  1. I think a number of teams would offer Marcum a one-year incentive deal, which is why i'd offer arbitration to him to at least get return if he does find a team who wants to give him more.
  2. Lee is signed for 3 more seasons, Greinke isnt, thats probably why
  3. I know this wasnt an option, but id rather offer marcum arbitration and take a risk with him than pick up Wolf's option.
  4. you cant offer Lee a 5-6 year contract at this point because he's in the middle of a $24mil/year contract as it is, for 4 more years.
  5. offer him arb, find out in 12 days if he's going to take it, if not, move on. I think its the most harmless move, and you get an answer quick.
  6. if you're talking about Villenueva coming back, mnight as well talk to Bush and doug Davis, too, and just go back to 2006 :indifferent
  7. okay, so we all know how bad the brewers bullpen was this year, and with the holes uin the rotation with Greinke (boo), Marcum (boo) and Wolf (yay!) all gone or more than likely gone... heres a list of all of the FA arms this winter. as I posted in another thread, there is no way Melvin stands pat with a rotation of Gallardo, Estrada/Fiers and AAA/Narveson. There seems to be a lot of arms on the market this year compared to the last two, so acting as the armchair Doug Melvin, who would you like to see the brewers go out and get for the rotation and bullpen? Starting pitchers Scott Baker (31) - $9.25MM club option Erik Bedard (34) Joe Blanton (32) Fausto Carmona (29) - $9MM club option Bartolo Colon (40) Aaron Cook (34) Kevin Correia (32) Doug Davis (37) Jorge De La Rosa (32) - $11MM player option with a $1MM buyout Ryan Dempster (36) R.A. 8. the below list are the SP FA for 2013. I removed all the pitchers with team/player options so we see how many rotation arms there are available. I REALLY hope Melvin does not pass up on everyone, and there are a LOT of relief pitchers hitting the market as well. it'll be interesting to see how quickly some of these guys resign with their teams and come off the market. Starting pitchers Erik Bedard (34) Joe Blanton (32) Bartolo Colon (40) Aaron Cook (34) Kevin Correia (32) Doug Davis (37) Ryan Dempster (36) Zach Duke (30) Jeff Francis (32) Freddy Garcia (37) Zack Greinke (28) Jeremy Guthrie (34) Rich Harden (31) Livan Hernandez (38) Edwin Jackson (29) Hiroki Kuroda (38) Colby Lewis (33) Francisco Liriano (29) Kyle Lohse (34) Rodrigo Lopez (37) Derek Lowe (40) Shaun Marcum (31) Jason Marquis (34) Daisuke Matsuzaka (32) Brandon McCarthy (29) Kevin Millwood (38) Jamie Moyer (50) Ramon Ortiz (40) Roy Oswalt (35) Carl Pavano (37) Brad Penny (35) Joel Pineiro (34) Anibal Sanchez (29) Jonathan Sanchez (30) Joe Saunders (32) Chien-Ming Wang (33) Kip Wells (36) Chris Young (34) Carlos Zambrano (32)
  9. I cant imagine doug going through this off season without signing at least one rotation arm. theres no way he goes into 2013 with 4 home-grown arms and Estrada in the rotation. Marcum and Wolf are most likely gone, but i'd have to think out of all the FA SP's this winter, and the small window teams have now to tender offers and resign after the world series, that DM could find someone to come in and fill a spot.
  10. game is on TBS tomorrow, for anyone not in the milwaukee/washington broadcast area
  11. still has 3 full days, not worried really
  12. great post, thank you for this! I am really excited for him to have this opportunity! I am hoping he takes full advantage of it!
  13. I WAS HOPING IT WAS PENA!!!! SO STOKED!!! I like this deal! Especially if Texas wasnt going to part with Olt
  14. I WANNA KNOW WHO THE TWO AA ARMS AREEEEEEEEEEEEEE
  15. +111111111111111111111111111111111!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  16. yeah, i dont like what they did with thornburg... they should have left him in AAA and not rushed him to the brewers and just worked on 2013 for him in the MLB. theyve got a number of arms they could have brought up, peralta, rogers are the ones we know, but they COULD have called up Vargas or McClung (thank god that didnt happen) for a spot start or long reliever situation...
  17. Non-prospect like Quintana who has had a good month in the MLB, plus a couple other similar players? I would honestly prefer the sandwich pick. you are nuts, you'd rather take a player that may never make it out of A+ ball vs players who are actually already playing in the majors???
  18. No then it gets its own transaction thread since it isnt a rumor anymore. way to go ruin all the fun
  19. the second greinke is traded this thread will explode 20 pages
  20. im a pens fan, so I love the NHL coverage that I can get, but the steeler/pitt/Penn state coverage here is obnoxious. The one station, 93.7 The Fan FM is so awful. they brought in some ringer from NYC to do their late morning/afternoon show during the week and I seriously want to smash the radio. the NY guy will try and play devils advocate with every possible situation, including the Penn State scandal. havent listened since December. Thank you for the suggestions!!!! I use the TuneIn App, so thats perfect! Thanks Baldkin, too!
