  1. Who is this Claudino I keep seeing reference to? [sarcasm]I really wish posters would proof read their posts around here.[/sarcasm]
  2. Pina just can't be counted on to be "the guy". He is a fine catcher but needs to catch like 70-80 games, max.
  3. I do agree that Lyles will be an interesting player to follow this season. This post might RIP as much as a lot of our offseason worries but this is one that could be a sad one to look back. Ya just never know I guess.
  4. Ignoring all your other ridiculous rudeness, the Cubs contract is one to compare to. You can make an argument the Brewers shouldn't go down that road financially (you did, and I don't totally disagree) but the Cubs contract is exactly the comparison that I'd bet Lowrie and his agent are looking at and trying to get.
  5. I'm confused. Are you really upset that I had a typo? The math added to $41M which is "something like" 3yr-$40M. But I do agree that $10M makes a pretty large difference (which is why I corrected myself after you pointed it out). Sigh. But I do agree with you on the fact that the Cubs are able to make more mistakes than us. I just don't think 2 years will get it done for Lowrie and since I see him as more of an all over the field player which seems to be something Stearns and CC love. I think 3 years is worthy of an attempt on our end. Guess we will find out what the Brewers think on that.
  6. Paying Jed Lowrie that much would be an anchor for the Brewers in the years moving forward. Also, when you are deferring that 9 million that is unaccounted for? Sorry, it was a typo. It was roughly 3 year - $40M. And yes, as much as of an anchor as Zobrist has been for the Cubs over the years. Maybe even something like 3yr-$36M gets it done as Zobrist was overall a better player during the course of his career.
  7. This is spot on I think. Jed probably will get more and deserves more. Something like 3 year - $40M might get it done. Frontload it so it is $15M-$14M-$12M. (maybe include a buyout in year #3?
  8. I guess I don't know why he would be a thorn in the Brewers side? Last season was an anomaly for his stat line and overall in his career against the Brewers, he carries a .218/.307/.318/.625 batting line. I mean, that is backup catcher territory trash.
  9. I'm sure he can, but it would be nice to address one of the black holes in our lineup now rather than in 80+ games, and that's more of a general argument for a catching upgrade in general rather than JT specifically. Not disagreeing at all just that if Miami is too stubborn to move off their asking price now, maybe we get a better shot at it come July.
  10. Your government teacher wouldn’t have been his job well if he had not had it become something talked about in your class. Current events like that should be covered. Now, how it is presented is another topic.
  11. Kratz can get us the the all star break.
  12. Jimmy stinks but that ball isn’t on him. Rodgers is and has been an issue all season long. Unless he changes and is open to coaching again, the ride is over.
  13. Could’ve swore Kiser started this game. Sure has that feeling.
  14. You have to admit, where you are teaching now in Cedarburg can't really have a better family structure environment, and better support from parents. Oh no doubt about it. Cedarburg is one of the more active communities when it comes to parent involvement that I’ve been around and it shows in a lot of ways. I was more so speaking in general terms across 50 states.
  15. Teachers salary all depends on the state and district in which you live in. I just got out of small town Iowa, making small town salary. Now in Cedarburg, WI making better money. And the problem I am hearing from teachers who have been there for awhile now is that they say the only significant pay raise you’ll get is if you jump districts. It’s a huge reason why there is significant turnover of teachers in many of the surrounding districts including mine. And Act 10 was/is the biggest factor in that. I won’t ever argue someone that having summers off isn’t a great perk of my profession. But anyone that tells me that teachers are fairly compensated across our nation and/or that school districts don’t need more money distributed to them, are complete and utter fools in my book. The demand and expectations of teachers and schools are at an all time high with the lack of family structures in our nation and yet we are the first ones blamed for a lot of societal problems even though those people are the first ones to cut our funding or tell us that we have it too good.
  16. Imagining a day where pitchers are actual athletes is fun to think about. Then I just picture Jimmy Nelson running the bases and remember how big of a turd most of these guys are. Good thing they can throw a ball hard I guess.
  17. People vote against their own best interests all the time. People get duped. FVBrewersFan’s wife is no different than a lot of people out there.
  18. Much like anything else in life, it is probably in between what both of you are saying. I don't think it is that revolutionary to totally honest. Just using our average'ish pitchers in a more effective way rather than letting them get clobbered the third time around. The rest of this is a pissing match.
  19. Can tell it’s the off-season with eight pages of posts over this type of transaction.
  20. The Brewers have plenty of assets to sell off if they need to build the farm up more. This is a solid move going into this season as one of the biggest struggles Stearns has had is finding a LOOGY for us to actually get outs with.
  21. Did we miss out on anyone that people thought would help us?
  22. Cards need to find a team that needs a DH. That's where that guy belongs.
  23. I just hope they win and there is a Vikings loss so I can at least pretend to care about this season for another week.
  24. Fixing the catcher and 2B positions might go a long way for the pitching issue we may have if some guys don't perform to what they did a year ago. It will also take a little bit of pressure off guys like Cain & Yelich to not always have to be the producers.
  25. 15 innings. What a game! Without Lyles efforts we don’t win the central.
