  1. Josh Ravin signs a minor league deal with the Dodgers today; earlier Sanchez had signed one with the Marlins, no word on Manzanillo yet. Sanchez seemed to always be a MiLBer that a lot of people wanted to see get a shot in milwaukee, wonder what kept him from getting a shot
  2. is it because Juanfran is leading the votes, or that Yuni isnt?
  3. The Diamondbacks announced that they have acquired Addison Reed from the White Sox in exchange for third baseman Matt Davidson. MLB.com's Steve Gilbert first reported that the trade was on the verge of happening (on Twitter). Reed, 24, has saved 69 games for the White Sox over the past two seasons, posting a 4.20 ERA with 9.0 K/9 and 2.9 BB/9 in 126 1/3 innings in that time. Sabermetric stats such as FIP (3.38) and SIERA (3.33) feel that Reed's ERA should have been substantially lower in that time. The Diamondbacks will control Reed through the 2017 season and he is not arbitration eligible until next offseason, making him a highly affordable piece to add to the back-end of their bullpen. Davidson, 23 in March, made his big league debut in 2013, slashing .237/.333/.434 with three homers in 87 plate appearances. The 2009 supplemental-rounder entered the 2013 campaign ranked as Baseball America's No. 88 overall prospect and MLB.com's No. 77 overall prospect. Davidson delivered on that praise by slashing .280/.350/.481 with 17 homers in 500 plate appearances prior to his promotion to the big leagues. He is controllable through the 2019 season and can't reach arbitration eligibility until at least the 2016-17 offseason.
  4. good for him! hope to make a trip up to the jake this summer!
  5. if by 1B you mean RF, then yes, Melvin has talked to Braun about making that move
  6. would have to go on 60-day DL to not count on 25-man roster, but he pitched in 2013 after TJ in 2012, with pretty good numbers, so he's not hurt anymore so they can't do this. You mean 60-day DL to not count on the 40-man roster and 15 day DL for 25 man, right? Or is there a different rule for rule 5 pickups? you're right, 15-day /25-man, 60-day /40-man, theres not a different rule for rule 5, I just had a brain fart
  7. would have to go on 60-day DL to not count on 25-man roster, but he pitched in 2013 after TJ in 2012, with pretty good numbers, so he's not hurt anymore so they can't do this.
  8. next season it'll be "dont let long-term players walk" and like Corey Hart and they'll resign Rickie Weeks for 4 years $60 million
  9. well he had TJ in 2012, and a friend of mine who follows the buccos closely told me that the reason why he was in rookie ball this year was because he was in extended spring training recovering and supposedly should have been in A ball this year. he said the organization was high on this kid, but he wasnt with the team long enough to protect from this draft with a 40-man roster spot when they've got so many good/great prospects to protect as it is
  10. I think its pretty clear that DM is not going to go into 2014 start of the season with a platoon at 1B and plans on getting an every-day 1B to start the season.
  11. Mariners Acquire Logan Morrison By Steve Adams [December 11 at 1:57pm CST] The Mariners have acquired Logan Morrison from the Marlins in exchange for right-hander Carter Capps, according to Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald (on Twitter).
  12. but so is milwaukee, so that wasnt a factor in choosing between the two, it was the money, both garaunteed and in incentives
  13. Corey Hart Could Make Decision Tonight By Charlie Wilmoth [December 10 at 7:59pm CST] Free agent first baseman Corey Hart could agree to terms with a team tonight, MLB.com's Adam McCalvy tweets. Earlier this week, a report indicated that the Brewers were prioritizing re-signing Hart. They also have a need at first base. Hart, meanwhile, has said he would be willing to take less money to stay in Milwaukee. Hart missed the 2013 season and has recently had surgeries on both knees. He hit .270/.334/.507 for the Brewers in 2012. The Brewers currently have Juan Francisco atop their depth chart at first base.
  14. this is all assuming that trout stays healthy the entire time and continues to produce at the same level or better every year. I dont belive he'll do both of those, let alone one for 11+ years straight.
  15. Dbacks would be getting a prospect with Trumbo
  16. Angels are really looking to move trumbo, played most of 2013 at first base
  17. seeing as how they didnt sign Cano, its no surprise they are spending money on old people
  18. at this point, they really should. you dont spend 200 million on one player to be 3rd place in your division
  19. They likely just bought the ROOT NW from DirecTV and not every market. The soccer deal may just be a programming filler for all ROOT markets. Pirates and other markets probably wouldn't want the Mariners controlling their TV distribution. Its a Root Sports channel though, and they have a studio in Pittsburgh. They are the network that airs the Pirates games
  20. we have ROOT sports here in Pittsburgh, makes sense why we'll get NW Soccer games at random points during the week
  21. whelp, he's probably just tied his job to Cano
