  1. I love it, holy hell, the reasoning is awesom. JEFF LORIA!!! HAHAHAHA THIS RULES!
  2. Green and Bianchi are out of options, so they'd have to clear waivers to go to the minors at this point. might as well give them one last shot before becoming PTBNL bait.
  3. Seems to me the phone would be a landline and more secure and are already in place. Whereas some technogeek may be able to grab the radio chatter from a radio. Just in case they want to talk about North Korea or something.... they're actually moving to cups on a string between the dugout and bullpen
  4. blood testing is happening, just fyi in regards to everything said in this thread http://cdn0.sbnation.com/imported_assets/506587/explodinghead.gif
  5. glad this was clarified though, contract control must have been arbitrated because there's nothing showing previous to this article about Aoki being under MKE control until 2017.
  6. thats surprising, im glad I was wrong
  7. That's not necessarily true from what I've read. If they get some kind of evidence (other than just writing on a piece of paper) that Braun was using, they could still suspend him. I'm not sure if it would be the 50 game ban or something else but I'm almost positive I read somewhere that they could suspend him for something if they determined and had proof that he used. But I think if there was any proof (again other than a piece of paper), it would have come out by now. In order to have an arbitration award vacated, it is usually necessary to demonstrate at least one of the following in court: There was a serious conflict of interest on the part of a neutral arbitrator; the award was not final and thus failed to constitute a definitive end to the issue; or, the award covered an issue that was outside the scope of the arbitration agreement. Arbitrator fraud or misconduct claims are rare because actual evidence of arbitrator misconduct is hard to come by. When courts are faced with motions to vacate an arbitration award, they will generally only look at the procedural details of the arbitration, not the substantive details. This means that courts won’t look at the merits of the case unless the claim involves the award itself being unreasonable or unethical. Ultimately, fraud is very unlikely to be a winning argument in court unless there is definitive evidence. An arbitrator’s binding decision isn’t fraudulent just because it’s unfavorable.
  8. The MLB union is too strong, especially after last year they will have a real difficult time ever suspending him. the arbitration decision is binding and they cannot overrule it, so braun can only be suspended for additional failed test results. its not that the union is too strong
  9. wouldnt buy the hat, would buy the jersey. want. want want.
  10. he was tested far more than any other year last year too, though blood testing was only done in spring training, urine testing was done more frequently for him last year (more than likely as per the MLB CBA/Joint Drug Policy thingy for positive test results regardless of suspension). if whatever drug he took only shows up through blood tests, that makes sense why he waited until april. my take on the $1,500 owed is that Bosch and Braun went to a fancy dinner, Braun no-showed, and Bosch ran up the tab and claims Braun owes him. what a jerk.
  11. probably because the newspaper cant afford a potential defamation suit whereas yahoo could easily handle it

  13. I want that to be in blue, but I know its destined to happen....
  14. oh well, another card bites the dust
  15. Rodriguez May Not Return To Yankees By Ben Nicholson-Smith [January 31 at 8:14am CST] Alex Rodriguez’s Yankees career could be over. The third baseman is unlikely to play for the Yankees again, no matter what happens with allegations linking him to a supplier of performance enhancing drugs, Bill Madden, Christian Red and Teri Thompson of the New York Daily News report. The hip surgery that Rodriguez is recovering from “will likely derail his playing career,” according to the Daily News reporters. This would force the 37-year-old into a diminished role and could lead him to consider retirement or a settlement. Even before this week’s news, Yankees officials had already begun preparing for the probability than Rodriguez would not finish the five years remaining on his contract. Rodriguez could retire as a result of the injury if it's as serious as expected. This could allow the Yankees to be reimbursed for up to 85% of the $114MM remaining on his contract with insurance companies covering the bulk of the commitment. It’s also possible Rodriguez could return in a diminished role and decide to retire. Under this scenario the Yankees would discuss settlement options with him, the Daily News reports. 16. all they have to do is prove any of those players possessed banned stimulants/hormones/steroids and they'll be subjected to the disciplined outlined in the MLB JOINT DRUG PREVENTION AND TREATMENT PROGRAM. they dont have to use it, they could be clean, but if the doctors notes say the players posessed the substances, and there is notation of payment for the substances, the burden would then be on the players to prove they didnt posess the substances.
  17. payroll was higher, attendance was down, 2nd year of the scoreboard, they had to enshire Uecker, i mean, it all adds up
  18. The Brewers have an internal budget of around $85MM for 2013, a significant drop from the team's record $101MM payroll from 2012, Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel writes. The drop has been attributed to management's desire to retain flexibility for future moves and an unwillingness to spend on what the Brewers felt was an overinflated pitching market. Haudricourt hears from a source that the Brewers "lost several million dollars" in 2012 Read more at http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/#ELPM6GcucgVLReCi.99 so this is pretty interesting, I think, and I really like the fact that they didnt pull the trigger on any of the FA SP arms out there. currently payroll is at $76 million, they've already sold a million tickets for the season, almost as quickly as they did last off-season when they still had Greinke and Marcum coming off a playoff run.. maintain the flexibility in payroll to add in the summer if needed, and if not, keep that space to extend players this fall, or sign some other FA players if they dont. also, HighandTight lost his prediction, and I won my bet.
  19. Im okay without lawrie, that kid is a punk.
  20. yeah, I agree with that!
  21. making 1.6 million dollars in Japan! not bad! good for him!
  22. well, to be fair, whatever was wrong with Capuano was surgically fixed... whatever is wrong with Marcum.... will still be wrong with marcum come August/September/October
