Suppan looked pretty good today, I thought. He had the change up working and it seemed that the breaking ball was really moving well, too. Good to see. Classic defense by Soriano on the Hardy triple and Zambrano (?) on the throw into right field.

needless to say, the pitchleague clan (pitchleague & hammytime) will NOT be making it this year (as per the usual). I sincerely hope that this does NOT deter others from joining in as I've heard that it is a WILD shindig and worthy of mention on any fans "bucket list." As soon as we can make it, however, you better cash in those stock certificates and such since the world will, thus, be ending. P.S. Darn, I wish we could be there!

Also note that the demo is something like 1.4 GB (that's pretty large) and has fairly stiff PC specs requirements.

In their defense, VC took over producing the game way late in the game--something like August or September--and, thus, didn't have the time to do all the work on the game that they wanted. Not to mention that they pretty much overhauled a whole lot of stuff. My guess is that this will be what MVP 2003 and 2004 was to MVP 2005--a precursor to a great game; they just have to get rid of all these bugs and issues. But otherwise, the game is pretty darn good. Sure, The Show is better right now, but maybe if you give VC the time to tweak their game, it will give Sony a run for their money. I don't have a console but I did download the PC demo of 2k9 and played a demo game. It was fun, ran great, and I will probably buy it for the $20 price tag. It is definitely not worth the $60 on Xbox360 or PS3 but at $20 I can't go wrong since the PC hasn't had a baseball game since MVP 2005 (I'm not counting the college game EA Sports threw out a few years back.) I sincerely think that these guys are on the right steps and 2k10 or 2k11 will be very polished. I'm very amazed at what they got done in the little development time that they had.

that is pretty good. I kind of figured Uecker uses the cough button a lot, since he has SO many pauses in his broadcasts, but we all know that the guy likes to talk.

I read the article. That's pretty amazing that nobody knew about this until last Friday but at the same time, it's not that surprising since the sky is so darn big! I don't believe they stated in the article but I wonder if anybody did any "projections" of where it might have hit if it had came close enough to be sucked in all the way by Earth's gravitational field.

I apologize that I did not see your post yesterday. As a 20-pack customer, I believe we have always received them in the middle of March; usually between March 15th and March 25th, although that would be the latest we've ever received them.

I couldn't believe it was him when I heard it on the morning drive to work on Wednesday. I had to take the alternate vehicle (the one that sits in the garage most of the year and needs to be jump-started due to lack of use) and the radio doesn't work to well. I scanned and that was the first thing that came on so I left it on. I knew it was him but his voice has changed recently as it didn't quite sound like him, if you know what I mean. I'm kind of afraid to click on any links you guys provided for fear of a picture of the guy. I've never seen him so I don't know what he looks like. But I have my own image in my mind and I kind of don't want to ruin it. And now HE knows . . . the REST of the story. RIP

I, too, was finally able to listen to a game today, and thus able to get some better impressions. I thought he did fine. He did have the good vibes going I thought and his calls were clear and concise. However, he seemed to leave Uecker hanging a bit on his comments/jokes by not reacting much (at least it seemed so). Jim Powell used to interject a lot with what Bob had to say. But, perhaps, Jim was the same way when he first started (I don't really remember) and he grew into how I remember him. Also, Corey seemed to be too loud. I don't think he was actually loud but it might have been the sound mix or wearing his headset with the mic too close to his mouth. Or it could have been just lousy spring training connections. Whatever the case, it wasn't the soothing voice of Jim Powell but more a booming Jim Powell. I hope that gets fixed. I did like his homer call on the Brent Brewer bomb, though.

you know, you gotta wonder if Uecker is a bit upset that Jim left, even if he did probably give him his best wishes. Somebody mentioned yesterday that he paused to think of the name "Cory" instead of saying "Jim" as he had for 14 years. Granted, I heard neither game (won't until Saturday) but at his age, ol' Ueck might not be thrilled with having to break in another partner.

And that is why so many people gave up on the show way too early or still watch but can't get into it because they are constantly calling it "garbage" and other anti-fanboy type things. Sure, some of the middle season (3-4) episodes were pretty slow but so are some middle chapters in some fantastic novels. They all pay off in the end but you have to stick it out.

the students pretty much told me on their own. I shrugged it off and continued to teach. But it will be addressed to my principal tomorrow (couldn't talk after school due to a meeting off campus.) But, otherwise, you're right. The other students have no need to know either side of the story and I'm trying to keep it that way. But kids talk to each other and I can't stop that.

as I posted earlier, the child that I am having my meeting about on Friday is, apparently, a student in this category of "not wanting to be here." Again, most students love coming to my class because I make it fun and interesting. You never know what I might do at any time and that is part of the fun and excitement about coming to my class. One day, we may do a really cool magic trick. Other days, there may be prizes for a singing contest. This particular student, however, has a bone to pick with every teacher in the school, I have found out. He has the attitude that everyone is out to get him. He was diagnosed with MRSA (staph infection) last year and he hates the world for it. And since the school had to make special provisions for him, he hates us all. I found out today from students that he is currently trying to get me fired. This is a third grader, folks, with this kind of attitude. He's trying to spread it around school, although unsuccessfully so far, since nobody--and I mean nobody--will take his side. Even his friends, who were trying to stick by him and support him told me today in class that he's "weird because he's trying to get you fired" and "we don't agree with him and would like to participate again." I'm pretty much at a loss at this time. I've had students before that act up in music class. I've had parent meetings before to rectify the situation. I've drawn up behavior contracts for a student and for myself (I include one for myself to ease the student into thinking that I am trying real hard to "correct" my behavior, although I'm not really changing anything since I wasn't doing anything wrong to begin with.) I'm really not sure what we're going to do, short of him doing classwork outside of my room and basically becoming an "independent" study class. I guess I'll know better on Friday.

I'm fine with the guy coming back, but I wasn't the mod that held him to his promise. I don't even think we are preventing him from posting/visiting but I'd have to check. and. . . MARK! Less than an hour to get the Seinfeld reference out there. Bravo! I'm not a car person whatsoever but is it possible that they used the wrong kind of coolant when they flushed it and filled it? I know that there are various types of coolant and that the wrong one could wreck havoc with your engine. Just an idea, albeit a pretty lame one (probably.)

Leave it to Chloe to have everything wired to a server off the premises, though. She a smart gal, she is! I loved how she ragged on the head FBI dude for totally botching the network setup a few weeks ago. I, too, thought for sure Dubaku would at least be struggling to get away. They also used the data key inside the body trick in season two. Plus, this was 5:00-6:00 pm. Where was the rush hour traffic? Sure there was "some" traffic but not like end-of-workday traffic should be. It actually doesn't bug me, since I view it as entertainment and try to forget the whole "real time" stuff. Heck, Keifer Sutherland's voice-over of "All events occur in real-time" lasted all of two episodes, I believe. It's been that way every season. Interesting take on Bill taking the President back to the White House because he may be "in on it" or might be "double-crossed" or whatever. Hadn't thought of that. Since the Senator's aide got the text at the end that "operatives were in place" I really wonder what's going to happen. Please note that I don't watch the upcoming week previews at the end of the show because I'd like to be surprised, but this is pretty intriguing. I still don't want to know ahead of time, though, but I don't want to groan, "ohhhh," because it's so lame, either. Overall, I would give the first opus of the seventh season of 24 a solid B+. Opus two will be a bit longer than the first, like any good symphony anyways.

I realize that Mark A. has pretty much came out and said that the Brewers wouldn't add payroll before Opening Day, but with the Nationals releasing Odalis Perez should the Brewers at least inquire on his services? He's been a fairly solid, but not spectacular, hurler in his career and has some experience. Plus, he's left-handed--always a bonus. I don't think he would be a detriment to the team. The question would lie in where you put him--rotation vs. long man in the pen. I'm actually surprised that I haven't read about other teams' interest in him in the past couple of days.

You're only half right there. I believe a certain team from Philadelphia are the reigning World Champs. edit: I almost forgot to post what I was originally going to post. I'm really liking the 30 teams in 30 days show. A full show devoted to each team and that team only is great. I know ESPN has done something like that in the past, but it was only a 5-minute bit during Sportscenter, so this is much better. Plus, they have all-time team highlights and they try to make an all-time franchise starting lineup and bench.
