  1. huge trade for the pirates, with MacDonald, Burnett, Karstens and Wandy all locked in for the rotation next year, pirates are making some good moves. first "blockbuster" addition for Neal Huntington since he became GM
  2. thing is, brewers arent making the world series, so they'll have all of october to have marcum checked up and worked on before they have to make the decision in the 5-day window after the final game of the world series. marcum will then have 7 days from the day the arb offer is given to decide. so at most, the brewers will have to wait 12 days to find out if he's taking the money or not.
  3. Blue Jays are trying to get Josh Johnson now, Miami is apparently trying to get rid of every bit of talent not named Reyes
  4. they can just have them
  5. out of all the trades we make, the only one required to get a return of anything is the cubs, if only... because its the cubs.
  6. Axford to the cubs for Castro
  7. I LIKE THE WAY YOU ARE THINKING HERE!!!!!!!!!!! Here are some trade proposals... Livan H and Mannu Parra to PIRATES for a couple primanti sandwich trays and Rinku Singh KRod to ASTROS for free jet fuel for a year and really... doesnt matter Dillard to REDS for a thank you card
  8. if we some how got Rendon i'd be 11110% okay with Greinke leaving.
  9. well he's not a rental player, they have control and MLB proven production and a decent defensive 3B player. so yeah, i'd say to get a player like Aram, you'd have to be willing to part with a top prospect of sorts
  10. would be funny if he waited until noon tomorrow to approve it, sounds like he was pissed that he found out about it via the media and not the cubs
  11. nationals are still high on Greinke... who could they part with?

  13. nope! im optimisitc the brewers will trade off KRod and Parra and bring up fresh faces in the pen and get back on the horse to .500!!!
  14. I take it back, he wouldnt be a Type A, because thats no longer used. the brewres just have to offer him the salary of $12.5 mil, or the avg of the top 125 contracts, within 5 days of conclusion of the world series. if he turns it down and signs elsewhere, THEN the brewers get a comp pick, and the signing team loses their 1st rd pick.
  15. im driving 9 1/2 hours with my wife and my parents in two weeks to see the brewers reminants play the cincy reds. so stoked!
  16. Ben Sheets would have. Wolf took it in the shorts last night in the same manner. He's been bad this year but better lately. Seriously though, your post that I quoted torts, it reminded me of old (bad) brewer teams and watching Sheets throw his glove and become irate in the dugout after the brewers bullpen would blow a win on him. I remember one game I was in Vegas. Sheets vs. the Rockies. Sheets left in the 7th with a 6-0 lead. Brewers lost that game 8-6. I put $300 on the crew in that game. I don't know who was more ticked off, myself or Sheets. thats exactly who I was comparing Fiers to in my mind, i just didnt want to say it/jinx him. nothing was more frustrating than watch sheets pitch a great game only to lose it by a run thanks to the bullpen.
  17. the only player alive with a shot to pass Pete Rose's record... it sucks that it wont be recognized as that since 1200 hits were in japan...
  18. if they trade greinke, they probably should keep Marcum. he doesnt have much trade value after missing this much time for shoulder/elbow issues. let him pitch out the rest of the year, offer him a contract/qualifying offer if he qualifies as Type A, and see what happens. just because they didnt offer to extend him this past winter, doesnt mean they wont this winter, especially if they lose Greinke and (hopefully) cut ties with Wolf
  19. braves aquiring Dempster, at the moment, takes them out of the Greinke mix. down to Rangers, Nationals and Angels as potential landing spots. or Milwaukee.
  20. thats one suitor for Greinke out of the mix
  21. while Weeks was an All-Star last year, they still were putting out McGehee and Betancourt on a regular basis, who were also close to automatic outs...
  22. I AM STILL OPTIMISTIC ON A .500 SEASON!!!!! I dont know about you, but I was out with my wife all weekend, away from the internet, doing things in real life with actual human beings. but hey! thanks for coming in here and raining on everyones parade! LETS GET BACK IN THIS! .500+ OR BUST BABY! Just curious, why would you root for a .500 season, or any arbitrary winning percentage for that matter? Personally, I want this team to win a world series or at least make it deep into the playoffs. A .500 season at this point is actually detrimental to that goal when compared to trading everything that wont be part of that next playoff team for prospects and bringing up the prospects. You're optimistic for a .500 season. Others here are trying to be optimistic this team takes the approach they should to try to win a world series in the next few years. Don't be a Debbie-downer on their optimism either, or go start a ".500 RECORD OPTIMISM!!!" thread of your own if thats the only thing you want to discuss. Why would I create another optimism thread when I created this one? As a fan of the sport, and of this team, I want to see them win as much as possible. I NEVER root for my team to lose, I think that is a terrible mentality, even if its "for the future", hence me wanting them to end the year over .500. I am all for trying out young players and prospects if its going to still give the team a chance to win! I am not for people coming into this thread ONLY to name call and be a negative presence. go in any other thread and do that, not here.
  23. I don't think he was raining on everyone's parade. I think he was raining on like 4 people's parade. 4 more than necessary! if you want to be a debby downer, realist, sell-sell-sell poster, go post in every other thread on this board! This thread is for optimism! this thread is for blindly wanting and rooting for the team to succeed!
