  1. So the Brewers shouldn't have hired Counsell? I would not have hired him.
  2. I missed the game last night. Now watching the replay on FSW. It is a FS1 crew announcing. Who is this? Sounds like Don Orsillo, but I'm not certain. Who is the color guy? I know it's not Mark Grant. Edit - Don Orsillo and Eric Karros.
  3. Who has more prominently declared his innocence (falsely) while blaming others than Braun? Lance Armstrong? I can't think of anyone other than Armstrong who was more of an ass gloating about his innocence only to be absolutely proven to be liar and a cheater. They are both losers.
  4. This is what you get when you hire a guy who has one year of managing experience and it's 11 years ago in Class A ball.
  5. Did he die?
  6. If I was a Cubs fan I would think that's a good thing. I think the team that overpays for Harper is going to regret it big time.
  7. I'm sure I'm in the minority but I think Uecker should retire for good. I don't think he's that good anymore. And it's not that I'm an ageist. I loved Vin Scully even when he was 89 doing his final season of baseball.
  8. I don't blame them for trying. Wang obviously has a lot of talent. While the chances of it not working are obviously greater than having success, that's exactly the type of outside the box-type move that small market teams need to hit one every one in awhile to stay competitive with the big boys. Thing is, it was working out. He had a good season in AAA last year, so at his age still on track to be a good MLB pitcher. We will probably never find that out now, but going over to Korea can't be controlled- unless you just stay away from international players altogether. Wang had been released by the Brewers after his Rule 5 stint. Anyone in the league could have picked him up.
  9. Could Mark Brouhard be next?
  10. Agreed on both points. Drafting 19th with the associated pool money does not help bring in those 60 grade players. I'm getting really damn sick and tired of reading about people hoping to tank in 2018. Stop thinking like this team lost 100 games last season.
  11. I never want Garza on this team again. I would have suspended him when he refused to pitch out the bullpen at the end of 2015. Instead the Brewers just sent him home and continued paying his $12 million a year salary. He's a piece of garbage.
  12. That's a bit over the top. Speaking for myself, I said that I think the non-signing of Swarzak is "troubling" and that I think Stearns has misjudged the reliever market. Let's not make it more than it is.
  13. That's a strawman argument. No one here is saying Stearns should sign 8 relievers at $8mil per.
  14. Personally, I think Stearns has misjudged the market. And he will be left digging through the bargain bin to fill out the bullpen. For the record, I like Stearns a lot--but I think the reliever marker is not the place to be a hard ass with money given the relatively short contracts for even pretty good RP's. It will be interesting to see what Jared Hughes gets on the open market. Stearns non-tendered him not wanting to pay the projected $3m in arbitration. In hindsight that might have turned out to be a great deal for the Brewers.
  15. He signed a 2/14 contract. People here are making it sound like he signed for 5/55 or something like that. The contract is reasonable in both years and dollars. Stop acting like this contract was going to hamstring the Brewers. I'm all for being smart with money and having payroll flexibility but people here are taking it to a ridiculous level. Maybe Ted Thompson is posting here.
  16. No one said that. You're leaving out key facts that make this non-signing "troubling."
  17. I get that the Brewers don't want to saddle themselves with long-term, high-dollar contracts, but c'mon, they have the lowest payroll in baseball. Refusing to pay market value for a good reliever who liked Milwaukee--on just a 2 year deal--is troubling.
  18. I realize I'm probably in the minority, but I've never attended a game due to a scheduled promotion. It strikes me as odd that other people do.
  19. If he's healthy the Cubs got an effective starter. If he's not healthy the Cubs will shrug their shoulders and write off the $38m. It has to be nice to have craploads of cash for payroll.
  20. I'd tell Braun he can waive his no trade or sit on the bench. I'd like to see the youngsters in the OF for 2018. We have plenty of them who need playing time.
  21. I don't want a "human element" that is wrong 1 out of 10 times. I want consistency and accuracy. I am seriously sick of umpires right now. They need to shut the hell up.
  22. Brian Anderson is really good, but I like Matt Lepay too. I've had the directv extra innings package or mlb.tv for years so I've seen/heard nearly everyone out there. Most Brewer fans don't know how good we have it. Those who complain should be condemned to listen to Michael Kay and/or John Sterling for 3 hours straight.* Edit - *and throw in Suzyn Waldman too.
  23. I'm very glad this possible trade never happened.
  24. For your sake, I hope your employer doesn't drug test. Well incase you missed it, the talks between the Yankees and A's for Gray SEEM to be centering on a Yankees prospect that is ranked #71 over all and another that's not even in the top 100. So if that's all it's going to take, that's not even close to emptying the farm. That's like equal Ray and Dubon or Ortiz. I'd do that in a heartbeat. The A's will get a king's ransom for Sonny Gray.
  25. For your sake, I hope your employer doesn't drug test.
