  1. Disagree. I think the Brewers saw a great opportunity to add a great ballplayer in Yelich and did it. If Ray becomes a stud, they will either play him with Yelich or a guy like Yelich will be moved for other resources. I don't think you make these moves having one thing depending on the other. The Yelich deal, for me, was a no-brainer, for what they gave up.
  2. There's no question Ford is a shooter and a good one. Which always shocks me that they seem to run very few plays to get him open looks. I know he is a freshman but he looks like he could be a good offensive player for the Badgers.
  3. Add Corbin and McHugh and go to battle. See what happens. 1. Anderson 2. Davies 3. Chacin 4. Corbin 5. McHugh Not world beaters but let's put up a ton of runs and have a shutdown pen. Then you have guys like Suter, Woodruff, Guerra, Gallardo to fill in for any injuries that may occur.
  4. And while he was healthy last season, he missed the entire season before that so health plays a factor as well. When it comes to a guy like Lynn, it really is the dollars. How many does it take? You can't overpay for a #3-#4 type pitcher. That is how we get into some of the messes we have in the past.
  5. You should probably look at those guys stat lines. They were pretty great a year ago. While you want to insult people that don't believe that Arrieta, Lynn, or Cobb are rotation changes, you really are knocking three guys that are really putting it together. Most fans would dream of having a 24-year-old in Davies put up the stat line he did but since he's basically a middle school student, we dismiss him.
  6. Badgers played their best game in a long while last night. I know that it was against Illinois but it was sure nice to see a formable offense out there. Good win for them to stay in the top 10 of the B10 and hopefully not have to play in the opening round of games.
  7. ' Some years I would agree, but if you're serious about competing for a title or even the division, you're not taking flyers on average guys unless you absolutely have to. Teams that are rebuilding can afford to do that - and it got us Chase Anderson which is great! And yes, it would be great to strike gold and find a cheap guy that produces like Chase did last year. But when you want to take the next step, you can't afford to grab off the scrapheap and hope for the best. Now is the time to get known quantities like Darvish when you have the resources. Right. But Darvish sounds more like a pipe dream and I don't want any part of Arrieta, Lynn or Cobb. They aren't rotation changing pitchers IMO. I would rather add a guy we feel could be a Chase this season and then, at the break, if we are in a position to add, go ahead and do it. I think part of the reason these pitchers haven't been signed yet is that they really aren't all that good and come with a ton of warts.
  8. I think I would rather Stearns go find the next Anderson/Nelson type of pitcher at this point. Go get McHugh or someone in that position and let our pitching coach work his magic.
  9. The hawing household has yet to sell tickets to anything for more than we paid for them. To me it feels like a small way to share wealth. Your mileage may and can vary. Hawing, that’s great that you’re able and willing to do that. But someone who talks down to others for using the market as their selling point is a bit much. Not saying that’s you but there’s plenty of it.
  10. You would think Thames would be a good fit in Houston. Brings a left handed bat to 1B and to their DH position.
  11. I think the Cubs fan thing is overblown a bit. I have been to numerous Packers-Bears and Brewers-Cubs games and while it is a little bit rowdier, it's never to the point where it has gotten out of control. Just my two cents but most times if you are nice and respectful to those around you at these events, it is reciprocated.
  12. I've attended more games at a cheaper value than games at a more expensive price because the market determines what it is. I don't feel bad when I pay half of what the ticket is worth when I get those deals just like the seller doesn't feel bad when they get twice the value of the ticket on other games.
  13. Great! Can't wait to buy my 8 tickets and sell them to some dumb Cubs fan for double the price.
  14. Go Kodi GO!!!! Yikes, this is a depressing list.
  15. True dat *sigh* But we keep missing on arms. That is the real bummer behind this. We have the 5th pick and instead of investing it in an arm that could be franchise changing, we went for a light-hitting outfielder. Outfielders are a dime a dozen but here we are, searching for the game changers in our rotation, again.
  16. Maybe we can trade for Lebron? Everyone else is leaving Cleveland.
  17. Not to derail but it really shows how big of a whiff Ray could turn out to be. Puk has incredible K #'s so far in his short pro career. Coming from the left side, what a miss that really could turn out to be.
  18. I think I would rather target McHugh over Odorizzi.
  19. I think Yu is being told to not sign so they can continue out this process of "collusion" against the players. My guess is the players union really has it on these guys that there needs to be some sort of boycott so that the owners don't get away with all these "deals" they have been getting. Pure speculation on my part but it wouldn't surprise me one bit.
  20. [sarcasm]Well why didn't he fix Garza then?[/sarcasm] Yes, I do agree with you here. It really is going to be interesting this year to see if some of these guys can repeat their performances and if he can get a few new guys to also produce better than expected.
  21. No one expected what Anderson gave us last season. Maybe he regresses or that is who he is. And maybe another pitcher takes a step like Jimmy and Chase did last season. Maybe Davies does? Maybe Burnes continues to light it up and comes up? Maybe a lot of different things happen. I know we all want to grab pitching, and we should, but if we don't, you can't just write off players. Every year is so different.
  22. I guess I don't see how Santana staying matters. If you think Walker is a fit at 2B, he would be whether Santana is here or not.
  23. If Walker is to be signed, I think Sogard should be the one to go. He won't be. Because Counsell probably plays through him most likely. But he should be. If we go into the season depending on Sogard at all, we will be deeply disappointed. At least with Villar, there is a chance for him to be a good player. Sogard, I don't buy it for a minute. Although one hot streak last season probably cemented him on this team until Counsell is fired.
  24. If trading Domingo for AJ Puk is even possible, I’m so on board.
  25. Cain, nor Braun are going to play everyday so it might worth having the four OF’s splitting time with Braun playing 1B and DH’ing when it is available. Does it cut down on some of their plate appearances? Sure. But they might just be more productive by being fresh and healthier. Phillips can begin in AAA. That’s really not a huge concern.
