  1. He has an OPS+ of 69 as a Brewer and Villar is at 117 for the Orioles. How is Schoop an upgrade? I really hate what Stearns did at the deadline.
  2. Schoop is trending in the right direction after a rough start. The trend can be a friend. I'll take an .865 OPS at short any day of the week. Re-sign Moose, Schoop at short, Shaw at second, Jesus at first. Trade Arcia. You could move Moose to short, Shaw to second, Aguilar to first and Braun to third and Thames to Lf Stearns will recommend Moose at SS, Shaw at 2B, Schoop at 1B, and Aguilar at 3B. It really doesn't matter because the Brewers shift so much they won't play those positions anyway.
  3. It's better than him sucking at the MLB level.
  4. I wouldn't offer even a Pabst for Harvey as I hold that beer in pretty high regard. Maybe a Natty Light though.
  5. I don't know the dollars involved but I know the commissioner's office has the authority to reject a trade if it appears to be one team buying players from another. This happened in 1976 when the Oakland A's owner Charlie Finley tried to sell Rollie Fingers, Joe Rudi, and Vida Blue to other teams for cash. The deals were voided. That said, the commissioner's office has been pretty lax with regard to using this power. If any "prospect" is involved they normally will not blink an eye. Or if the cash considerations are quite modest they will not block.
  6. Who knows if they even have insurance on Yu's contract, insurance is not a standard thing on every MLB contract and even when it exists it doesn't cover 100% of the contract. Wouldn't it make sense to take insurance on a contract worth $120 million??? I mean that is a large amount of money, I think. What insurance company is underwriting a policy for a $120 million for a pitcher in his 30's who has already had Tommy John surgery? The premium would be astronomical if they did.
  7. Good grief. Just leave him down until September 1st.
  8. Complains about people not using facts to support opinions. Then doesn't use facts to support opinion. Irony.
  9. B-ref has him at 2.5 WAR right now. He might not be the second coming of A-Roid but he's a decent player.
  10. Jim Hendry was the gift that kept on giving. So sad that Theo took over...
  11. They don't play the same position. Moose replaced Shaw, who is perfectly fine at 3B. And now Shaw has no position since two inferior players are stealing his at bats.
  12. Shaw's stats since the trade: .279/.333/.558 So the Brewers could have skipped the Moose trade, kept Shaw at 3B--and instead trade for a 2B who's actually better than Jonathan Villar. Who would that be? Dozier? Yes. The Brewers gave up a hell of lot more talent for Moose and Schoop than the Dodgers did to get Dozier.
  13. Shaw's stats since the trade: .279/.333/.558 So the Brewers could have skipped the Moose trade, kept Shaw at 3B--and instead trade for a 2B who's actually better than Jonathan Villar.
  14. 2 of 3? Schoop has been horrible, Moose is not better than Shaw (the man he replaced at 3B), and Soria gave the Brewers 5 IP before landing on the DL. This trade deadline is looking like a disaster.
  15. This move stunk the moment it was made. It's gotten worse since then. Same with the Moose trade.
  16. Non-tendered Jared Hughes to sign Albers. Brutal. Hughes has a 1.41 ERA and 1.081 WHIP in 50 innings.
  17. If he wanted someone at the deadline he should have gotten Jose Iglesias to play SS. He'd have a gold glove quality shortstop who hits well enough to justify a spot in the batting order. Instead we have Arcia putting up a 31 OPS+ at SS. This is complete crap. I am far from a Stearns hater but his moves at the deadline constitute malpractice. His trade for Moose was mind-boggling stupid.
  18. This trade stunk. The Moose trade stunk. I have no idea what Stearns is thinking. I love the guy but these two moves make little sense.
  19. You've made your point. Repeatedly. And you really aren't really adding anything by repeating the same thing (I hate this move) over and over. Thanks for remember the comments I made 10 pages ago. P.S. - This move stinks. Blah, blah, blah. WAR. UZR. wOBA. The Moose is Loose. Don't play people in MLB at positions they've never played before.
  20. You guys have consumed a lot of kool-aid to think this is a positive move. I've loved Stearns but this move stinks out loud.
  21. I've calmed down now. There's no way Stearns intends for Shaw to play more than a game or two at 2B. This is a ruse to keep Shaw's trade value from plummeting while Stearns completes whatever deal he has cooking that involves Shaw.
  22. Sandberg played his first 3 seasons in the minors at SS. Much easier transition from SS to 2B.
  23. I picture the conversation with Shaw as something along these lines... So true. At least Hatteberg had the benefit of an off-season of practice and then spring training.
