  1. Nice to see Prince smoking one with 2 out to tie the game. Hope he has a bit of "clutchiness" during the regular season.
  2. this thread is really cool but shouldn't these just be prospects that spent their entire minor league career in the Brewers system? For instance, Laynce Nix wasn't our property until the Carlos Lee trade so he really didn't "come up" through our farm system. Neither did Wes Obermueller (Royals, I think), Brad Komminsk (Braves, I think) and Jose Capellan (Braves).
  3. I don't understand this one. Isn't the answer all teams except for the Brewers, Cubs, Dodgers, Phillies, Red Sox, Rays, Angels, and White Sox, since they all made the post-season last year? Or did you mean longer playoff drought than what the Brewers had (26 years) before they made it last year?
  4. I finally got my bracket in. Not many players this year. What's up with that? Or is everyone waiting until Thursday morning to fill their bracket? Good luck!
  5. Our school district is considering this proposal right now for the following school year. I would probably do it to save other jobs for other people. My wife and I are both pretty safe for next year (I'd say 99% safe) so we'd probably do it. It sure would be nice for utility companies and the like to notice the slumping economy and the unemployment/lack of safety in employment and freeze their rates for a while to go with the 5% cut, but that's not going to happen.
  6. I finally got a chance to watch it tonight. My wife loved Hardy's interview ("Well, losing definitely sucked.") I thought it was well done. Plesac had the huge man-love for the Brewers, though. And totally gushed over Molitor and Yount way too much. But he did make comment about Uecker and Bob Betts, although 97% of viewers didn't understand what the big deal was with "Drive. . . home . . . safely."
  7. was that Derrick Turnbow on the mound in the 9th? Why the heck was JC Romero left in to start the inning in a "pressure" situation that he usually doesn't handle (9th inning save duties)? Sorry to say, but the USA didn't win that game as much as Puerto Rico lost it.
  8. the dork in Miami that is constantly blowing his whistle during the USA-PR game. I keep looking up from my computer to turn and look at the television, thinking a referee is blowing a play dead with a delay of game penalty.
  9. I didn't even have to click the link to know EXACTLY what game you are talking about.
  10. trying to sort out all my bobble heads, nesting dolls, etc. on the little shelf space that I have. With all the Brewer ones and Diamondback ones, some had to go in the place of prominence (living room) while the rest have been relegated to whatever available space I can scrounge up elsewhere (computer room). Guess which ones received the place of prominence?
  11. Bringing friends together that have never met. Tonight . . . . on a very special Brewerfan.net
  12. yep, DHonks, that drives me crazy, too. Yes, officer, my eyesight is exactly the same at age 62 as it was at age 27. Ridiculous. Just the fact that most cities don't have driver's education as a requirement (no classroom, no behind-the-wheel!) says enough about our states problems with drivers. Isn't Arizona something like number one in the country in accidents per capita? BIG shock there.
  13. I'll sign up later this week (Monday or Tuesday). Thanks for setting it up. I knew I could count on somebody here to create a Brewerfan pick 'em pool. I think just about every year I've been here somebody has done it. For pride or make things interesting?
  14. I was able to get Bob and Jim Cory on MLB Audio. It was listed as MLB.com rather than any Wisconsin station. edit: forgot to mention that it was a pretty nice comeback in the later innings. McGahee has probably sealed up a spot on the roster. Counsell is hot, too.
  15. still, the Big Ten, Big East and ACC each got SEVEN teams in. That's amazing! (well, for the Big Ten at least). Nothing like the committee saying, "well, Wisconsin and Florida State played a bowl game against each other; might as well do the same in hoops." I think the Badgers will win. Marquette playing up in Boise could be tough but I think they'll squeak through.
  16. Got our tickets here in AZ today. They're pretty slick--I like 'em. Was kind of nice to get the DVD. Now I have to find a way to get my media guide.
  17. WEBCAST! WEBCAST! WEBCAST! Man, that'd be super for us folks with no shot at attending. I'll be drinking a few beers, though, and making wings to make me feel like I'm there.
  18. Bill Hall with a hit on the first pitch he sees this spring (in a game, that is.) Nice! Oh, and a much better 2nd frame by Parra.
  19. well, not a very good start by Parra today. I suppose he was due. Doesn't help that JJ threw away a double play ball, either. Oh, well. It's only the first inning.
  20. The wife and I went to BW3 for lunch and to watch the Badgers (day off at school today). I ate too many wings and had too many beers. And I have to go play poker tonight. Oh, wait. I thought this was the "What's NOT Bugging You" thread.
  21. I found out today that the game has three stadiums that are domed all the time: Tropicana Field, HHH Metrodome, and Miller Park. There is no option to open the roof at Miller Park, but all other convertible/retractable dome stadiums have the roof open or have it closed on cloudy days. That just bites.
  22. I thought the Yankee Stadium one was cruel and lame. Completely unfunny. This one was great. Beyond great. But it's also stupid college humor. Which is great--when you're in college or just out of it.
  23. I'm not nervous yet. It's not even March 10th yet. Give it another week. I figure I'll get mine down here in AZ sometime next week. Give it two more weeks and then get nervous!
  24. merging with the pre-existing topic
  25. WOW! Just WOW! Great episode tonight! Lots of thrills, excitement, and a few surprises. As well as a few more, "hmmmm..." moments, too. And another silent clock. (I won't spoil it for those that didn't see it yet.)
