  1. Take Puig, McCarthy and Kendrick back. Ship Scooter and Braun and get better prospects. Flip Kendrick to someone for another project and hopefully McCarthy if he can show he's healthy.
  2. Counsell had definitely played the match ups well but this is a good thing with a young player. Santana was rushed to some extent and needed to regain confidence and Counsell has done a nice job since the injury of helping him along.
  3. Why not just add Brinson and let him play out there for the remainder? Might be kind've fun! Otherwise I bet this guy is available!
  4. How did this guy not make the list? http://www.jonbaas.com/film_mr3000c1.jpg
  5. My thinking was Scooter replaces Utley and they really don't lose much, if anything at all there. But what they gain is another $6-8 million in cap space. This might be helpful to them and interest them going down the road of trying to sign their younger players. I didn't mean to offend the Woodruff people by labeling him as a lottery ticket. Just that he would be a guy that has had a tremendous year in our system that the Dodgers might see of some real value there. I'm just not on board with this deal, at all, if it doesn't include one of their top prospect guys. If it doesn't I'd walk away from the table and enjoy having a high-caliber player in Braun and let the Dodgers play the crappy free agent market.
  6. I'd love to see the Brewers get creative with the Dodgers and obtain De Leon and Bellinger. This competitive window could open up sooner if we do. Dodgers Get: -Ryan Braun -Scooter Gennett -Lottery Ticket (Trey Supak/Brandon Woodruff ect...) Brewers Get: Yasiel Puig Brandon McCarthy Jose De Leon Cody Bellinger I would even consider two lottery picks if those two prospects were coming back to Milwaukee.
  7. I was trying to state that there is multiple ways teams see the Braun situation. Probably did a poor job explaining myself but that it's not as simple as no one wants Braun. Lots of teams do. But there are lots of teams not in the position to go get him whether it be because lack or resources or a lack of places to play him it just has to be the perfect fit for a guy with $80 on the books. The Dodgers seem to be that team (right now) but who knows come this off season depending on what Puig does for the remainder of the season for them.
  8. It'll be very intriguing seeing what they do next season. If you couple that with a healthy season from Santana and a full season of Arcia, maybe losing Braun won't sting as badly.
  9. Would the Dodgers have any interest in Scooter Gennett? Utely will be 38 this December and Scooter could give them very comparable offensive numbers at second base. Could this be an add in that helps bring back higher quality prospects?
  10. Brew4U said there was no chance to get him for just his contract and every team knew this. That means there is no risk for claiming him. So while what you are saying is true, for the argument he was replying to it doesn't apply. There's always a chance. Which is why team stay away from making claims in players with high salaries. That was my point with the poker statement. No ones going to risk it unless they have a spot for him on a competing team and have the money laying around for the next 5-6 years to pay him. They're not just going to block teams. It's not a guy making 500k.
  11. Not one person is saying Braun is cheap. But many are saying he is either at or below market for what he offers you as a player. $15-20 million is never cheap, but I think you get that. Teams are well aware, because it has been stated by our GM many times, that we are not going to just give up Braun for nothing. But that it will take substantial value to get him. They know the Brewers have no reason to drop Braun for nothing because it will do more harm than good for their franchise. Silly that this has to even be said. But on the flip side, GM's are not going to play poker with $80 million dollars at stake. Say the Marlins, Dbacks or whoever, do claim him and now they are on the hook for $80 mil and no real reason to have him on their teams. So again, while his contract is cheap for the player he is, it's not cheap to some franchises. Even a team like St. Louis would have to move some players around to make it work for them.
  12. Because teams are smarter than this. They know the Brewers aren't letting Braun walk out the door just for his contract. It really is that simple. Most teams don't want to give up something while paying the contract. That's fine. But all it takes is one (the Dodgers) to step forward. There is no doubt in my mind that Braun gets what his contract is now on the free market. Maybe more. Don't buy this argument for a second. If that was the case the D Backs or someone else would have claimed him to block teams like the Dodgers. Why would the Dbacks give two craps if the Dodgers get him in August? They have less wins than we do and can't block it after the season. Again, teams are smarter than this.
  13. If you look at his deeper stats it screams almost certainly a fluke. If I had to project him for next year and I had to round to the nearest run I'd go with a 4.00 ERA over a 3.00 ERA. Care to provide further detail? There are not many guys who are below 3.00ERA guys. I'm not sure anyone is suggesting he is but I don't feel as though he's a fluke in terms of being a quality starting in the major leagues.

  15. I'll take Chris Carter playing 1B over Khris Davis playing LF any day of the week and twice on Sunday. Same goes for having them bat in our lineup. And I'm not huge Chris Carter fan by any means. Davis was/is frustrating to watch on so many levels. Glad he's having "success" in Oakland and wish him the best but glad he's no where near our lineup anymore.
  16. It doesn't feel like a fluke anymore. Ace next season? I sure hope so. Fun story to follow!
  17. Just as long as we don't bat him leadoff, he is more than welcome to play right field for the Brewers. I would like to see him attempt first base though.
  18. I read this as the Giants don't have top quality ones to begin with. Only one player in the Top 100 prospects (Christian Arroyo). So if the Brewers are looking at getting top guys, they won't/can't get them from the Giants.
  19. So do we want Puig to do well for the remainder of the year of stink it up? If he stinks his value to them is even less and we get better prospects. But if he stinks he's probably not a great addition anyways.
  20. Can teams still have discussions on players now? Or do those have to stop until after the World Series?
  21. I think it's great that the Brewers are working closely with Braun on this possible trade. The more players that hear how great Milwaukee treats their players, the better. In the long run that will pay dividends somewhere.
  22. Felt like I read an obituary. Rough to read the possibility of losing another homegrown great because our franchise in incapable of building a consistent winner any other way. Frustrating to be a fan of major league baseball the way it is designed.
  23. Agreed. It just doesn't make sense to move him for Puig (a lesser player than Braun even will be in his 30's), an injury prone expensive pitcher and some lower level prospects. Like I said, screw that. Keep Braun if that's the deal.
  24. Davis would be worth what you say he is if he was any good in the field and/or got on base at a reasonable clip. Until he can do that, and at his age it's probably not changing, he isn't worth all that much. Nottingham is a nice return piece for him and if you want to gauge a player poorly, who is very young for the level he is at, then go ahead. But you are in the very small minority on a player like Davis.
  25. I think this is more realistic than a lot of people's hopes. I just don't see Top 100 type guys coming back. That's my opinion. I'd be thrilled with Buehler. Then I don't want to do the trade. If that's what we have to get in a return, screw it and keep Braun.
