  1. no, not really, there are no actual facts known, just speculation as to what facts MLB might/might not have.
  2. So lets flip that around, in what other sport do teams freely give away young cost controlled talent for anything? the NHL does this, (Boston just traded their 1st rd pick from three years ago to Dallas who is still on his entry-level contract!!), numerous times during/after the season now that I thought about it a little. teams will trade a prospect or two for future draft picks in one or multiple future off-seasons. they also can trade any/every round of draft pick slots in their draft, heck they'll even trade NHL player negotiation rights for a draft pick if they know they cant sign the player before they become an unrestricted free agent.
  3. if Hart was healthy and the brewers were in the same situation record-wise, he'd be in Pittsburgh by the end of the month
  4. if anything, if the 2014 draft class has some promising talent, it makes more sense to me to try and GET a teams Comp Pick for a player (Orioles and Indians might part ways to get a player to stay competitive for august/sept), imagine if the brewers had 4 picks in the top 40 next year?
  5. Guerrieri who missed a start with a shoulder problem and now is down with an elbow issue? Even if he was healthy TB wouldn't do the deal, they aren't trading a potential #1 for a year and 2 months of Aoki and a draft pick. Why not? Because you only want immediate MLB solutions? I'd rather trade for the best possible talent than worry about how ready that talent is. A prospect has greater value than a draft pick. I have been trying to think of another sport where franchises trade draft picks for non-major league roster players, and the only thing I can come up with is trading draft picks in the NHL for prospects PACKAGED with an NHL-level player, or teams packaging draft picks and minor league players for an NHL star player. its rare to see teams trade off a pick AND a pro-level player for just prospects. especially if your team is going to be a top 5-10 draft pick, why would you trade off a comp rd pick that is going to increase your draft signing pool? If you're going to be competitive, like the Pirates last year when they traded off their comp pick for Sanchez, that makes sense... but if you're at the bottom with no hope, why would you trade off additional money?
  6. you dont trade picks for prospects, you use picks in trades to bring in MLB vets/star players. trading a draft pick for a AA player is not going to happen, let alone a top 40 pick. a pick will not be added in a trade of a brewer MLB player for prospects is what I am saying, teams looking to get a big name will package their comp pick in to get that player.
  7. this is not going to a court room, please do not associate this with juries or judges, this is being handled by arbitrators, who are not judges, and act as a jury of 3 in MLB/MLBPA grievance arbitration hearings.
  8. from McCavly's article from last summer: http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20120718&content_id=35142618&notebook_id=35145564&vkey=notebook_mil&c_id=mil It's complicated. But here's a primer on Wednesday's lottery: For Compensation Round A, the 10 smallest-market teams and 10 lowest-revenue teams were entered into a lottery, with odds of winning based on last year's regular-season record, for six picks after the first round and before the second round of next year's Draft. Because of crossover in those two groups, 13 teams were eligible this year. The Royals, Pirates, D-backs, Orioles, Reds and Marlins won those selections on Wednesday. Then, the eligible teams that did not win a Round A pick were added back into the hopper for Round B, along with any other team that received revenue sharing. This year, only one other team qualified -- the Tigers. The Round B winners were, in order, the Padres, Indians, Rockies, Athletics, Brewers and Tigers.
  9. its based on market size and I think attendance and previous season winning percentage? milwaukee has the smallest market in baseball, so i think its safe to assume they'll always get a pick in this.
  10. I hope they never trade him and sign him to an extension next year
  11. seven steps of just cause that MLB has to meet are: Was the employee forewarned of the consequences of his or her actions? Are the employer's rules reasonably related to business efficiency and performance the employer might reasonably expect from the employee? Was an effort made before discharge to determine whether the employee was guilty as charged? Was the investigation conducted fairly and objectively? Did the employer obtain substantial evidence of the employee's guilt? Were the rules applied fairly and without discrimination? Was the degree of discipline reasonably related to the seriousness of the employee's offense and the employee's past record? that last step will be what more than likely the MLBPA will focus on in every case of arbitration in proving that the MLB did not have just cause for the discipline, thus overturning the suspensions handed out.
  12. actual evidence doesnt get leaked to OTL, if it did, do you think they'd be able to write 500 articles about this?
  13. I think its fantastic that these picks can be traded, it makes me wish all draft picks could be traded

  15. July 17 Competitive Balance Lottery (and, if necessary, Forfeited Pick Lottery) *Tentative First date that assignable Draft selections may be traded (through Sept. 29, 2013)
  16. fixed. but seriously, come on... I have no idea what your post is getting at. junngmann, pena, nelson... all havent even played in the majors yet, let alone playoffs, so projecting the infield defense to play behind pitchers who are still in AA right now is sort of insane.
  17. its definitely been awesome/refreshing to see the last few weeks... makes me feel better with the idea of potentially trading off arms from the rotation in the next year or two
  18. the brewres first half of the season is about as good as Carly Rae Jespen throwing out the first pitch... heres hoping for a better 2nd! http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2851/9287528094_181a2156b1_o.gif http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7347/9287530792_ff5d82e75e_o.gif
  19. almost as good of a deal as Tabata's 7/16 mil deal with the pirates
  20. loved gorzo as a bucco, lovin' gorzo as a brewer, really hoping they keep him and dont trade him off. RRR already said he's moving ito the rotation after ASG and Figaro going back to the bullpen
  21. exactly. doing this ensures that the front office doesnt have to rush any MiLB arms from AAA/AA to MLB.
  22. it is a fact that Braun was tested far more than other players because of the failed test the season prior, even with the overturned appeal, its required by the Joint Drug Agreement, but I dont think the number of times a player is tested is public knowledge, that should be protected by HIPPA
  23. sums up the ENTIRE season. perfect gif.
