  1. http://insider.espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/9612015/mlb-future-power-rankings-2013-update bottom of the league baby based on the opinions of three ESPN analysts! the best is the "mobility" number, which is based on players under contract over the next 5 years and their value and potential moveability... after next year the ONLY non-arb contracts currently on the books are Braun, Gomez, Lucroy and Loshe. yet the dodgers have a mobility of 22! !!!!!!!!!!!!! come on! 5 players either in, or about to be in their 30's in contracts over $18 million EACH, plus two other contracts of 8 million, so thats 7 PLAYERS signed for at least 5 years, yet they've got a higher "mobility" score? cmon...
  2. I was hoping he was going to pitch in one of the pirates games since those are the only games I get to watch on TV all season... probably better to throw him at the cubs instead though
  3. 7 against the cubs 6 against the cards 3 against the reds 3 against the braves 4 against the mets
  4. How come veteran players don't get the excuse "He's just tired"? because
  5. I think you're right, if the injury is from your wife dropping a suitcase on your hand or pickup basketball game and they cut ties with you as a player, ending your contract completely, they probably would not reimburse your medical expenses as you go along. if its game related they probably would, but thats all defined in the CBA that I havent really read all that much into.
  6. 2 HR in 80 innings in the PCL is pretty impressive
  7. YES. this is obviously the problem.
  8. they dont bring someone up that they have no future plans for because whats the point?? the brewers are only responsible for compensation while under contract. if Lalli gets called up today, gets hurt in Milwaukee tomorrow and lands on the DL for the rest of the season, they are responsible to pay him for the remaining contract for this season. If Milwaukee then decides to cut ties with Lalli in October, instead of keeping him in the minors next year, they are not responsible for any compensation beyond the expiration of the current contract. so no, they would not owe Lalli anything next year if they cut ties with him, regardless if he gets hurt or not in Milwaukee. So to clarify if he gets an ACL injury and isn't officially cleared by doctors until next July, the Brewers wouldn't have to pay him anything for 2014? if they cut him, no. if he's still apart of the organization, yes. now, from my understanding, teams rarely cut ties with a player in the middle of rehabbing through an injury, they're more likely to 60-day DL them so they dont count on the 40-man roster anymore, or just remove them from the 40-man all together, but if the team were to cut all ties with Lalli in the middle of rehab, they wouldnt owe him any future monies.

  10. The Brewers have called up right-hander Jimmy Nelson, manager Ron Roenicke told reporters (including MLB.com's Adam McCalvy). Nelson, a second-rounder from the 2010 draft, has been a starter for the last three seasons but the Crew will use him as a reliever. MLB.com ranked Nelson as the top prospect in the Brewers system and the 88th-best prospect overall, saying that the 24-year-old has "a heavy fastball that elicits ground balls and sits in the low 90s." Nelson posted a 3.25 ERA, 9.6 K/9 and 2.51 K/BB rate in 27 starts at Double-A and Triple-A this season, though he didn't perform quite as well at Triple-A. Since he's being called up at this late date in the season, Nelson won't gain Super Two status and will be under team control through 2019. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2013/09/top-prospect-promotions-billy-hamilton-erik-johnson-.html

  16. awesome, hope this hurts them and helps us

  18. what a fun game to be at, after gennett got the first hit of the game someone behind me yelled "you suck Cole, ya bum!". ahhhh pittsburghhhhhhh
  19. yup, wont be a FA until 2015, final year of arbitration is the upcoming 2014 season. he only has 4 years of ML service time is how he's still within his arb years. his 07/08 seasons were brief appearances (39, 19 games) so they didnt really affect his arb-clock (he was still a pre-arb player, receiving league min when on ML roster). 2009 was when he finally got his first full year of service time (including service time from 07 and 08), which accounted for the first of his 6 years of arbitration.

  21. cant be on the 25-man, can be on 40-man, almost always ends up being a MiLB player, rarely ever anyone from the MLB roster unless they're a journeyman type player who is bouncing back and forth from MLB/MiLB
  22. I love the name Hobbs, really excited for this kid based on that alone
  23. If a "Player to Be Named Later" (PTBNL) is part of a trade, the PTBNL cannot be on an MLB 25-man roster (MLB Active List) at any time starting when the trade is executed up until the PTBNL is announced. Clubs have six months to agree on a PTBNL. A cash payment (typically $50,000 for trades involving players on the 40-man roster) can be substituted for a PTBNL if no agreement can be reached within six months.
