  1. Is some of this due to where they are pitching? Or are they just not good?
  2. Small sample size but Braun is batting .125 off Hendricks, .385 off Lester, and .400 off Arrieta
  3. The part in bold is really interesting.
  4. Pitt would hopefully be the beneficiary of knocking the Cubs down a peg. I don't like how high the Cubs are flying. Fans are too excited for me. I like them better when they blow it.
  5. Briggs might be right, of course. The guy is brand new and could fall flat on his face in the pros but it is way too early to make that assumption. The guy has been a pitching coach for 10% of one regular season in the MLB. Not only this like the before mentioned, there has been injuries that have struck this staff and depth isn't really our strong suit. Same could be said about Counsell. He hasn't won a lot but so far, I think he's done a solid job with the team he has been presented.
  6. With 10% of our season completed here is a ranking of where our pitching staff is this season. Team: #29 ERA (5.65) #30 WHIP (1.64) #30 AVG (.304) Nelson's current ranking in those categories individually are: #43 ERA (3.46) #45 WHIP (1.23) #41 AVG (.229) #7 WINS (3) I thought last year was bad but wow, so far this has been pretty brutal. It is amazing we have won 8 games.
  7. Sure would be nice to be a thorn in the Cubs side this season. Win a bunch of games against them in a lost season (record wise) and the season seems to have more purpose.
  8. Oh well than that's good to hear. I just happened to look him up and he was below the Mendoza line. Hoping he's a stud. Solves a huge catcher hole in our organization.
  9. Nottingham has looked very good so far. Was that supposed to be in blue? Looking at his stats they are pretty bad.
  10. Sure. We can trade them Niewenhuis and Broxton.
  11. I will say with the addition of Carter it has been a very fun 1-2 punch circa the Fielder days. Hopefully Carter continues to slug doubles and dingers!
  12. If I'm dealing with Tampa I want Brent Honeywell & Taylor Guerrieri. If that means putting in more than just Lucroy, fine. But that gives you two shots at a stud pitcher and maybe you hit the jackpot and hit on both. Either way, go at em both. Both at ETA, 2017. Perfect timing.
  13. IF this team can figure out how to get some decent starting pitching, they will hang around .500 I believe. I'm still holding out hope the Jungmann is just going through some dead arm period and he will start ticking up into the 92-94mph category because he needs to. Braun is smoking the ball. Carter is smoking the ball. Lucroy is doing solid. Scooter and Villar are doing a nice job up the middle and offensively. Santana is about where we expected him to be offensively. Jeffress has been perfect in save situations which can lead to a possible trade later on. Nelson is our ace and has pitched like it. Thornburg looks like a very nice back end piece to the bullpen as well.
  14. Keep him. Let him play out his contract and be the "gritty vet" who is actually good with the new waive of talent in the upcoming years. I for one get sick and tired of seeing players go elsewhere. Those that want to tear Braun down for his actions are pathetic to me. There isn't one person on this earth that has lived a perfect life, treated everyone great, etc... but yet something like this happens and they should go to baseball hell forever. Hopefully he will be here and be a part of the next wave winning a world series.
  15. Good win today. Would've liked to win the home series but still a good win. On to those Cubbies.
  16. Not sure why he didn't slide to keep that one from rolling to the wall. Tough play with the ball spinning away towards the corner but he could've done more there.
  17. I'd rather watch one of our younger guys go out there. At least you get to see the future that way. If you're heading out to the park to see this version of Lincecum, you're not a very intelligent baseball fan. He is a shell of his former self.
  18. Pressley making his case for some more playing time.
  19. Going back to last August Braun has been hitting around .340 Impressive. He's just so fun to watch when he's right. Special hitter.
  20. Carter with another double. The guy just continues to keep on swatting em.
  21. Braun is just flat out dialed in. He looks like his MVP type years. I wonder if he'll try to start swiping bases or not. Haven't seen him run a lot so far.
  22. Wily gets an out past the 5th inning for the fist time this season but then gives up back to back doubles to go down 4-2 and won't record a quality start. Brewers fewest in the NL I believe. Baby steps I guess..
  23. With Manny Pina tearing up AAA ball and Maldonado not hitting (not many AB's yet) in the MLB, any chance we see a swap there at some point?
