  1. Yeah, well... Carlos Leal is over 50 PA's and still has a .900+ ops and has thrown out 8 of 9 base stealers. WOOOOOHOOOO!!!! But yes, the MLB draft & international free agent system sucks and should be changed by our new commish. That and (ugh..) add the DH to the NL to make both league play by the same rules. That is all.
  2. While I think your analogy is really dumb, and I mean no disrespect, it is dumb. There plan was to field the best team they could. The players still have to play and perform. This season falls squarely on those players not playing to their abilities. There is no reason to think that this team could not compete for a playoff spot if they play to their abilities. Will they? Doesn't seem that way. If you "predicted" this start for the Brewers it is because you are a negative nancy boy who will always see faults in the roster no matter how good it is. I'm not sure why any Brewer fan would be upset at signing guys hoping they would play to their "career norms" and actually be contenders. People forget quick how big of a joke this franchise really is and the recent success does not go back very far.
  3. Cool so Jon Heyman is basically a guy who writes on this board? Such shocking things that he reports!
  4. If Braun hits like he can, why in the world would we want to trade him? We'd have one of the best hitters in the game, on our team. Man... some of you guys floor me.
  5. I agree. If he didn't play such good defense he wouldn't be around.
  6. I hope this is a start of a lot of Brewers "fans" eating their words on whether or not Braun is going to hit. Nice job Braunie. Keep it up!
  7. Easy to play armchair GM but we'd never know how he would do in Milwaukee with having Narron here. Well, you can say that about a lot of situations, but his numbers in LAA speak for themselves. .739 OPS last season and .745 so far this year. He is 33 now, so I'm not sure how much difference a hitting coach would or will make. I think there are way too many factors to know how he would have been affected in MKE. Maybe it doesn't change a thing? But maybe it does, hence why you can never play armchair GM in these situations. Too many times a guy changes scenery and boom, he takes off. Hamilton could very easily be in this situation.
  8. What do you mean by this? A little lost. When I was there it was basically seniors and white trash. Nobody looked like the people in the commercial. TV also doesn't portray the horrible smell of smoke you get while being there either. When I looked at how much the hotel cost per night, I was astonished. Even the middle of the week in June was over $200. Crazy talk if you ask me.
  9. A 47 pitch, two run first inning by the Brewers OFFENSE is a pleasant surprise.
  10. I feel like I'm watching Thornburg pitch against us. Smaller, skinner guy, decent fastball but couldn't be straighter.
  11. From my untrained eye, and from Bill constantly saying "it's good to see the guys going to the opposite field," it appears that the entire team's approach this season is to take everything the other way. I like players hitting outside pitches the other way, but they still need to be able to pull pitches and drive them out of the park. Could the coaching staff have implemented a "go the other way" approach that accounts for the complete lack of power from this year's squad? If they did implement this strategy it sure would go against RR and his approach with guys like Gomez who he basically told, be you. I can see what you are saying though from watching the games this season. It seems like we do have that approach. It's not a bad approach to have IF you have the players to make it happen.
  12. Without looking, are there that many more big markets in the AL and smaller markets in the NL?
  13. I always love these statements from fans. How in the heck would you know how much he cares? The man could go home every night and be miserable for his performance lately and you wouldn't know it. Usually players who are as good as Braun was, do not get there in the first place by having a regular persons work ethic. This stuff just is so dang funny to me.
  14. Yeah it wouldn't help much this year for sure. I just feel that the game has changed to the point where pitchers hitting makes no sense. They don't get nearly the AB they used to, other pitchers throw more breaking pitches etc. Even a positional player really struggles to stay productive when they only get in the lineup once a week, it is an outdated concept. It is really obvious that the two leagues need to be the same now that interleague is such a big deal and it makes way more sense to both go DH than both go pitchers hit given today's game. I agree with you that the DH is probably needed in the NL due to how they are babied in the minors and in college these days with hitting. I hate that it takes strategy out of the game but I guess the other positive is that you can have a guy later in his career, prolong his career because of the DH. Keeps favorites around a little longer.
  15. If they are scuffling still, they should trade early. They will get a better return by doing so.
  16. I'd much rather see a trade than the firing of RR. That can wait if they want to go that route. Firing him does nothing but pleases the people who feel they know baseball better than a man that has played it and coached it for four decades at the highest level. Let the trading season.... begin!
  17. Not only that but on his "mental" day, he pinch hit against Chapman with two outs in the 9th, two men on and down by three. And to boot, people on this board and probably across the nation were waiting for the K and the "see, I told you he stinks now" comments. Glad to see Braunie smack one out of the park. Both him and Aram went deep. Sure would be nice to see those two pick up steam.
  18. Easy to play armchair GM but we'd never know how he would do in Milwaukee with having Narron here.
