  1. Damn. Must be pretty bad to walk away from almost $100 million. I hope Milwaukee invites him in to retire a Brewer if he will. Get the standing ovation he deserves from Brewer nation.
  2. Did you need to respond? No one ever "needs" to respond on a message board. I was curious what "need" you felt he satisfied with the full page ad, when he clearly doesn't have to satisfy any needs in Milwaukee, now that he's not a Brewer. I don't believe that either. He wants to be loved in MKE. This again was for himself.
  3. A career backup that we might be able to move during this month allowing us to get another piece moving forward. Broxton is playing plenty for the organization to get a look at him. Again if this was Flores that we're speaking about, fine. But Kirk has held his own enough to maybe help us out by getting us another piece. Maybe you don't care about that but I bet Stearns does.
  4. You can try to win while not particularly caring if you do win and in the meantime give players with a potential future with the team the majority of the playing time over veteran fillers, which likely leads to more losses but also helps you evaluate for the future. Sorry man. This isn't tee ball. Counsell doesn't get to being a manager of an MLB club with the thought process of not caring about winning. To be honest you could say they play Broxton perfect. They gave him the start of the season, he sucked. Now they bring him up after an adjustment and are putting him out there in a position to succeed. So far it's working. And yet, we gripe.
  5. What need? Did you need to respond? I had a comment towards Lucroy and his sincerity towards the fans. It's pretty clear now that he does things to fit his needs and that's what he cares about. That's okay, there's more of those guys in pro sports than the opposite. I'm sure he's a fine guy but he never needed to say the things he did in the offseason. Think it? Sure. Go ahead. But what good does it do anyone in saying it other than to put down the cast around you. I'm a guy that if you're on my team I want you to want to go to battle with the guys on the team. Not talk about wanting to be somewhere else so that your personal needs are met in trying to win a World Series (and probably more so just to get paid). Like I said I wish him all the best and he was a great player for us. I just won't be fooled into thinking that he's a 1%'er by an article in a newspaper.
  6. It couldn't be that he's trying his hardest to our players in positions to success right? You mention trying to win games, what manager doesnt? His job is based on winning.
  7. While you might be right, there are other ways to fill position needs. If Stearns doesn't feel Guzman is the guy to eventually fill that need and he thinks another pitcher might help this team in the long run then I really hope he follows his guy and continues to stack arms and middle of the field players.
  8. I think this is the organization giving Peralta a last shot at the rotation.
  9. Villar is a beast. What fun it's been this year having a competent lead off hitter.
  10. You're embarrassing yourself with that comment. Lol give me a break. Naw. He's made it clear he's just like 99% of the pro athletes. He wants his. It's okay. But I'm tired of pretending he was different. I wish he and Jeffress luck in Texas.
  11. Plus Braun got to move back to LF where he's just better. Not that he was a terrible RF but he's at least average in LF defensively.
  12. Villar should be our 2B moving forward. Scooter should be moved in the offseason. Arcia/Villar up the middle would be very strong. Not only this but Perez can hold down 3B until we are ready to upgrade that position as well.
  13. I think you'll find that to be quite impossible. Not if he plans to trade for him back again first.
  14. You have a point but also, Keon did himself no favors by starting the year the way he did. I mean he was flat out awful. People like to bash on Kirk here but he's been far from awful, especially when considering Flores has played a ton. I do agree though that Keon should get the lions share the remainder of the year in center. I know it's nice to have another lefty in the lineup with Kirk but it's time now to see Keon play.
  15. Maybe. But that is what blue is for and also had nothing to do with thundercat's soap box speech either.
  16. You can ask a girl out, take her to a nice dinner, and if she doesn't put out, then you can make a decision about whether asking her out or not was a good decision. That's a time when results orientated thinking is okay. When you put money into a stock, it was either a good or bad idea when you made the decision not after the fact. This is an excellent strategy the Brewers are deploying. Whether Brinson lives up to his potential or not is irrelevant. If they stay with this strategy, it won't be long before they do hit on a big-time, franchise-altering player. Trading away pieces of the future for guys like Jonathan Broxton & picking up retreads like Kyle Lohse was never the answer. This much is clear now. My comment has absolutely nothing to do with the strategy the Brewers are displaying. It was towards an overreaction towards Brinson's hot start in AAA. But let's not get ahead of ourselves either. I'm sure there will be times we give up prospects for players, especially as we get closer to competing. We already have up Sneed for Villar this past off season.
  17. Corey Hart was an awesome Brewer and if he's living in Arizona should become like Yount and be around a lot in spring training. If he wants to anyways. Talk about injuries derailing a career. Glad to hear he is enjoying his next step in life though. Can't get that time back with your kids.
  18. Yeah I feel for Segura on that one. Just trying to be a good guy and the play was over.
  19. Brinson and Erceg continuing his to just flat out hit.
  20. I left Arcia off the list. He's our shortstop and he's never coming back to being a prospect. That allowed me one other player to make my list too. 1. Orlando Arica- SS 2. Lewis Brinson- CF 3. Josh Hader- LHP 4. Luiz Ortiz- RHP 5. Corey Ray- OF 6. Phil Bickford- RHP 7. Isan Diaz- 2B/SS 8. Trent Clark- OF 9. Brett Phillips- OF 10. Gilbert Lara- IF 11. Cody Ponce- RHP 12. Marcos Diplan- RHP 13. Lucas Erceg- 3B 14. Devin Williams- RHP 15. Jacob Nottingham- C/1B 16. Kodi Medeiros- LHP 17. Monte Harrison- OF 18. Freddy Peralta- RHP 19. Miguel Diaz- RHP 20. Jorge Lopez- RHP 21. Brandon Woodruff- RHP 22. Brent Suter- LHP 23. Nathan Kirby- LHP 24. Mario Feliciano- C 25. Jacob Gatewood- IF Last 5 Out: 26. Corbin Burnes- RHP 27. Michael Reed- OF 28. Demi Orimoloye- OF 29. Chad McClanahan- 3B 30. Braden Webb- RHP
  21. Homers are great and we'll hit enough if he load our lineup with high on base guys with speed who have gap to gap powers. We get that 1-8 and that's truly when we will be dangerous because we will stay away from those long slumps during the season. The next wave of outfielders we have coming gives a good shot at doing this. Some people really need to move past the HR column on the stat sheet because there are other ways to be very productive.
  22. Miller Park is the 3rd most HR friendly park according the ESPN Park Factors: http://www.espn.com/mlb/stats/parkfactor/_/sort/HRFactor It's slightly above average for runs scored, but the HR thing is still quite high. I would think our terrible pitching might have something more to that as well.
  23. The main thing Brinson may due is be a complete stud and allow a guy like Phillips not to be rushed.
  24. Especially if we can trade Torres/Boyer.
