  1. Becoming more apparent that we should all be happy that we didn’t back ourselves in a corner with a huge free agent deal. What a huge piece he could be come mid season.
  2. OK, I'll play. What would that look like exactly? Anderson Davies Hader Ortiz F. Peralta All were acquired with trades and all could help, hopefully, at the big league level. Then there is Nelson, Suter, Burnes, Woodruff who were all drafted and groomed. This is a good list of guys who can fill out a rotation. All are young or were young, controllable talent. I hope we continue this type of acquisition approach because it will keep us out of terrible contracts for a small market team.
  3. Ahh that's right it was Melvin... And then we fleeced Stearns Luhnow. Got it now. Now you got it.
  4. Been beating this drum for a bit. Between this guy and Swihart. I would love to get either.
  5. So let’s not compete in that market. Let’s continue to find young controllable pitching and refuse to overpay there.
  6. This. This is a great sentence in a great post. Sometimes what we see as a vision for this team is just not the vision of the front office and that is okay. Sometimes our own speculations get us way too far off track as fans. I am good with not overpaying aging pitchers as it rarely does much for that team. We got luck or whatever you want to call it a season ago with our starting pitching and now this year we will see how much of it was “luck” and how much of it was progression due to our pitching coach and our front office targeting pitchers they see themselves getting more out of.
  7. Sogard being signed was silly. We have Perez. We have Villar. We have Orf and Dubon. And as it turned out, we could have had Walker. Spending $3+M on that guy is foolish. I would have loved for us to get Realmuto with Yelich. Would have been awesome.
  8. Where are we seeing this connection between Arrieta and MA? Feel like I missed something here. Or are we just speculating?
  9. Isn’t this what Brewers fans have been waiting for? Home grown, cheaper rotation that allows us to compete. If we didn’t go this route now, when will we? And heck we aren’t even including Hader in your rotation.
  10. I think the 1-year deal tells a story. The Brewers didn’t want to be locked into these guys for multiple years based on what we have currently and coming up as well as it probably shows they didn’t think all that highly of Cobb as a rotation changer. Good for them for sticking with their guns. Hopefully it will all work out for them.
  11. WR- Jordan Matthews is in for a visit with the Packers.
  12. On a more serious note, I saw a tweet by one of the brewcrewball guys and it said we offered Cobb 1yr/$12m. Anyone know if that’s true.
  13. Yeah. Wins and loses don’t matter. Hope they all just have fun out there and no one gets hurt.
  14. Never thought I would miss having Wang. Drakes bad. He’s not Wang bad. But they are both turds that don’t belong in a Brewers uniform. Always amazed at some of these guys that hang on rosters.
  15. I'm not overly concerned if Woodruff ends up in AAA to start the season. He can pitch his way back to the majors either by our guys being terrible or him doing well to begin the year. That being said, I would rather keep a guy like Suter in the long-relief role and start Woodruff.
  16. Why not go Nick Ramirez for pen if you’re even considering Drake.
  17. C: Pina, Bandy IF: Shaw, Thames, Villar, Sogard, Perez, Arcia, Aguilar OF: Braun, Yelich, Cain, Santana SP: Anderson, Davies, Chacin, Guerra/Suter RP: Knebel, Hader, Albers, Jeffress, Williams, Barnes, Gallardo, Hoover/Suter *Suter in the pen, Guerra makes it. Suter in rotation, Hoover makes it. **Woodruff comes up in June to save service time. Just thinking aloud here. My guess will be Woodruff just begins in the rotation.
  18. Me too, but I'm thinking they'll keep someone who profiles as a lefty specialist, and if that's not Logan, Drake would be the only other. If I am Gallardo and they took Drake over me, lefty "specialist" or not, I would retire from baseball.
  19. When did the fans of a team named for beer makers, playing in Miller park, playing in a city known for beer, become the high class sip a beer with your pinky out type people haha? Truer words have never been spoken. Well done.
  20. Miley may make the rotation but I think we are putting a bit too much on the outcomes start to start. He will be in the rotation if Johnson feels there’s something there to warrant it is my guess.
  21. This is becoming a drunken mess. Whoa.
  22. It isn't a foregone conclusion that you will get those last two seasons of results. That's what makes this game great. If he were to make the team, who knows what Johnson could turn him into. Maybe he doesn't even make it but you just don't know the end result.
