  1. Koenig has to be hurt. Just has to be. He is a shell of the player he was even halfway through this season. Vitto Brown shouldn't see the floor unless necessary. Play some younger guy and and at least get them experience moving forward. Let him sing the National Anthem and then sit his behind on the bench. What a waste. Hayes at least has fight. He isn't that good but at least he's out there doing something positive.
  2. Well so far I see it out of Michigan State. And Hayes is a mental midget.
  3. Badgers heart and desire for this season should be on display today. Coming off a pretty pathetic performance, two to play and STILL a chance at winning the Big 10. Today will tell a lot moving forward.

  5. I'll take Mike Cameron in CF. Heck yes. I wasn't starting this thread thinking opening day and I sure as heck wasn't starting it because he smacked two bombs off a college kid yesterday. This guy just may be completely healthy and ready faster than possibly expected and right now, it's jammed out there. I do agree to some extent that Broxton needs to begin the year off well or he may be the odd man out. I guess same could be said for Santana but he's younger so longer leash.
  6. What happens if Lewis Brinson hits his way onto this team faster than some expect? We still have Braun and both Broxton and Santana both need ample amounts of playing time in their own rights.
  7. Who's the better hitter, Scooter or Nieuwenhuis? Scooter is. Why not find out if Gennett is serviceable in the OF? Nieuwenhuis' value is his ability to play CF but Perez is an option there too and the number one prospect is a CF. Nieuwenhuis is expendable if they have a better lefty OF bat to fill in. Maybe Gennett is that guy? Scooter might, might be a touch better with the bat but it's not by a heck of a lot. But Scooter loses any offensive value that he has when he's moved to the outfield or first base. Not only that but we already know he is average (probably being generous here) at best at second base and will be even worse at those other positions. We know Niewenhuis can at least play some defense and if given the same amount of at bats as Scooter their stats would be very comparable. . Scooter pulls at the strings of the fans hearts because he was the little engine that could. Problem is that we just have other players now that have pushed him out of a job which is a great thing to see.
  8. I hate the fact that we are even putting time into him in left field. Just move on already.
  9. Happ can't do it all. He's a great player but no one should be expected to carry a team when he is being double teamed. Now, could Happ improve on his jump/hook shot ability to beat some of that? Sure. But either way this all comes down to a lack of any quality around him right now. It should be raining 3's all across the court for Wisconsin. They should be murdering teams who try to double him. But the fact is, they are not a good shooting team. I don't want to hear that they are in a funk or that a guy like Pritzl is the best shooter in the country. These guys stink. Koenig is the exception in most cases but the rest of them flat out stink at shooting the basketball. I will give credit to OSU though. They knocked down a ridiculous amounts of three's that were just too hard to continue making a comeback against. Kudos.
  10. That has to be a hard call to make by passing up $20mil guaranteed. I can't imagine the pressure you feel if you get out of the gate slow come April.
  11. These comments are silly. If it came down to signing a guy for 1 year/$8mil contract and he came in and smacked the ball around for half of a season and stayed healthy, of course teams would want him. It's not a far-fetched way of trying to use all assets to build a team. I'm as big of a flip guy as there is but like others have pointed out many times, the "flip rate" is actually pretty small. Factor in him being a catcher, which tend to be more difficult to trade midseason, his declining offense, and bad defensive reputation, and I don't see a guy worth attempting to flip. Especially when he would block Susac or Bandy, two guys who should be getting MLB at bats at this point in their career. All of what you said I agree with there but it's not as though he couldn't be flipped. Never thought Aaron Hill would be. For peanuts sure but it happened.

  13. I think this team is a 2-win tourney team. Obviously it all is about matchups come tournament time. In the Big Ten tourney, if they see Purdue earlier than the ship, they'll get outed. They just do not matchup against that team.
  14. Got a chuckle but it felt set up. I don't think you have to be Greg Maddux to be able to flip curve balls to a pro at 45 feet.
  15. Oh good. We can send him down until he's 30 and past his prime then. Sounds like a Brewers move.
  16. Brewers Record: 75-89 Playoffs: No Brewers MVP: Braun Brewers CY Young: Davies Brewers ROY: Arcia First player traded: Scooter Surprise player: Susac Disappointing player: Villar World Series: Red Sox over Mets
  17. Badgers get beat at home. Doesn't happen all too often. Koenig is absolutely atrocious right now. If he doesn't regain his mojo, this season won't carry on too long. Gard/Happ had no answer for the double team other than taking Happ and putting him on the bench. That needs to be fixed in a hurry or other teams will just do what NW did tonight.
  18. This is pretty much how I feel. Enough talent to win it all but inconsistent enough on the offensive end to lose game one. Sounds like a Badgers team to me!
  19. I love the fact that they are winning games when not playing their best. I am hoping they are saving up their hot streak for the months of March and April. Koenig and Vito Brown were pretty bad last night. I've been waiting for Vito to take the next step in his game but haven't really seen a lot from him this season. It was nice to see Hayes knock down such a clutch three as he hasn't exactly been that guy lately in his career. This team has put themselves in position to win the Big Ten and I can't complain about that.
  20. And has a World Series win in the process.
  21. Better draft pick coming for the Bucks hopefully. They still need a lot of help.
  22. He kind've seems like Perez-lite.
  23. I don't care where they come from as long as they are good, smart players.
  24. Neither are shocks but we sure do need to replace Shields. His hole was glaring this season. Needs to be addressed in a hurry.
  25. If Braun were traded today, I'd say sign Carter and let Thames play in the OF. Since we still have Braun, there just isn't room for a 1B that can only play 1B.
