  1. Find 8 guys that give them constant good at bats. Meaning the Segura, Gennetts of this team, say good bye.
  2. I don't hold him to a higher standard. This is a standard for any ball player in any ball park, anywhere. Play the game hard. It's that simple. He shouldn't of been choked out over it but he SHOULD be held to the standard of playing the game hard.
  3. I'd love to add Daniel Murphy if it means we are trading Scooter for some prospects. Let Murphy play at 2B and 3B next year with Perez, Herrera, Rivera and Sardinas filling in those positions as well. Scooters hack first and think later approach is exactly what we need to get away from. Another reason Segura should be on his way out as well. Get guys that can get on base more.
  4. I am all for moving Lind for another package of prospects or even just one really good one and a few fringe guys. Let Rogers have a crack at a full season in the bigs. We say we love Lind's approach at the plate well Rogers might be the right handed version of that. He's cheap and controllable during this lull of years to compete.
  5. Harper should have ran out the ball but he's not in the wrong here. If Papelbon had the issue about it, bring him aside in private and discuss this. Be a veteran that helps a young guy along. Not a veteran that no one wants around.
  6. Paying catchers bigger money past the age of 30 is insane. Paying a catcher who has head issues past the age of 30 is ludicrous. I would move him this offseason if the right package was there for the taking but I would be inclined to having him start next year on our team hoping he gets back to his regular form and them trade him for another set of prospects that will help this team in the next 2-3 years.
  7. Hopefully this back surgery is something that isn't a lingering thing and is really only a month or two recovery. I don't know why but anytime I hear back surgery, I just cringe.
  8. Avila should never catch again. The fact that Detroit has put him back there since his concussions is concerning. I'm sure Alex was all for it but it's not smart. The Rays moved Jaso to the outfield because of his concussions. This is something I did not know. Being an ex-catcher, that is a scary thought. You're right, not smart. Still should deal Lucroy though.
  9. Alex Avila would be my choice because it would mean we have flipped Lucroy for more pieces.
  10. Except for Schaefer. Why the hell is this guy playing over Peterson or Reed? I'd rather throw Rogers out there than him too. Couldn't agree more. Problem is we have another manager that values players like him way too high because he was somewhat like him.
  11. Yep. Treat them like spring training games. Bring up as many as you can and let them all play each game. Even the Arcia thing. If they are not worried about starting his clock, then bring him up and let him pinch hit in the games and take a seat on the bench the rest of the game. The more exposure guys get to the league, the better.
  12. I think scorebook keeping is going to be a lost art in the next generation. It is amazing how many of the kids I've coached in baseball, at the high school level, can't even keep a basic book. On top of that, now we have app's that do this for us and keep stats so kids never even learn how to do it.
  13. If we were in a pennant race, he'd be playing and we wouldn't of hear about this until after we were eliminated. While he might have to get a minor surgery (which, just do it now, the season's over), it sounds like a routine type of thing and he'll be back to his off season routine in a month. While it does raise an eyebrow because he is hurt with obscure injuries quite a bit, he had a really good season after many said he wouldn't. He is still an elite hitter in the game and is the focal point of our lineup. With the youth coming up and hopefully quicker than we expect, maybe he can be a part of the next run as well.
  14. Haven't watched a game in about 2 months...there's nothing inspiring about this squad outside maybe Domingo Santana. I've been basking in the underdog Twins playoff run, which likely ended today. Cheering for losers is for losers...hop off the wagon & get back on in the spring. Sorry, that was a very politically incorrect thing to say. Hopping on and off bandwagons is pretty much the definition of being a loser when it comes to being a fan.
  15. Because he will be on this team come next season.
  16. He just needs to throw it harder. Then they won't be able to hit it.
  17. Let Davis hit 30-35 HR next year and then see what his value is. Could Davis hit 30-35 HR's? Maybe. But that would be his best season scenario. While he has become more patient, his average over the past two seasons has declined. His OPS is sitting around .800 which is probably right around where his best case scenario is too. Not saying that is not a good number but coupled with his poor arm and average range, now might be the best time to move such a player and get more pieces towards the future.
  18. Maybe going to the pen could be a career extender for a guy like Lohse? Maybe he has no interest but it could possibly be a great thing for a guy that knows how to attack the strike zone.
  19. If Maldonado is just handed the backup role next year, then the Brewers are a dumb baseball team. He might only be a backup that gets the least amount of playing time but you cannot hit under .200 and keep your spot. Not without a fight anyways.
  20. This is called being a professional. He didn't storm up to the front office and make a scene. He did the chain of command approach because he is frustrated with the situation and probably himself as well. Had he stormed up there, all people would be talking about is how big of a jerk he is and would hate him. I commend him for being a bigger person and taking the appropriate steps in this matter. Sure he's sucked this year, but this is one area you can't knock him on.
  21. I just want him to pitch well. Just give us a full season of pitching well. I don't think that's a lot to ask for.
  22. Scary and exciting all in one sentence. In one way I wish they would move on from Davis, put Braun back in left and move Santana in right and wait for Phillips to take over CF with a stopgap. But on the other hand, three guys that could potentially hit 30+ home runs in our OF? You don't see that too often anymore.
  23. This would be great. I'd love that average to get up to around .290 and a 30/30 season. That would be a great thing for him to bounce into next year and beyond. Thumb or not, he can still smack the ball around. Plus, the closer he is to his MVP years, the more people realize how great this guy really is.
  24. Does anyone think they do think of these things when making the schedule?
  25. I hope they win 75-80 games and break the hearts of the top 5'ers out there. Win baby, WIN!!!
