If you can't get lefties out today, you just suck. That's now Mauer and Walsh where I have seen pitches called 3-5 inches off the plate called strikes. Hit a spot and its over.

I don't understand having a shift on in that situation. Took away a possibility of a double play ball

I applaud Walsh for not going out of the zone on that last pitch. That is ball four and he should never swing at that pitch, ever. You can do nothing with a pitch 3 inches off the plate and possibly low. Sometimes umpires just suck.

Very cool! Hopefully if we are losing a lot of games this year, this approach isn't abandoned. This approach will pay dividends throughout an entire season.

Thanks for sharing that story Monty57. Those are always great things to hear about players on your team. Really cool!

WOOF! What you call WOOF I call all part of the plan. You'll be thanking me in June 2017 for showing you the awesomeness of the 2016 season. Naw. I'm on board with a rebuild but I also think there is a way to do it and still be competitive. There is some talent on this ball club that is not doing their part. We can acquire talent in many different ways, and we have, other than trying to get top draft picks.

I find it comical that Walsh is batting lead off today. A guy that can't (for some reason) get any playing time finally gets a start and he's leading off. Go get em Walsh. Please hit so we don't have to see Hill play anymore.

    WOOF!

Well that was one way to save on the bullpen. Should be all rested up for Peralta's start today.
  10. pacopete4
Keep letting Walsh rot. Good plan.

Players can still be good people and make mistakes. Braun was a complete fool a couple of years ago and I think he is still a very good person that just made a mistake and paid for it. They are no different than you or me just that the spotlight is on them 24/7. It is great to hear this stuff about Maverick because it's always great to have interesting people to follow as a part of your sports teams.

Centerfield and third base are black holes. It'll be interesting to see them addressed as we move along this season. Maybe they won't be but this teams lineup is not that bad if those two places can be helped.

Everyone must be out enjoying the beautiful weather but Carter just had a heck of an at bat that led to a walk.
  14. pacopete4
I know, rebuilding blah.. blah. But can we just not play Hill? He may provide us with the only quality defense on our infield but his at bats are painful to watch. That being said, 6-3!
  15. pacopete4
Bad defense. Too many walks. Daives needs to pitch better if he wants to stay up.
  16. pacopete4
Another first inning taken away by a horrible call by the umpire. Braun yesterday, Scooter today. Changes the inning in a big way.
  17. pacopete4
Great to see Phillips start out hot. Been very consistent.

If I recall, Liriano was the one with no options left and Broxton had one (just used). That's why most expected Liriano to make the roster over Broxton until his injury. Thanks, there's was so many it was hard to keep track.
  19. pacopete4
For some reason I didn't think Broxton had options?
  20. pacopete4
Another game where you just flat out cannot win no matter what pitching you get. Impossible to win scoring zero runs. Had a few chances but couldn't get the big hits. This lineup might be missing one more big bat. Luc is not a cleanup hitter.
  21. pacopete4
    Scooter with another walk.
  22. pacopete4
Cervelli rubs me the wrong way. Just something about him. Flood gates might be opening..
  23. pacopete4
Oh stop. No kidding it is but Maldonado has no issues. Luc has bad fundamentals when throwing and teams know it.
  24. pacopete4
    Track meet on Luc again.
  25. pacopete4
If they are going to let Scooter hit lefties I would like to see: 1. Santana- RF 2. Villar- SS 3. Braun- LF 4. Lucroy- C 5. Carter- 1B 6. Gennett- 2B 7. Whoever at 3b (Hill, Rivera, Walsh) 8. Pitcher or whoever at CF (Broxton, Nieuwenhuis, Flores) 9. Pitcher or whoever at CF (Broxton, Nieuwenhuis, Flores)
