I liked Gorzy when he was a bucco, excited to root for him again as a brewer! good 5th starter/spot starter and bullpen arm.

I would think if the brewers were going to sign Karstens, Ryan Braun would suck it up and be the team leader and welcome a new player. I would hope he wouldnt tittybaby about the signing. that said, after watching Karstens the last couple years quiet a bit, i'd take a flyer on him for a Spring Training invite with a chance to make the team

lets just note that the "one good season" was a REALLY REALLY good one season that netted a Knuckleballer the CY Young. just let that sink in. a knuckle ball tosser... won. the cy young.

Its because Melvin knows the world is ending on the 21st, so why waste his time

Yup. Five years, $80 million it sounds like. Tigers had to up their original bid to get him, though. the tigers can afford it, and anything that keeps the cubbies in the basement and a beating bag for the brewers is okay with me. with houston gone, we need all the wins we can get from PIT and CHI!

signed with Tigers, HAHA, screw you cubs!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

gotta think Marcum has to still be in the mix... with numbers like this over two years in Milwaukee, Melvin would be straight up mental to not consider him if medically he's okay. of course, Melvin knows better than we do about Marcums makeup in terms of his health and conditioning... but if someone came up to me and just rattled off these numbers and said "1 year, $10 million with optional 2nd year" i'd say "wheres the pen?" 20-11 with a 3.60 ERA, 267 K, 98 BB, 1.198 WHIP, 7.4 K/9, 2.7 BB/9 over 54 starts.

I am 100% okay with that! I am optimistic that he'll find an arm or two that will be comfortable with a 2 year deal that will be able to contribute to the teams success, while giving our prospects an opportunity to continue to develop

also, the fact that only 4 teams have ever gone over the defined dollar amount for the tax shows that its completely useless. to have the tax have ANY effect on competitiveness and equal share of talent it needs to be lowered closer to $100 - 110 million instead of $189 million.
  17. torts
baseball does not have a salary cap. it has a TAX over a defined dollar amount that any team can choose to go over. the NHL has a salary cap. what MLB has is nothing like what the NHL has/had/will continue to have.
