  1. Can we just close this god awful thread?
  2. I think it's debatable since the guy could run the baseline. If he was stuck in one spot then much easier decision. What isn't debatable is the fact that even without defending the baseline, it was like they were playing defense with two people instead of five on that last play.
  3. I am not one that thinks these players should be receiving "fair" market value for their services to their school. But I am one that believes they should be given some expense money from the NCAA to offset the lost time they have due to having to be at their sport. I would love if they came up with a pay scale for these athletes to receive a bi-weekly allowance as if they were working a job like any other college student. If this was done, I think the issue of being paid might end. While it is a great argument that these kids should just thank the lucky stars that they are getting "free" college, it's just not that simple. The NCAA is making so much profit off of these institutions and these student-athletes are giving up a lot of their own time to make them their money.
  4. If you allow payment, is there regulation for it? Who can pay them? The colleges themselves? Rich donators? Businesses? If the richer universities are allowed to sink even more money into acquiring players, what happens to the smaller universities?
  5. Happ should seriously consider it. It would add a lot to his game to be able to make free throws.
  6. Two plays stand out to me from one player. Iverson's inability to dunk the ball or lay it in for a four point lead and then on the next play him getting beat to the hoop for Florida to tie it up. After watching it, it felt like he was shocked to see the guy going in for the layup. Talk about a moment he stores in the back of his brain for the remainder of his time and never lets it happen again.
  7. Yes. Yes they can. Maybe not Duke or North Carolina spoiler but we definitely have been as of late.
  8. What a senior class. I'm sure people will whine and complain because like Packers fans, Badgers fans have been spoiled. What a tremendously hard working group of players who never seem to give up. They come up huge in a lot of situations and tonight just wasn't theirs. Hats off to Florida for making just one more play.
  9. The Badgers are definitely not the more athletic team on the court tonight. We'll see what those seniors have left in the tank to finish this one.
  10. I think too much is made out of this. Same goes for the B10 championship game being on a Sun afternoon and then playing in the opening round on a Thursday. That is three days of rest which is more than plenty for these guys.
  11. They will only be split until one guy starts smacking the ball around the park and then the decision will be pretty easy for Counsell.
  12. For me it is nice that they won but had they lost, I would feel exactly the same as I do today. Just doesn't really have much significance to me other than it was nice to pass the time with being able to watch some good baseball in March.
  13. Haha, well of course then those two play. Was that ever debated? You dismissed Santana and I called you on it. The rest of this is you spinning your wheels. Why must you "call him on it?" Why can't you just discuss it? Why must you make this post? It was discussing. We discussed several possibilities. Move on.
  14. I kind of want this team to be the 8 seed and take on Lebron.
  15. Khris Davis was 27, not 23. Better comparison than the previous though. The funny part in all of this is I can see a day where Santana becomes expendable because we have players who may push him out. But to say this about a 23 year old power hitter that's shown patience at the plate and a very good arm in the corner OF as if it is a certain thing.. I doubt the Brewers are saying what you are. Oh and you're dismissing first base as if it is a position you can lack athleticism and be good at it.
  16. Oh man. That's comical stuff right there. If he does hit, why would he ever get bumped? If he comes in this season and smashes the ball around the park do you really think he's all of a sudden going to take a back seat to someone just because you think they are a better prospect? He's 23. He'll get his opportunity to stick out there. What he does with it is the next thing. Again, you're spinning your wheels here because you happen to like Broxton and Brinson better. That's fine, but your dismissing Santana and that's just not smart. Now THIS is some spin. Good grief. Exactly how so? He's stated that Santana must be moved to 1B. He's stated that he must be traded before 2018. He's stated that Santana can't be in out OF long term. All of this points to dismissing a 23 year old outfielder in Santana for guys that haven't themselves proven a thing. Santana might be the odd man out but his play on the field will determine that, not just liking other players more personally.

  19. Comparing a 30 year old free agent that would cost millions versus a guy who is 23 and isn't a free agent until 2022 is not exactly the route that should be taken here. I'm highly doubt he'd be right out the door if he has an .820 ops. He will if he doesn't learn 1B. Or would you rather trade Broxton or Brinson? Neither of those two are sure things, just like Santana. Nor is it certain Braun stays put or he himself moves to 1B. Or possibly Broxton gets traded. You think what you're saying is concrete and it is far from it. Lots of moving pieces and the Brewers will do their best to have the best three.

  21. Simply not true. If he hits, he'll be in our outfield. It's actually that simple. Disagree. Already stuck with Braun for 4 years. Broxton could be the real deal. So Brinson is not going to be the 4th OF. It's actually that simple. Not to mention Ray, Phillips, Clark and others that could be knocking on the door. All those guys are better defensively and have 6 yrs of team control. Santana isn't going to get in the way, just watch. Again, if he hits he'll play. All the guys you listed have no guarantee to be on this team just as much as Santana doesn't. They earn it by hitting. That always plays.
  22. Simply not true. If he hits, he'll be in our outfield. It's actually that simple. If his glove doesn't improve pretty dramatically, he's going to have to hit well above average to stay in RF. An .800 OPS isn't going to cut it in RF as the permanent guy if he's a defensive butcher. He'll be better than Matt Holliday so I'll say otherwise.
  23. We could make middle linebacker stronger by going after Zach Brown. Dude had 150 tackles last year and is only 27.
  24. Simply not true. If he hits, he'll be in our outfield. It's actually that simple.
  25. Every player is different. A guy like Braun isn't going to give too much thought into a bad or good spring training. A player in their first few years might be a different story depending on their mental makeup.
