6. I LOVE YOUR OPTIMISM!!! MORE OF IT! LETS GO BREWERS! ITS ALMOST GAME TIME! LETS DO THIS
  7. how is that even feasible? do you have to show them your drivers license at the ticket gate to get the discounted rate? What would stop everyone from saying they're from the 5 county area?
  8. Are these prices expensive? Most lots around PNC Park are in the $15 - 25 range, and the garages across the river are in that range as well. Not a whole lot of street parking, unless you're willing to walk a mile or two.
  9. thank god thats over with. now, lets end the papelbon/krod rumors! bring on spring training!
  10. the more prospects/MLB players we give, the less of a contract we are going to take on. Bag of bats and balls to Philly Papelbons entire contract to Milwaukee Parra+Prospects to Philly Papelbon and $$$$ to Milwaukee you dont give more to take on more, you give more to take on less. its a simple concept.
  11. OMG you guys have seriously NO IDEA how excited I am right now that football is over! Its officially the beginning of the best and longest season of the year, Baseball season is here!
  12. little do we know... Manfred said this just to troll literally everyone.
  13. Im happy for Gallardo, this was a win win trade, he gets to go home to the team he grew up rooting for and the brewers actually got tangible players instead of watching him walk for nothing! best of luck to him!
  14. I am so into getting Paps. MAKE IT HAPPEN MELVIN!!!!!!!!!!
  15. I have no problem with this, especially if he's used in situations like Wang last year. Give the guy a shot to come back, pitch in meaningless innings late in blowout games to gain his MLB confidence back and see if theres something there. If there isnt, DFA him in June and bring up some MiLB arms from Colorado
  16. The scariest thing to me about the Pirates is that I don't think we've seen what Garrett Cole can do. We're about to get 175+ innings from Cole and they were pretty good when he put up 138.0 and 117.1 respectively. Assuming health I would expect Cole to breakout in his third year. In contrast, I see the Cardinals like you see the Pirates. I think they feel something from letting a strong arm in Miller go for Heyward who I see having just another blah year. That's a net-negative to me there. At this point I am more weary of the Pirates then the Cardinals. Sure, Cole is probably going to continue to improve, but his improvement is going to probably be offset by AJ Burnett, Liriano regression and Chuck Morton in the rotation. With a different catcher, too. It'll be interesting to see how Cervelli does replacing Martin. I just hope were both right, and that the Pirates arent all they're cracked up to be and the same with the cardinals!
  17. in 88 my dad mailed a baseball with a letter to bud's office in Milwaukee requesting an autograph for "one of Molitors biggest fans". I got the ball for xmas that year, it sits on my mantle and says "to michael, best wishes, paul molitor". I worked with someone who was a nanny for Pirates and Penguins players in the late 80s/early 90's, and she had stories about boxes and boxes of autographed baseballs that certain Pirates players had signed for him by other people that were mailed out. I have never believed my Molly ball to not be authentic, but I definitely think of that story from my past coworker every time I see an autographed ball online or in a shop.
  18. I AM ALSO EXTREMELY EXCITED ABOUT BASEBALL!!!!! I CANNOT WAIT!
  19. I am not buying the Pirates. Yes, they've got great farm players, but issues I have with their MLB team for 2015.. a. they lost Martin and replaced him with another Yankees catcher. as we all know, catchers can greatly impact the rotations performance, and I think Martin did that A LOT for everyone. it will be interesting to see how Cole/Liriano/Burnett pitch to someone else this year, and if they're able to continue that success they've had in past. Plus, Martin's production for a catcher was top notch for this club last year, and he came up big in key situations. I dont know if the new guy can fill those shoes b. they replaced Volquez with a late 30's Burnett. Not crazy about this, I dont think AJ is going to be anything great, but im sure he'll still manage 190 IP somehow. c. Harrison is an unknown. his 2014 year came out of nowhere. they're putting a lot of faith in him that he will not regress as he is their starting third baseman. d. which brings me to their 2014 starting third baseman, Pedro Alvarez being moved to first base, against his wishes. maybe its what he needs, the guy can crush, but he's been a blackhole of production both at the plate and on the field for the better part of 1 1/2 seasons now. They have Hart listed as an OF, which they have the most depth at.. he's clearly the backup/platoon 1B option as they have barely any other IF options beyond Alvarez having cut Sanchez/Davis. so their infield is Pedro/Hart at 1B, Walker/Kong 2B, Mercer/Kong SS, Harrison 3B. yikes.
  20. im indifferent with Sardinas, to be honest.. infact, I dont even care about him right now, im more excited about the two pitchers we got. I will miss Gallardo's utter dominance of the Pirates... .215/.291/.638 lifetime trip slash with a 12 - 5 record posting a 2.55 ERA in 25 starts, 169 K's in 155 IP. I dont even want to post his PNC Park numbers... they're just.. 6-3, 1.63 ERA in 11 starts, 76 K's in 72 IP. Nothing was better than watching Yo just dominate the pirates. nothing.
  21. I love the quote from Melvin I read on twitter of him saying "im tired of people leaving and us not getting anything in return". hell yeah, DM! Thats gotta be a shot across the bow for some of these players
