  1. Probably afraid of being sued.
  2. He can do this stuff at Colorado Springs. Or in the rotation. We can let Stearns decide that I think.
  3. Isn’t today’s outting from Miley more of a reflection of another poster that pointed out that he was a good pitcher for 20+ starts and an absolute dumpster fire for about 5-7?
  4. Miley getting lit up today. Bodes well for those that don’t want to see him make the team.
  5. Gallardo as a long man isn’t nearly as bad as signing a guy for your closers role that had no business being in that role. Williams has not seen a lot of action due to injury so I’m still a bit concerned with him. Talent is there and he may be great but I don’t mind seeing what a Gallardo can do in the long man spot especially if Suter is in your rotation.
  6. This is brilliantly stated. Well done. +1 Couldn’t agree more. We will soon find out if they hit their mark with any of these guys.
  7. You are using his statistics as a starter. There’s a decent chance he’s a serviceable reliever that can give you a couple innings at a time. He may not make it on our team but that’s what the Brewers are looking at him for.
  8. I don't think he will be as dominant as Hader was, but I think in a pen role, something like a 3 ERA and 10 K/9 is realistic, and that's an arm that should be helping us now. Certainly better than what I would expect from Drake or Yo. If anyone is trying to say Drake should make this team they should have all their Brewers gear burned. Okay, dramatic but that guy sucks. I get the Yo experiment a bit because he did well in a limited time in the pen a year ago and from the sounds of their coaches, they think there is something there as a long man. If that keeps a guy like Williams down until we find out which pitchers stink this season, I’m okay with that. Not all of our pen guys will work out most likely so it’s grest to have quality to pull up if/when that occurs.
  9. I think some might have too high of expectations for Williams. Just a gut feeling. He will do alright but as dominant as Hader might be wishful thinking. Also very doubtful that Suter isn’t in the rotation or a long man just by what Counsell has said previously.
  10. Why do people think the pitching success last year didn't include Nelson? Chacin isn't replacing that. Chacins career numbers very similar to Nelson. Were you talking up Nelson before he had his great season last year? I’d bet not. We’ll see what Johnson does with him. He’s had some pretty successful seasons.
  11. Isnt this the same for about 90% of the teams in the MLB? We have some minor success last season and pretend that this is going to change over night. It’s a very good reason as to why I’m good to wait and see how the season and some of our younger arms do before we go too deep into free agents that we don’t recover for 10 years.
  12. To me Suter is not a starter and Woodruff has plenty to work on.
  13. Another post I can get behind.
  14. I enjoyed this a lot. Thank you.
  15. Sounds like he should be expecting a gold glove trophy. Does throwing factor in? He still can't throw. [sarcasm]I said gold glove, not gold arm.[/sarcasm]
  16. Sounds like he should be expecting a gold glove trophy.
  17. I get the Nelson release. I am sad to see him go because he is such a great guy that produced so much during his time. I am hoping he catches on with Oakland so they can be my AFC team with Gruden.
  18. Do you have a source with the Packers? This is where Rodgers should pick up the phone and advocate for him to get his butt to GB.
  19. The problem is that while we will have an All Star OF sitting the bench every day, we could very well have a sub-par starting pitcher on the mound 40% of the time. We spent our resources to add two great players to our deepest position, while passing on seemingly affordable upgrades where we could really use them (2b, SP). While I am skeptical that the three guys who were so bad last year that we traded for Walker will suddenly be good, at least there is some reason to believe that Villar could bounce back. At the back-end of our rotation, I don't see much room for hope (other than at some point Nelson will return). I still find it hard to believe that Stearns thought spending the money to sign Cain or the prospects to acquire Yelich (blocking Santana/Braun) was more important than spending that capital to upgrade our rotation. As to Braun, I know the PED stigma will always be the first thing a lot of people think of, but outside of that he has been nothing but great for the Brewers. He's put up numbers that should garner Hall of Fame votes, he has been asked to change position multiple times and has never complained, he plays through obvious pain, he signed a team-friendly extension and later came back to the team to sign a deal that would make him a Brewer-for-life, and it has been noted that he tries to convince teammates to take early extensions. Now he knows that the team is in a roster-crunch and rather than doing what many players in his position would do, which is say "I'm the veteran and I'm going to play my position," he goes to the manager and basically says that he'll be a utility player if that helps the team, while taking extra reps at positions where he's uncomfortable. I don't know what the next few years will bring, but I look forward to seeing #8 hanging in the Miller Park rafters shortly after his playing days are done. I agree with most of what you said. The bolded part isn't really true because Braun has already begun to move to 1B. That will clear up a lot of this issue of having too many good players. Will it cut time for Thames? Sure. But okay, we are talking about a guy that had many cold streaks last year that was part of the big problem with this team. Maybe playing less will keep him more productive during parts of the year. He's no spring chicken either. The part about the second base positions is a bit overblown too. If we wanted Walker, he'd be a Brewer. They obviously like the three-headed monster that they have or they would have gone in another direction with that position. I get the frustrations over the rotation as well but again, it's not where Stearns feels they need to add resources to. He obviously didn't want Lynn. Arrietta and Darvish were just too much and it may come down to not wanting Cobb at the price he may get. I don't think this is too bad of a position to take. Chacin was added and could be a really good pitcher for the Brewers. Lots of people are bagging on Miley before he's ever thrown a pitch in a Brewers uniform. Suter continues to go out and surprise people. Guerra may just very well be 2016 Guerra after getting the appropriate rest and healing up. Heck, I won't even bring Woodruff or the possibility of Burnes to this rotation. Couple that with the possibility that Nelson does get back to our rotation and pitches well. Stearns trusts his process and so far, so will I. Cain and Yelich were at a price he felt it was necessary to add and now we will have a 1-5 (if no one is moved) that can compete with any pitching staff they see. Plus guys like Pina, Arcia, and Villar who have all the talent in the world to be legitimate bats in our lineup. I just don't buy too much into this thought process that we have so many holes. Will there be some? Probably. As every teams seems to get them due to regression, injuries or just bad luck. But the roster Stearns is putting together is very talented and can stick their nose in there with anyone.
  20. Provides depth for this season and to begin the next. Allows for flexibility if they do want to move a player. No reason to move him if the deal isn’t right.
  21. I agree but he at this point makes the logical drop to AAA. I would think teams look at their OF situation and Santana hitting multiple HRs every week down in AAA and step up and trade for him. He'd only lose value if he weren't on pace for 40HRs after 100 PAs and beyond. Maybe you can entice Colorado themselves by the fact he's cranking dingers in Springs. I’m so lost. Is this missing the blue sarcasm font?
  22. In my eyes, you aren’t. Other franchise know what he is. His value is about as high as it will ever be since I think his numbers last year are about his peak, he’s never going to be cheaper or have as much control. If he starts 135 games versus 150, it won’t diminish his value. GM’s are smarter than that. It’s just that there is a glut of slugging corner OFs that are limited defensively.
