  1. Or, Villar has settled into second base and his numbers are reflecting that.
  2. Coin flip game. Maybe they win, maybe they lose. I have an offer out on a new home so I am hoping it is entertaining to keep my mind off the wait.
  3. Thanks guys. Didn’t make it to the game today so bummed on that.
  4. Did Braun almost hit one out? Uecker sure got excited.
  5. I think it would. To make the transition a little easier, one could start with the rule that every reliever either has to start an inning, finish an inning, or make 30 pitches. While this wouldn't be as ideal as my first suggestion, it would at least eliminate the worst possible time wasting scenario where a reliever enters the game mid-inning (wasting 5+ minutes), gets one out, and then gets relieved for AGAIN (wasting another 5+minutes). Most of the time, not even beer is sold during this interlude, since it usually happens after last call. The worst time waster in baseball is during every pitch, of every at bat, of every game. Pitch, batter steps out, undoes his batting gloves, takes 17 practice swings, looks around, adjust jersey, more practice swings, adjust cup, step in, tap plate, call time, redo, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc. It used to be that there were select players that took part in this ritual, now EVERYONE does this. EVERYONE. This wastes WAY more time than the 2-3-4 times per game that we might see a mid-inning pitching change. Do you need to unzip and re-tighten your batting gloves 5 times per at-bat when you didn't swing? I'd wager that you probably don't. Brandon Belt had a 21 pitch at bat back in April and that took THIRTEEN MINUTES. That's absolutely ridiculous. I'm not a huge Brent Suter fan but I like watching the guy work. He gets the ball and he pitches. There’s definitely truth to this. I hope they enforce the pitch clock. I also like the idea of a 20-25 pitch rule and/or you must face a certain number of batters (3?). Jim’s original post wasn’t to knock on last nights game to call it boring but there are aspects of how the game pace could and should be improved. It will only help the game out overall.
  6. You’re not alone in this thought. We know the game has changed and it may never change back but it doesn’t make it any less annoying as to how long these games take. Pace of play will be something that will be a battle in the near future. It will be interesting.
  7. Might have been gamesmanship by Counsell. Braun might have needed another night after his injection. Or maybe it's the same old story where Counsell minimizes the severity of a Braun injury only for him to wind up on the DL a couple days later and doesn't come back for a few weeks. Braun had his bat in hand, losening up in the bottom of the 5th. Maybe he was a decoy there but it didn’t look like it.
  8. Adam = Tony LaRussa Brew = Mike Matheny Calling either one of us Cardinals sounds like fight’n words. I guess at least I was once a Brewer in this scenario.
  9. I'm a little worried myself. Baseball needs to evolve. Really really focus on shortening games. Attendance is down 5-6%, I read this is first year there will be more strikeouts than hits. Not good. Ball in play is good for attention spans of people these days. Eliminating specialty pitchers would be great.
  10. I can't decide if I want to be Sogard or Munoz in this comparison. Both options suck. Let’s be neither because I agree, both options suck. Cheers!
  11. Now there's a good joke. Now you’re just trying to hurt my feelings. ...does this need to be in blue for you too?
  12. We had relievers still arriving when the players were already headed back to the dugouts. Need to work on the cardio. Imagine if Albers wasn’t hurt. He’d need to bullpen cart to get him there.
  13. I like how you got all mad a few days ago for basically nothing in one of the main threads and said I was attacking you. I even said, "Sorry, didn't think it was a big deal." But when the shoe is on the other foot you're always "just joking". K. Joke on, then. Dude. It was in blue for a reason. Your post was about as “no duh” as they come. Apples to oranges comparison. Again, looking for a battle I see.
  14. Yeah I used to be on the side of an eye for an eye. And then I grew up. It does absolutely nothing positive. I wish the MLB went hard after anything they deemed to be intentional.
  15. meh they are riled up after the near fight. Cubs fans its every single flyball If the ball was even near the warning track I might agree.
  16. Well Brewers fans. No more complaining about Cubs fans cheering for fly balls after that Thames at bat.
