  1. I think we could see a lot of what happened tonight. Miller starts at SS, we hopefully get a lead and let Arcia finish it off with good defense.
  2. Being a no-name first baseman it is nearly impossible to be a lock. Outside of that Fangraphs has him as the #7 first baseman...in the NL. Right behind him is a well know name Bellinger. I’d have to say he is quite far from a lock...maybe even on the outside looking in. How many 1B even typically make it? Freeman, Votto, and Goldy are all no-brainers over Aguilar. Belt also likely easily over Aguilar. Yeah I’d say Agauilar might get put on that last vote in thing.
  3. Our new shortstop on twice tonight. Aguilar bomb, Yelich bomb after a Braun double. Peralta looking great. Keep it up crew!
  4. The way he has been hitting recently, they might just leave him behind on purpose. We have enough guys already that don’t get on base at least 30% of the time.
  5. At least Kyle Wren is gone so we can stop hearing about him.
  6. I 100% disagree with this. There is ZERO reason the Brewers couldn't/shouldn't sign him long term...they have the payroll flexibility to do it easily. Whaaaaaat? You think the Brewers could hand out a $300+ million dollar deal easily?
  7. I believe he is but it depends what you’re replacing it with. Santana and Phillips not living up to their hype has probably killed that move for this season.
  8. Orf has a .663 OPS on the road and a .250 average. Maaaaaaybe that’s a big reason he’s not given an opportunity.
  9. Learned their lesson? Oh stop. They know what they’re doing more than us because they have all the information. Playing the what if game is pretty silly.
  10. Don’t forget having to pay a guy like Orf a major league salary instead of his peanuts he’s being paid now. It all matters on the bottom line.
  11. There’s economics to these calls too. Usually overlooked by fans.
  12. How many teams replace a Travis Shaw with a Travis Shaw? Getting a bit unrealistic about how depth works. Miller could probably step in there, Perez too and keep that position afloat.
  13. More alarming to me that it’s not Phillips. Top prospect no more in my eyes.
  14. You really might want to lose this as apart of your vocabulary.
  15. Outta be interesting on defense tonight but it’s probably the best offense would could put out there.
  16. How’s this look: 1. Cain- CF 2. Yelich- RF 3. Machado- SS 4. Shaw- 3B 5. Aguilar- 1B / Braun- LF 6. Thames/Braun- LF/1B 7. Hiura- 2B (or Villar) 8. Pina/Nottingham- C Bench: Pina/Nottingham, Braun/Thames, Perez, Villar, Miller
  17. If we called up Braun earlier in 2007, we make the playoffs. His stats those 4 and a half months were nuts. If this is the next Braun like bat, call him up. Braun also had four minor league seasons and over 800 plate appearances. Keston has about 500. Just for comparison.
  18. The Braves seem to have like 10, 19 year olds. Get Hiura to the show after the break.
  19. Et tu Brute (i.e. Kratz)? You were the President and charter member of the Kratz fan club last week. Also, I think Santana needs to, you know, actually play at Colorado Springs to get himself righted. He earned his demotion. Make him earn a call-up. He is what he is and I want to see Nottingham get a chance. Splitting 50/50 with Pina this year and hopefully he plays well and is our full time guy come next season. Kratz is much easier to option down. I get the Santana demotion but if Shaw is hurt, I would be all for letting Santana get a crack at some playing time. If not, call up Broxton I guess.
  20. Here’s what I’d do today if I was Stearns/Counsell. Other than catcher, set it and forget it until the all star break and try to get some offense going. Moves: - DL Shaw - Option Kratz, Sogard - Recall Santana, Nottingham, Lopez vs RHP: 1. Cain- CF 2. Yelich- RF/LF 3. Aguilar- 3B 4. Thames- 1B/LF 5. Braun- LF/RF/1B 6. Miller- SS 7. Nottingham/Pina- C (50/50ish) 8. Pitcher 9. Villar- 2B Bench: backup catcher, Santana, Perez, Arcia vs LHP: 1. Cain- CF 2. Yelich- LF 3. Braun- 1B 4. Aguilar- 3B 5. Santana- RF 6. Villar- 2B 7. Nottingham/Pina- C (50/50) 8. Pitcher 9. Arcia- SS Bench: backup catcher, Thames, Perez, Miller
