  1. I like this. No risk with decent upside.
  2. I would offer 3/60 if I was Stearns.
  3. I used to be a baseball purist and hated the DH. Now I'm a pragmatist and realize I don't want to see a pitcher hitting any more than I want to see a left fielder pitching. It's stupid and pointless. As for those saying having a pitcher hit leads to more "strategy," c'mon man! A trained monkey can pull off a double switch. There's not much strategy there to be had. For every 5th inning, "do I pinch hit for the pitcher?" scenario you have a 7th inning two runners on, two outs, and the pitcher due up next scenario. The manager is pulling the pitcher regardless of how well he's pitching. In that case you are being robbed of strategy and wise judgment. However, they should only bring the DH into the NL with a 2-3 year lead time so GM's in the NL can best set up their teams for the rule change.
  4. I'd say agent39 is pretty unbiased.
  5. There is no collusion in 2019. The players are just chapped that owners are wising up to handing out 5+ year contracts that will end in disaster.
  6. https://www.mlb.com/news/mlbs-top-100-prospects-for-2019/c-303077544 Keston Hiura ranked #20. The only Brewer. I find it interesting that the Marlins don't have one player ranked in the Top 100 from their trades of Yelich, Stanton, and Ozuna.
  7. And the only Brewer in the Top 100. I found it interesting that the Marlins don't have one player ranked in the Top 100 from their trades of Yelich, Stanton, and Ozuna.
  8. It is clear that the Brewers having been working over the FA 2B market very hard this offseason. If Keston is the plan it's Plan Z. If they were working the 2B position hard, they would have signed one. I think they are fine with Perez and Spangenberg sharing the position to start the year. If those two aren't producing and Hiura gets off to a hot start in SA, there will be pressure to bring him up. But Perez and Spangenberg are solid major league players who combined should hit 20 HR and hit .260. Clearly a platoon of Flotsom and Jetsom until a June call up of Keston Hiura was not plan A. At the winter meetings Stearns and Counsell stated that shoring up 2B was a priority. The conspiracy theorists can claim this was a disinformation campaign but I'm not having it.
  9. Did Schlitz get into the bidding? It's the beer that made Milwaukee famous!
  10. I don't like the change because Miller Park fit perfectly but I'll still call it Miller Park. I never called the Bradley Center the BMO Harris Bradley Center. I still call the MECCA the MECCA (I literally don't know what the new name is, or what the several iterations have been). The tall office building in Chicago is the Sears Tower. The White Sox play at New Comiskey. No big deal. *Full disclosure: I like Miller High Life and detest craft beer. I think craft beer is overrated, overpriced crap.
  11. I'm betting Hiura isn't on the 25 man as of the All-Star break.
  12. It is clear that the Brewers having been working over the FA 2B market very hard this offseason. If Keston is the plan it's Plan Z.
  13. How bad would a defensive 2B have to be for the Brewers to have no interest? They used a 3B at 2B in 2018 who had never before played one inning of the position in a professional league.
  14. I don't think that's true and I think many on this site wouldn't agree with that either.
  15. No way was Schoop worth a $10 million roll of the dice.
  16. That's insane. The Yankees bullpen is ridiculous. They should just go ahead and buy Kimbrel too.
  17. I would not give up talent just to move Thames' contract. That's crazy. He has value to this team so you might as well ride out 2019 with him.
  18. I'm not sure why New York teams keep signing 2B's they don't need.
  19. Not interested.
  20. I'd be fine with Castro if the Marlins eat some of his salary. I'd also be fine with Cabrera. I think you can pretty much rely on Castro and Cabrera to give you an OPS+ of 105 or better and hopefully their defense can be hidden with shifts. I want nothing to do with Harrison or Panik. Total crapshoot as to what you'll get from them.
  21. Not cool. Riding high with the signing of Grandal and then punched in the face with Dozier and Lowrie immediately signing elsewhere.
  22. This is awesome! Now if they can get Dozier for 2B. I think the Grandal signing takes them out of the running for Lowrie.
  23. It should be noted that Jon Heyman didn't write the part about the league being "more fixated on profits than winning." That was added by a writer at Rotoworld. I disagree 100% with that writer. I think the executives of MLB have finally realized that nearly every 7+ year contract is a time bomb waiting to go off.
  24. Seems like a perfectly reasonable position.
