  1. I think his injury and start in the minors this season helped him get back in form for his return to the rotation. there was no real rush to bring him back, he's in a really good position right now.
  2. also the pirates have been a baseball franchise more than twice as long as the brewers have been, and 3 of their 5 world series were before the brewers existed.
  3. when was the last time the pirates have had a winning season? 1992. world series? 1979. the game of baseball is much different now than it was then, the brewers and pirates are very much similar in terms of market and money, it has nothing to do with what either team has done in the past
  4. Yeah, I guess people have forgotten that the Pirates have been a complete bottom barrel MLB team for the past two decades. No winning seasons since 1992...suddenly they're a "powerhouse". I get they're playing great baseball right now, but some perspective is in order. not even that, look at their payroll over the last decade while the nuttings have owned the team. they only have a payroll over $60 million this year because of Burnett and Wandy, who the Yankees and Astros are paying a majority of anyways. Outside of Martin the Nuttings spent $1 mil on Liriano, $1 mil on Sanchez and....... cheapest owner in baseball, gives Loria a run for his money.
  5. I think you'll see Halton start a few games at 1B before you see Morris called up. there is no reason to bring up Halton and then Morris just to have Halton ride the bench... some of the hacks he had at last nights game in his only at bat had some carry on them
  6. Lol at anyone thinking the nuttings are better mlb owners than Mark A.. what a joke.
  7. Highly unlikely that he gets a raise. He doesn't have the comps to get more than $5M - he is a setup man this year (no saves), and setup men don't get $5M/year. He had a bad 2011 on top of that so what comps does he have to support $8M/year? it hasnt been a full season, so you cant say yet. if they trade off krod, then theres the chance Axford could close again with Henderson. even as a setup man, if he's able to perform great and not give up runs like he's been doing for the last month, he will absolutely get a raise. arbitration awards for relievers are not based on games saved, they're based on overall performance, and if he has a stellar second half and does not get traded, he'll definitely get a raise.
  8. yeah, as much as id love to see Axford a Brewer for the long haul, after he priced himself at $5 mil through arbitration... it only goes up from here. I dont think I can recall a single time someone went to arbitration and got less than the year before, does anyone know of a situation like that happening? He seems like a perfect candidate to go to Detroit IMO
  9. 1.000 AVG! MVP BABY!!!
  10. can Yuni pitch?
  11. if they trade both KRod and Henderson, do you really have any other option at that point? Gonzalez? I feel like that should be in blue
  12. if they trade both KRod and Henderson, do you really have any other option at that point?
  13. the employment question was one I was not able to adjust much, but yes, service industry would be considered hospitality. I realized the limitation of the employment question after we got approval through the program, for anyone else, just do your best to match up to what you might fall under. internet use at work would include usage during breaks and lunch, unless your breaks and lunch periods during work are long enough for you to go home to use the internet. thanks for your questions
  14. morning everyone, this is sort of an odd request, and I hope it is okay for this forum. I am at the end of my graduate program and am working on a study on computer use in the work place. I have put my survey instrument up on surveymonkey, all information collected is anonymous, and will not be used outside of my graduate school program. Below is the link, if you have questions about anything feel free to send me a message. The survey should not take more than 10-15 minutes to complete. Thank you for your time, I do appreciate it! https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/X9TVX8K
  15. hoping for his first start to be tomorrow in pittsburgh! I was at Segura's first game last year, and going to be at Hellwegs and hopefully Halton's!
  16. theres no way Narveson is coming back before september, they just took him off the 40-man roster.
  17. thank you, I was getting myself confused
  18. oh I see what you mean, yeah, players who declare themselves free agents can still be offered an arbitration offer from their original team... but I dont think the amount equals what a qualifying offer would be.
  19. that is a qualifying offer, that is not arbitration. arbitration is where one team offers one amount, the player/agent offer a different, neither side agrees and they have an arbitrator decide which of the two amounts the player receives. if you can share examples of what you're talking about Invader3K, i'd like to know what you mean.
  20. they cant go to arbitration, he's a free agent. the team no longer owns the rights to him after October 2013.
  21. if not him, then who? they couldhave just brought up Thornburg, right? but he'd be pitching on short rest, and we all saw how much of a disaster he was last year being mismanaged (among other things).
