    More position versatile. Play Davis at 1B and DH Hoskins. Davis could play 3B next year and Ortiz could play SS.

    If they want a bat, why not Tyler Black? He's a similar player to Yelich, long term, and can play some 1B, LF, DH and possibly 3B or CF in a blowout game.

    I like a Kikuchi deal for reasons stated above. Possible exchanges could be Blalock, Wichrowski, Patrick or even Frelick. Pretty much a one for one deal.

    After tonight I'd trade Peralta and Adames to the Dodgers for Bobby Miller and whatever prospects we can get and mix with some of ours to get experienced starting pitchers and hitters elsewhere. Criticize at will!!

    Brewers historically do struggle against underachieving pitchers. Hope their current lineup doesn't follow suit.

    In 2025 Collins possibly could fill the 2B vacancy if Turang fills SS with Adames probable departure in FA.

    Assuming Bauers is safe I'd option Frelick and let him play some 3B and maybe 2B to strengthen his versatility. Perkins is what he is but offers switch hitting in the OF. They need to go with Black for more power than our pal Sal.

    As stated before in these forums Dunn has hardly played at AAA. He needs at bats for continued development to see if he can seriously contend at 3B in 2025. Let's see if Bauers withstands Mitchell's availability at AAA.

    I'm not interested in adding relievers via trade and pretty reluctant on other trades. I've felt since the beginning of the season that they should focus on sorting out the young players at the top of their system. They need more answers on those players.

    Red Sox. Don't like the city or the accent or its politics and the favoritism of MLB TV scheduling and I really hate the Celtics since the 60's.

    I agree with Clancyphile. Black has some CF experience in MILB. With his speed and presumed average arm he should be able to play LF, CF and even RF in an emergency. Too many 1B types now and in the near future for him to be relegated to 1B or DH.

    No trade for Quero now. Young for such a developed catcher. No comparable catching prospect behind him.

    Counsell is just another Brewers manager to not reach the world series. I assume his attendance jab referred to spring training games where the cubbos have always drawn well. (More people in Arizona have escaped the hell hole of Illinois.) /s/ Milwaukee baseball fan and Cubs hater since 1957.

    Hub Arkush is a Chicago guy and a big Bears homer at heart. He's been on Packer pregame probably because he's Wayne Larrivee's buddy since Wayne's days as Bears radio announcer. He owned Pro Football Weekly and is a respectable NFL commentator. Every so often his love of the Bears overwhelms him.

    Checked Red Sox boards late last night and overwhelmingly disliked the trade. Comments on Renfroe defense mixed, like on this board. Trade still looks good to me.

    Totally unexpected. Advantage Brewers next two years. They have other young infield prospects. Binelas and Hamilton are good prospects who will likely end up as 1B and 2B. I like the move for not giving up pitching.

    Not hot on Kepler. Would not trade Houser for him. If I wanted him I'd offer Corey Ray.

    Follow the money. The Brewers do not spend the money on scouting like some teams do. They do not pay top dollar for Caribbean amateur players, or spend big money on Cuban or Asian pros. They've done best recently drafting and developing upper minors pitching depth. Their best position prospects are mostly in the lower minors, but I am more optimistic there than I've been following the franchise since its inception. I am disappointed, however, with their persistent failure to draft for the infield corners despite long-standing need there. Up the middle prospects like they've focused on don't generally develop into power hitting 1b or 3b players.

    I'd factor Grisham as a left fielder exclusively, not a CF on a contending team without good overall defense. Ray could be a decent CF but he's had a wasted 2019 and can't be counted on offensively going into 2020.

    Given looming free agency for Grandal and Moustakis I would hope to trade Cain for a C, 3b, or SS better than who we have under contract or a good pitcher. Given Cain's salary that will be hard to do unless the returning player carries at least a substantial offsetting salary and is surplus at his position on the trading team. More likely Cain would have to be traded for salary relief and hopefully a prospect, in which case the immediate team value would be to use whatever salary relief to re-sign Grandal or Moustakis. But in the end the lack of a quality defensive CF on their roster or a high level CF prospect these factors would deter me from trading Cain for 2020.

    They need to let the season play out before looking to 2020. Most of their pitchers have up and down performance histories or have yet to establish themselves as reliable major leaguers. A number are returning from injury sooner or later. They need to first evaluate who they have under control, then arbitration guys and, lastly those who will be free agents. Save for Woodruff and Hader they have a lot of arms but more questions than answers.
