  1. With the new details of the contract, I am sooooo happy the Brewers didn't do something like this.
  2. Just because Santana has played CF, doesn't make him even a consideration to play CF now... He played CF out of necessity a while back, but given his defense, I can't see him ever playing another inning there. Santana barely belongs in RF. He will eventually find his way to the AL.
  3. You may want to take a breath and realize there is a very good chance that what we have right now will be the mix come opening day. It won’t be the end of the world either. Sorry, getting frustrated here... Oh we know. We know... I completely get that you want to see an improvement in the rotation but it just might not happen right now. And then again, Cobb might sign in 20 minutes.
  4. There could be a disclaimer at the end of every post that says this is just a forum and everything is an opinion or a "take", and could be wrong. However, it must take some serious mental gymnastics to think that they value Braun very highly but would go out and make the moves they made. Not sure how you can reconcile the contradiction there. As for thinking they had a deal lined up for Santana, I think the fact that they've already said Braun won't play RF even when Santana sits kind of obliterates that theory. I mean I don't think they got Cain or Yelich to play RF often. And I don't think they would have taken this risk if they weren't damn sure they could trade an outfielder. Stearns strikes me as a little more shrewd than that. The thing that makes the most sense and is also the simplest explanation is that they don't think Braun is a star anymore. It also happens to be perfectly consistent with their treatment of most other aging personnel options this offseason, notwithstanding Cain. Yelich has played quite a bit of RF in ST lately. Just so you’re aware. I’m even more interested in how this shakes out now because some of these posts. Interesting takes. It shall be interesting.

  6. Just out of curiosity coolhandluke, what will you say if when opening day comes and he’s plugged into the three hole and starting in left or first? Sure putting yourself out there to be very, very wrong.
  7. I’ll take Cain in the top half of our lineup and finding arms elsewhere.
  8. Jered Eickhoff is now the Phillies #3 starter and is arguably a better pitcher than every member of the Brewers 2018 starting 5 outside of Chase Anderson. VERY concerned for the Brewers starting rotation at this point and I don't think we are the front runners for Cobb either. Had a rough year a season ago. I guess we will find out.
  9. Agreed. This might be one of the biggest things we overlook. We need flexibility around deadline time.
  10. Miley went 5IP today. 2ER, 2H, 3BB, 4SO, 1Dinger allowed.
  11. Arrieta - Nola... and no one else. Am I missing someone?
  12. Good research. Yeah I think this is a good #5 if we can get this. Hopefully Johnson can get more consistent results and not such volatile ones.
  13. Some people speaking as though they make the decisions on the lineup for the Brewers. Probably smart to let this one play itself out. If you don’t like Braun, he’s your 4th OF, should have been traded and the devil (somewhat kidding here). If you still see his value, he’s your 3-hitter and they’ll adjust position wise to make it happen. We’ll soon find out.
  14. Sounded like he had better offers but wanted to be a Twin. Maybe we were one of them.
  15. Far from over to make concrete assertions. Especially when we really have no idea what the trade was.
  16. I hear ya. I just think it’s way too early in the process to really know. It’s good to hear he’s playing well and he might just have some unrealistic expectations for himself. Even if he could start twice a week at 1B, that should open up enough at bats to all their players. I just believe he has very high standards for himself and doesn’t want to look stupid and that’s where a lot of this comes from. Seems like a guy that needs to hear he’s good every once in awhile.
  17. Sounds more of second guessing himself than anything else. Here is what Counsell had to say about his play per TomH: Position changes aren’t easy but he’ll be alright. Props to Braun for being open and willing to even go down this road. Not every player would. And this isn’t the first time.
  18. Thanks for proving my point. You’re welcome.
  19. Gotta love the people running to tell us they told everyone so. I guess it makes some feel good in their lives. Hold on now, you were on of the first and most aggressive toward those that made it clear that HH was full of it. Don't run and hide from that now. In fact, that group was a whole lot more aggressive than the group knocking HH. Sure, there was a lot of sarcasm, but no one really went after him with much vigor. The problem was that folks starting making a false narrative that he was actually predicting anything. When he started spouting off about not posting anymore because folks didn't believe him the, let's say believers, got all hacked off over nothing. I don't need an apology from the mods as I think it was handled well. I do think there are others that I can't say that about but those folks will never admit just how bought in they were to something some of us saw clearly. Run? Give me a break buddy. It isn’t about whether or not that he was full of it. Never had been for me. It was about how some wanted to respond to it. You wanna pat yourself on the back about being right? Go ahead. No one is stopping you. But this isn’t what this is about. But don’t let that stop you from doing what you usually do around here.
  20. Apparently just precautionary due to wet mound. I assumed that. But it was good enough for every other pitcher in the game after, including Albers who will probably be a late inning guy. Seemed more like Knebel just didn't want to pitch on it.
  21. 9th green at 9 trick. Works every time.
  22. Best thing for Arrieta to do would be to take a 2-year so he becomes a free agent the year after all those crazy contracts get signed.
  23. Crazy right? I think a lot of Brewers fans will question the front office if we don’t come away with Cobb or Arrieta since we now see what $12M and only one year of commitment got.
  24. Gotta love the people running to tell us they told everyone so. I guess it makes some feel good in their lives.
  25. Deleted mine. Good signing for Twins. Glad we can cross him off not being a Brewer.
