  1. where is Jeff Suppan and Braden Looper when you need them
  2. loved escobar, bummed he was traded
  3. well, we are losing the worst team in the division, so its not going to be AS terrible as it has in the past...
  4. Exactly. This fits Melvin's "don't rebuild, reload" approach to player acquisition. Which is hard for a small market team to pull off, and probably impossible long-term, but it sure keeps things exciting. If this happened there'd be a new 2-year window to compete. Hopefully some of our young arms will contribute within that window but I'd still expect Melvin to attempt to shore up the rotation in FA this off-season. I even wouldn't put it past him to deal prospects again to fill holes. 2-years also closes the weeks/hart/ramirez windows on this team, and leaves one year left on Gallardo/Lucroy window. so I mean, getting Andrus would finish off the current window we are in right now... barring any of those names getting traded
  5. I think we need to trade for more OF
  6. dont worry, he'll be riding the bench behind Izturis/Ransom at SS if he gets traded here
  7. look at that, Bianchi got optioned for Henderson
  8. they're not going to release k-rod. there are many other players they can DFA or send to the minors before releasing k-rod. like bianchi, for one.
  9. I know, i read that and thought, seriously?! even the optimist in me was questioning that logic! AND I LOVE TO FIND OPTIMISM IN ANYTHING I CAN!!!!
  10. http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/blog/danny-knobler/19656179/after-disastrous-trip,-brewers-are-ready-to-sell
  11. theres no way to actually trade KRod is there? no one could possibly want him............
  12. So... maybe make the thread title a tick better than useless? no
  13. it could, but I dont want to talk about transactions, I just wanted to point out its funny that other teams can just have him just for the contract
  14. •The Brewers will trade Randy Wolf "for nothing if you take the money," according to one official. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2012/07/stark-on-marlins-phillies-dodgers-garza-twins.html
  15. gordy is hurt, when gordy returns, Hanley will go to 3B
  16. Do they plan on putting Hanley at 3B or SS (replacing Gordon) though? My initial reaction to the Hanley trade was that they'd no longer be in the market for Aramis. his optimistic excitement got the best of him and he forgot that
  17. You still haven't said where you saw this "reported." I did, USA Today, Nightengale did, but only as far as saying that Marlins have put Johnson out, and now that Hamels is locked up, Rangers made it known they'd be willing to part with Olt.
  18. I'll agree with that statement. Our minor league system has a lot of rebuilding to do. I don't agree. In fact, that's where I've turned my optimism- to the farm. For anyone paying attention, Fiers and Maldy have performed very well- better than anyone thought they would be, especially Fiers. Rogers and Burgos have pitched very well. In the case of Burgos, so well you can't ignore him anymore. Peralta and Thorny have been up and down, but there is hope there. As there is with some of the bulpen arms like Sanchez, Henderson, Kintzler, etc. Not to mention there's still reason to watch the starters down in Brevard and Appleton. Now that Khris Davis has decided he wants to play baseball after-all, he has been on fire. Morris is showing he may be for real. Other guys at each level in the minors that are capable of becoming legit prospects. Do we have a Braun or Fielder in the system? Probably not. But plenty of reason for optimism. AWWWWWWW YEAH BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  19. http://content.usatoday.com/communities/dailypitch/post/2012/07/hanley-ramirez-traded-to-the-dodgers/1 thats where it says Johnson is now available and that the Rangers are willing to part with Olt for him
  20. where are you guys seeing Johnson for Olt?
  21. who says I ever stopped from last night?
  22. GREAT!
  23. Here is breakdown of money the Pirates will owe to Wandy Rodriguez: They'll pay $1.7M this year (of $10 he's making), $8.5M in 2013 (of $13M). If player option is exercised, Pirates will pay Rodriguez $7.5M in 2014 (of $13M).
